At the advise of our accommodation host, we spent a few hours at Layan Beach.

The beach was clean with soft sand and we enjoyed the swim. Not too crowded. At around 11:00 am, still plenty of lounge chairs with shade available for rent for 150 baht. There is at least one restaurant and a beach club.
Many signs saying you can't swim. Rubbish everywhere. Looks pretty abandoned. The water is very dirty and there is absolutely nothing to do. If you are after a nice beach to swim and chill at I personally do NOT recommend this beach.
Layan beach is situated in a Lagona style beach setting. The beach is beautiful and the color of the water is amazing when you have clear blue skies. You need to remember the tide as the water is pretty shallow at certain points.
Such beautiful beach but infested with flies that gave painful bites all over my body. It is worst under the shade or in restaurants. The stench of clogged up drain is pretty bad too. This place needs a good clean up!
I travelled to Layan Beach from Bang Tao beach about 20-25 minutes by moped.
A beautiful stretch of beach that is quieter than Bang Tao and no less impressive.
