If you are looking for a nice training session in a very clean and professional gym, AKA Thailand is the place to go.
I am a beginner in Muay Thai, I started my training at Tiger Muay Thai for two weeks before the lock down came. As the customer service was not the best there my boyfriend and I decided to change gym after the lock down to see if there is something better. We were so happy to have found AKA, they are so much better in everything! We were impressed that all the equipment was totally new and it looked just amazing. It wasn’t only that the equipment was new it was also very very clean, we felt a big difference between the cleaning in Tiger and in AKA. We saw the staff how they cleaned after every training and in the morning when we came in the place still had a nice smell of cleaning product. Good job guys, specially now with COVID-19 people are worried and you guys do everything you can to keep us safe.
I can only say thank you to the coaches (Kru Bird, Kru Pet, Kru Wut and Kru Bank) they were so willing to teach and always in a good mood. They made me feel very comfortable although I was a beginner and had no clue how to work by myself on the punching bags and how to do sparring. There was always a trainer available to come and help me and do corrections and even doing “sparring” with me as I was scared to go into the ring with the rest of the group. It shows that they care about everyone no matter your level of experience. I just booked one week training as I thought I would have enough of Muay Thai after one week to then realize that it was a mistake and I was sad to end my training so soon! I learned so much in just one week that I wished I had booked more time. It’s maybe more expensive than other places but the quality of the training and the professionalism of the coaches is absolutely worth it.

I also liked the gym which had everything I needed and the Airdyne class was killer but good, must try! Also the Beach run on Saturday was a lot of fun.

I hope we will come back one day, I loved training at AKA Thailand. Khop Khun ka 🙏🏻

Great location, helpful staff, awesome food (every meal is like a little celebration, especially after a good workout) and, most importantly, the right training culture (safe and friendly).

Morning amateur training with coach Dillon is spot on, getting a lot of work on technique and conditioning done in just an hour.

Evening BJJ with coach Marcio is great as well, with many people to practice with from all over the world.

I have been training at the place for two months and I highly recommend coming, even if you are a beginner or professional coaches will train you in a way that suits you. The coaches are very professional and nice.
At the reception there is a guy named Jay who is very nice and helps with any question or problem. The place is always clean and there is an ice bath that helps you recover after hard train.

This is an outstanding facility, very clean and has a great cafe selling healthy fresh affordable food.
The Muay Thai classes are great, very informative and lots of coaches to students, lots of feedback and all coaches are focused highly on you using the correct technique. You can tell the coaches love Muay Thai and really enjoy teaching. Great atmosphere at the Muay Thai classes. The location of AKA is perfect too 👌🏻
I picked AKA in particular as I was looking for a smaller class of students with the opportunity for a bit more coaching, in comparison to Tiger Muay Thai, AKA seemed a bit quieter and possibly more focused coaching, from what I could tell AKA had a lot more coaches to student ratio per class. That’s why I choose AKA.
My main focus was for the MMA training, the fundamentals class was good, good coaching and techniques. Coach Dillon is great, breaks things down and ensures your getting the techniques right when drilling.
BJJ class was ok, I found that the stable of local students stick together and the new students were kind of pushed aside, possibly slightly ignored. There would be one technique taught at the start of class and the remainder of the class was rolling, I felt that from then onward I was left to my own devices, no guidance or technical advice.
Same with the pro class, this was very hard work and I loved the competition side of training, but again I felt that there was absolutely no coaching, guidance or advice in this class. I was again left to my own devices.
I really wished that the coach would pay a bit of attention and coach in the pro class, things that they may see I’m not doing correctly or possibly a suggestion for the forthcoming round. Not once was I coached at all in the pro class. I honestly thought that was what I was going to be getting.
I paid for 1 month membership, as you know, it’s not cheap to train at AKA and I expected to gain so much more out of it. Unfortunately I have only used two weeks worth of my membership, I’ve come away so disappointed with the MMA and BJJ.
I don’t want to put AKA down, but this is how I personally felt when training there for the two weeks.
I really wished my experience was how I imagined it would be when booking my trip, I really went over there with an open mind and positive attitude thinking that AKA would give me the edge for my Pro debut next month.
Lots of positive reviews of AKA, I’m so disappointed that mine was not the same.

My first time ever at AKA was on December 2019, originally I came just for a 2 week training period. but on my first day I knew that I’d differ my plane ticket.

I had to stay as long as could and ended up staying 1 month and a half. This is how much I loved my experience at AKA Thailand. The training there is second to none, wether you’re into Muay Thai/Kickboxing/MMA.

The coaches here Will push you to become the best version of yourself, and the work is very honest. Sometimes we think that we can only do so much, and with the right kind of help and motivation, we realize that we’re much stronger than we thought.

By the time I arrived at AKA Thailand, I already had 1 year of experience in Kickboxing, but I only came to train and never thought I could fight in Thailand «yet». And then I saw friends of mine that did their first fight here in Phuket, training out of AKA Thailand. That just gave an extra boost of motivation and since then I put myself as a goal to have a fight in Thailand, and it became a dream of mine.
The second time I came at AKA Thailand, was in March 2020, but then we all know what happened to the world... So I decided to go back home and be family during these though times. I then promised myself I’d come back here, no matter it took, to achieve what I set out to do.

So after weeks of back and fourth with the Thai embassy, and a 2 week quarantine in an ASQ, I finally got back to AKA Thailand here in Phuket, on January 28, 2020. And won’t leave until I tick that box off of my bucket list.

This is my experience at AKA Thailand.

You do not have to love martial arts to come here, the hard work, disciple, and respect that we are taught through this, WILL translate to your everyday life and job.

On this last note, do not hesitate to come here at AKA Thailand in Phuket, and not only enjoy the hard work, but the beautiful scenery around it. It will ultimately make a difference in your life. As it did to mine.

Embrace the grind.

Aka Thailand is such a welcoming place. Professionals, amateurs and newbies (aka me) are all able to commingle. There is no air of arrogance, everyone is here to learn and get better. I think it’s because there is a common goal, which is to be a better version of yourself, whether you’re an athlete, fighter, or just someone trying something new. AKA Thailand treats you like family.

The facility isn’t overwhelming and it’s super clean! There’s an awesome indoor bbj/mma room, outdoor Muay Thai facility, a basketball court, change rooms and the restaurant. The contender café has got you covered; it’s got a menu that will satisfy any palette. It’s also an awesome place to chill pre or post practice. Play a bit of pool, watch a fight with friends, or just sit and enjoy a cup of coffee.

Nonetheless, if you’re looking for something active to do in Phuket, I encourage you to come to AKA Thailand. Try it out for yourself, trust me you won’t be disappointed.

from the first step off my motorbike I felt the positive vibes in this environment. In AKA you feel like having a professional experience at all levels and you meet interesting people. They even offered a good package price for one week. The Muay Thai Training was something unique, every coach has his personal style, so everyone can teach something different. They really focus on details of every individual, and also what tells you nobody in the most gyms.
So if you truly want to improve in Muay Thai from first moment I recommend you to go there and experience it.
The facilities itself just make you feel comfortable. its everywhere very wide, big, and very clean.
summary of my impression: its just amazing just to feel the vibes of this place, mike swick knows how you provide a perfect training environment =)

i even changed my flight to stay one more week, after I trained "the last time" :-D #nomorewordsneeded

I trained at AKA Thailand for a month and it was absolutley amazing. It's a really clean place with a lot to offer... Food is delicious, there is so much in their menù that everybody can find something for themselves. All of the personnel is very friendly. They are a really good team, if you are looking for a professional preparation or just recreation. I enjoyed every training I had, from muay thai to BJJ, MMA... Everything. People who come there are also very friendly, easy to talk to and if you come alone or in group you will always find a new friend with who you can hang out and train with. For me, it was life changing... I left with a lot of knowledge and a lot of new freinds. Can't wait to go back!

I’ve been training in AKA for the last week and a half and I can tell you it’s the best Muay Thai gym I trained in... by far. The facilities are beautiful and super clean, the equipment is brand new and the teachers are amazing. They are being very careful since reopening taking everyone’s temperature when they come in and keeping a registration of attendees as well as cleaning and disinfecting the equipment after each class. I feel super safe training here in the middle of a global pandemic. I spent a couple of weeks in Tiger Muay Thai and Phuket Top Team so I can tell you from first hand experience that the best training you’ll get will be in AKA. The instructors are always interacting with everyone, giving pointers and corrections and helping you improve everyday. They’re always in a good mood and really enjoy teaching, I’m constantly laughing while working with them because they make it so enjoyable and this is one of the biggest assets of AKA. The indoor gym is well equipped and clean and the BJJ classroom is beautiful as well. I’m a gym manager myself so I know the difference between a well managed gym and one that doesn’t care and AKA DO CARE, Marc and Mike do a great job running the place and they’ve assembled a great team that have everything up and running. Thanks AKA for the best 2 weeks of my training trip and I will certainly miss this place!

If your looking for a place to train while in Phuket look no further, AKA Thailand has it all. This is my second time coming here and couldn't praise it highly enough, from the welcoming staff to the spotlessly clean equipment which is cleaned multiple times a day by the amazing cleaning staff. I came here with a knee and ankle injury but this was not a problem as Jay was experienced and knowledgeable enough to work around this during my week of airdyne sessions. Weather you want to come to AKA for general fitness or to hone you skills it has something for everyone no matter what level you are.
