After an enforced absence of nearly 2 years my wife and myself are holidaying in Phuket (this time staying at the Angsana Laguna Phuket - Review to follow) and been able to again enjoy our daily walks on Bang Tao beach.

Although the sea is still rougher than usual (calmer conditions should return over the next couple of weeks) - which impacts some of the slopes - there are few better walking beaches (certainly not as long - Bang Tao Bay stretches for a good 4-5 miles) on the Island.

At present - and, hopefully, not for too much longer - there are relatively few tourists so many of the Restaurants/Resorts remain closed. This is great for the likes of us but not for the many locals whose livelihoods are heavy dependent on tourism.

Very much hope, therefore, that 2022 will bring with it a return to normality so that we all can get on with our lives again!

Very nice and quiet beach. When we were there it was not very busy and the beach was very clean...very relaxing. We were at the northern part with a few beach side restaurants with very good, tasteful food. Highly recommendable. Food prices from below 100 Baht and the majority 120 - 150/180 Baht.

This is a great beach if you like a nice walk on clean sand with the option of dipping in and out of the beautiful clear sea every so often. There are plenty of restaurants dotted about for refreshments if needed.

My wife and myself are back on our annual visit to Phuket and I have already had 2 lovely (100 minute) walks on my all time favourite Bang Tao Beach - within walking distance from where we stay at the Laguna Holiday Club (separate Review to follow).

The walk itself was a good as ever - nice hard, golden sand and, as I tend to walk early mornings, a nice mix of shadow and sand. I was, however, surprised to see so much Jellyfish activity and the continued presence of the Jet Ski operators - most of which lack insurance and anyone hiring one of these is literally (particularly, following the recent tragic accident in which several Russian teenagers died) taking a huge risk!

Of most concern, however, was the construction of several new apartment blocks (no doubt, primarily targeted at the growing number of Chinese & Russian visitors) at the Angsana Hotel! This does nothing to enhance Bang Tao Beach nor bodes well for the future - thus my lower overall rating!

A great tree lined beach with some resorts in between.
More quiet than Patong, Karon and Kata beaches, but it is lovely, clean and good for a long walk.
Still has plenty of places for beach lounges and eateries.

Bang Tao beach is quieter to compare with other beaches in Phuket. Rather clean and a wonderful place for sunset. Many restaurants along the beach. We stayed at the Banyan Tree last time and they warned us not to swim (because of Jelly Fish?). We believe it’s because the waves can be is strong.
