The Canyon course has been renovated and it is in terrific condition. I played twice last week and in my opinion the new management is steadily returning the Club to its position as one of Asia's best.

New owner, new management, still should be avoided
Mar 2021
Golf courses are really nice, everything nearly perfect. Tee boxes, fairways, greens, caddies, all good. But then, management and marshals.

There is no golf etiquette in Blue Canyon. 5 balls can spend more than 25 minutes per hole blocking whole course. Marshals do nothing to make game flow. Golf carts have stickers "16 minutes max". Yes, just stickers. Nobody cares.

If you don't accept their offer to play another day, only option to get your money back is from credit card company. That will result you to be blacklisted in golf course, but who cares. Who wants to sit and wait 6 hours while "playing" golf?

Really the worst golf experience in Thailand in 21 years.

Avoid at all costs

Once rated amongst the best golf courses in SE Asia, Blue Canyon seems to be totally neglected and badly maintained.
The fairways are overgrown with weed and the greens are infested with crab grass making them completely unpredictable.
The views from the club house are magnificent though the club house itself seems a bit tired and "has been".
Overall a poor golf experience.

Thank you for your review. With new management and new owner, we have invested heavily and have restored Canyon Course and reopened it on 12 Mar 2021. Some of the things we have done: Restoration of Canyon -Overhaul fair way grass to Zoysia Matrella -Overhaul Grass on Green to be TifEagle for a true line putting experience (Green Speed 9.5 to 10) -Overhaul Bunkers and drainage in bunkers I send you a pic and vid -Re-introduce new soft sands from central of Thailand. -Enlargement of Greens to make it as intended by designer Yoshikazu Kato in 1991. It is in perfect conditions now. We hope to welcome your return soon!

Sad - so so sad !!

I walked this course in 1998 a few yards behind Tiger Woods on his way to the JWC crown - and always dreamed of playing it. Sadly, it was in terrible shape - monsoon notwithstanding - from the greens, t-boxes or fairways. For the price - the only thing I can say what was good were the caddies. I will not be back and don't really recommend it to anyone unless they want to check the box.

Needs investment
Aug 2019 • Friends
Blue Canyon is one of the most beautiful golf courses I’ve ever played and my son said it was fantastic for scenery and setting.

The caddies were also good as were the rental clubs and lunch.

However, for the price you pay this course is in serious need of investment, the greens in particular are very patchy with lots of bare patches and the overall course looks like it needs some TLC.

The prices were Dubai golf level but not up to Dubai quality apart from the setting.

We did have a lovely round and lots of fun.

Sad, old and badly managed
Feb 2019 • Couples
Despite having played here every year for about 10 years we were told that now only members are allowed to ‘walk’ the course when they play and and if you do walk as a non member they still charge you for the buggy !! We played a second time and my husband was allowed to walk but despite booking tee Times he didn’t get a caddie until the 3rd home as they were having lunch....
the first time we played Our first 9 holes took just over 90 minutes / despite my husband walking but the back 9 took over 2 hours 20 mins because the groups we caught up to were all very slow. The marshals had no ability/authority/desire to speed anyone up and just kept meeting us at each tee to say sorry that it’s so slow.
The second time we played it was much quieter but it still took over 4 hours to get around...
We are in Phuket for a 6 week golf holiday and played twice but won’t be coming back. Laguna and mission hills are much nicer...
The changing rooms are dark and a bit smelly, like mold. In need of a renovation.
There are lots of mosquitoes in the showers and restaurant.

Good experience 😎

Blue Canyon has an amazing history. Two courses, Canyon n Lakes.

Canyon course-Oldest golf course in phuket. Host to Johnny Walker Classic. Home to Tiger Wood’s first Asian PGA victory.

First, the negatives. Fairways were burnt n brown. Many Tee boxes had large areas of sand.

Positives? Very hot season n issues with irrigation, so the course should be much healthier in the future. Layout is beautiful. Deep canyons with steep dropoffs make for scintillating n exciting golf. Tight greens make fir a real challenge.

Signature 14th is a beautiful par 3 onto a small green.

Overall, a wonderful experience.

Bygone Glory

Having had the opportunity of playing both courses at Blue Canyon Country Club just recently, I must admit that I left feeling rather deflated, as both courses were in a rather poor shape, to say the least. Keeping in mind that one pays top $ for this experience, one could surely not speak of a good price/value relationship here. The Club house is old and surely not loved, as are most facilities within the complex. The greens suffered from various disease, and due to the lack of rain around the time of my visit, the whole golfing experience was rather muted. Surely, the owners of this course must recognize, that when you charge such rates, a golfer expects only the best and highest level of a golf course maintenance and its facilities, otherwise one is just taken for a ride, keeping in mind the low labour costs of this country. With keeping this in mind, perhaps the Caddies, which I understand are mostly self employed, could get a higher share of the green fees, and perhaps more training should also be available for them. But in general they are trying to be helpful, and I couldn't fault the ones I experienced during my 2 games there . Finally, when the question arises, could I recommend this course to any fellow golfer, I would have to say , not really', even though the layout might be quite good, the delivery of it all, lacks a lot value.

Poor conditions, very poor rental club, unexperimented caddie with distance
Apr 2019
I played the course on the 4th of April 2019 and I was shocked by the poor maintenance.
The driving range is in poor condition (ball to paid extra 50 B).
The course is even worst with burnt fairways, hard sand bunker.
It is very hard to judge distance and I encourage the club to invest in laser to provide to their caddie and have correct yardage to hole.
The club rented (1,800B) were very old titleist club in poor condition. On one par 3, the head of my iron left with the ball...
I played the red mountain a few days ago and my experience was really different in a bad way.
I do not recommend.

Sad state of a great golf course
Apr 2019 • Friends
I played a round of golf in April 2019 and found it in very poor conditions. The fairways were dry, the bunkers were hard and the greens were patchy and slow.

My caddy was experienced and very helpful but some of my fiends got new caddies who were not even familiar with golf clubs and the course layout.

When I first played there in 1993, I remembered it was well maintained and very beautiful with high quality caddies

Hope it could return to its past glory
