About
Soi Dog Foundation is S.E. Asia’s largest rescue organisation for vulnerable street dogs and stray cats. For 18 years, supported by generous donations and global volunteers, SDF has worked tirelessly to reduce animal suffering through CNVR (Catch; Neuter; Vaccinate; Return) programmes. For animals unable to be returned safely to the streets, SDF provides sanctuary, as well as local and international adoption services. SDF is a haven where sick and vulnerable dogs and cats receive world-class medical care, and love. SDF is working in several countries to help end the inhumane and barbaric dog meat trade. Guided tours available Monday-Friday at 10:00am and 1:30pm. Following the 40-minute tour, visitors are encouraged to socialise with our lovely cats and dogs. Impromtu tours are not available between 11:30am and 1:00pm, although between these times, visitors are invited to socialise in the cattery or spend time in the visitor centre.

Uplifting!

Sand box folks with extra time in Phuket, here is a "feel good" thing to do : pay a visit to Soi Dog. Their dedication to mistreated cats and dogs is a true inspiration. It's just 15 minutes away from the airport, so it's a also a brillant way to kill time between hotel check out and a late flight. Your kids will love it. Kuddos to the 270 thai folks taking care of a 1000 or so patients (all fully paid, what a great way to contribute to the local economy) + 20 western volunteers like the friendly Owen who welcomed me, and the charismatic endearing Silvia who gave me a tour : the stories you will hear will restore your faith in humanity :-))) Oh, did I mention the wonderfull country side drive there, and the puppy pen? I think I found the puppy that I will adopt!

What.a.Place.
Sep 2021 • Friends
We had a wonderful tour guide whose name I didn’t quite catch (Italian lady with fab piercings and tattoos!). Hearing her speak about the work of Soi Dog and her passion for the animals made it clear this is a very very special place. This was my favourite part of my trip to Phuket and highly recommend everyone stops by to see the work this impressive organisation is doing. The staff know each animal by name and their personalities, you clearly have to love animals and have an amazing memory to work here! Although there is obviously upsetting information about the mistreatment of animals the whole day felt very uplifting and inspiring. There was no pressure to donate but you are going to want to.

Your tour guide was named Silvia and she, along with everyone else at Soi Dog, shares the passion necessary to give these animal what they need and to do this every day is an honour. We can't thank you enough for your fabulous review and hope to see you here again one day. Best wishes.

Extraordinary heaven for animals
Sep 2021 • Couples
What an amazing heaven on earth for these cats and dogs. I am a current donor to Soi Dog. And since I am on vacation in Phuket, I decided to visit them.

They have such clean animals. You can tell that the facility is first class. The staff really make sure each animal gets its special food and special medicine. I don't know how they manage to take care of so many animals.

I am just so honored to make my little contribution. But seriously, if we each make a small donation, then there will be more resources for all of these animals with no eyes, no legs, and often a broken heart.

I deeply appreciate the work that they do here because it is really not easy work. I encourage you to visit this place if you are a cat or dog lover.

Dear Solera, Thank you so much for the awesome review! Hygiene, environment, quality care and a loving passion are key ingredients to the successful managing of a shelter of this size. But it is all only possible because of the continued support from people just like you! Thank you so much for your support. Very happy to welcome you and hope to see you here again soon. Best wishes.

Absolute gem of a place.
The tour was very informative and really enjoyable, well worth it to understand exactly what the centre does and how big an operation it is.
Meeting the puppies and cats was WONDERFUL, we didn't want to leave.
Please don't visit Phuket without visiting here, the staff are incredible and do a wonderful job.
And please, donate alittle to this wonderful cause.
Thank you for all you and your staff do, every day, for these animals in need.
You all have hearts of gold.

Great charity
Sep 2020 • Solo
When living in Thailand this charity helped so much with the poor stray animals living near my home. Always ready to help when I called them.

Not great

We had high hopes. Long drive. They were weird and rude with lots of forms snd odd bureaucratic requirements. We came at 12 and they said they would be on lunch break until 1:30 but we could see some cats. We bought merchandise. They seemed completely disconnected. Seems poorly managed

Dear janefJ7732EB, We're sorry you didn't enjoy your experience with us. As you can see from the overwhelming majority of previous reviews, this is very unusual. Unfortunately, tours are not available at lunch time. The animal carers take a lunch break at 12pm and access around the shelter is not permitted at this time. It is for the benefit of the dogs. The enclosures at Soi Dog each house upwards of 25 dogs, who can become excitable when they see people. With no carer inside the enclosure, this excitement can lead to conflict between the dogs, which we try hard to avoid. Visitors are given access to our cattery during the lunch hour, as you were. The cattery houses over 140 cats and offers something else during a visit to Soi Dog. With regards to the 'odd bureaucratic requirements', we assume you are referring to the fact that you were asked to wear face coverings (quite normal when in enclosed spaces) and to sign in to our visitor system. Irrespective of covid-19, we require everyone who visits our facility to sign in. The Soi Dog sanctuary is set out across 8 acres and in the event of an emergency such as a fire or other situation that requires a head count, we must know who is on the property. The best way to keep track of who is here is to operate a visitor signing in system. But in the light of covid-19 cases on the rise in Thailand, the registering of individuals has taken on increased importance and is also required by the Phuket Sandbox scheme, either by Mor Chana app (track and trace) or by a sign in process. You will be lucky to find anywhere that does not require these simple measures to be taken. Once again, we're sorry that you didn't enjoy your experience. Best regards

An absolute MUST DO for all animal lovers
Aug 2021 • Family
Absolute must visit for any animal lover! The Soi Dog Foundation offers free guided tours with no mention of donations or buying merchandise- although you will!

A beautiful place dedicated to the health and happiness of abandoned dogs and cats in Phuket, and you get to learn how they work with the local communities and government to achieve this.

The end of the tour is the best as you can play with the puppies and then sit for as long as you like in the cat houses 😻

Dear selwoodfamily, Thank you so much for the great review. We're so happy you had a good time. Everybody enjoys the puppy and cat time at the end and we're glad you did too! And thank you for supporting with a direct donation or a donation towards some merchandise. Every single baht helps and we cannot do it without that support. Best wishes

A well-spent morning for an important cause
Jun 2021 • Couples
We have followed Soi Dog’s work for a number of years, and wanted to come out and support the amazing things they are doing for animals all over Thailand.
Silvia took us on a private morning tour, and it was incredible to see the passion and dedication she - and all the staff and volunteers - show to the dogs. They are obviously well-loved, and it shows!
We finished off the tour with some much-needed puppy cuddles - unfortunately our hands were too full with happy paws to take pictures.
Thank you so much to Silvia and everyone at Soi Dog - with all of the impacts of the current pandemic, it’s more important than ever to support this worthy cause, and important work!

Wonderful Organization, Powerful Message
Mar 2021 • Couples
We spent an afternoon of our vacation at SoiDog.org in Phuket visiting, learning and donating. Wonderful Organization, Powerful Message, please keep growing. Thank you Silvia for the personal tour and our thanks for what the organization is doing.
If you’re in Phuket take time to volunteer some afternoons and walk a dog or two. For all animal lovers this is a must see when in Phuket. If you cannot get there in person go on the website and donate to help them continue serving our four-legged friends.

We had a very good tour at the soidog foundation.
Good to see and hear the things this organisation achieved!
Helping a lot the street dogs, and cats in Thailand!

I saw them working 'in real live' overhere, how they catch the dogs, sterilize and bring them back. Respect!
