For me it was too crowded and really quite dirty with lots of rubbish not being collected or taken away by businesses after people had long left the sunbeds. The sea as nice as it looked was also much more choppy than the previous island so harder to relax in.Visited February 2024Traveled with familyWritten February 14, 2024

This is a beautiful island. I visited here about a week ago with my wife and my two sons who are 13 and 9. I would really recommend it.
Snorkelling around the island was fantastic and we saw a range of beautiful coloured fish. The waters are so clear and have a beautiful blue, and the sand is perfect. We also ate at the only restaurant on the beach which was okay but not great, but didn’t spoil the experience.
I thought I would write this review to help fellow travellers. The main thing I would say is to try and avoid getting scammed or taken advantage of by travel companies and the locals/drivers.
Firstly, I would advise you to do this yourself but even savvy travellers would need to ensure they do it properly. Rather than booking with a tour operator and paying through the nose, we did it ourselves, but even so had to be quite clever in how we did it.
Firstly, taxi drivers will probably want to stay with you all day so they can charge you a day rate. We downloaded an app called Bolt which is just like Uber. From Patong, it was therefore a cheap journey. Next, the long tail boat itself. The day previous, one of the captains had tried to charge us 2500 Baht to do the same trip (from Rawai) and on our return the day after we paid just 1500. This was for a few hours.
A couple of other captains we asked had said that we would have to pay extra for rental of snorkelling equipment, but the shops in Rawai charge extortionate prices (like £10 GBP for one snorkel set) because they take advantage and see you coming. We managed to negotiate with a captain who though he didn’t have snorkels at first, managed to run off for a couple of minutes and came back with four sets. This was therefore included in the price because he wanted our business and we played hard ball. Naturally, we gave him a good tip afterwards, but this was our choice because we knew we had paid a fair price to start with.
If you get to the drop-off point for taxis and then walk to the very end past all the shops and restaurants, go as far as you can and then it’s on the right. This is where we got our boat.
Hope this helps.

I would suggest to skip this island as it's Average beach with lots of stone and rock, thus be careful and better to put on those snorkeling shoes to prevent injury unless the trip includes snorkeling. We booked the trip from Klook and the local guide is Sea of Dreams which there is no snorkeling as the guide said the coral was destroyed by Tsunami. The water at the beach is not too clear and nothing great. There are many people at the beach. Sea sports are expensive as mentioned by others like 800 baht for just a very very short para sailing ride, 1 minute. The same ride at Patong beach is much longer. The fruit smoothie costs 150 baht.

Hello
I booked a Phuket coral island day trip from MakeMyTrip. What I didn’t know was MakeMyTrip trip outsourced this to a vendor called TRAVSTORE. They again outsourced to a vendor called Nikorr marine at Pattaya.
They took us on a boat ride to a island . Island looked pretty. The horrible experience started there . These guys don’t provide kids life jacket. My 5 year old boy had to wear a life jacket which is of his size!
When we reached the island before getting Into water they cautioned us that there could be some poisonous creatures such as sea urchins in the sea. Ok. Advice taken .. and then when you get into the water a big disappointment! There are no corals at all here. All the corals are dead here. And then as they cautioned earlier sea is full of sea urchins. 😂 Name of the day trip should have been “Day trip to sea urchin island” ... We were forced to spend rest of the day in the island and in the evening we were brought back.
I called MakeMyTrip customer care. They couldn’t understand issue at all. After a Month they called me and said , “corals are natural thing. We can’t help if it was not found !!” 😂
I Suggested them to start a coral island trip at Yamuna river Delhi . If corals are not found they can can give same gyan. They were very happy with my suggestion. 😀

We went to Coral island ,Thailand last week and as everyone says it’s very busy.So when a buggy man came and offered to take us to a quieter beach we went. However,we weren’t in the water for more than a couple of minutes when my husband screamed and had two long spikes in the bottom of his foot. Those i pulled out,but also he had about 20-30 bites,i only got one, which was really painful. I didn’t pay attention (we were in so much pain) to what it was. The waitress got it up straight away on her phone and gave us an empty beer bottle???? we weren’t sure what to do.The buggy man came and said you have to hit them.when they bleed its ok.You seriously bruise your foot doing this.He said apparently that beach had these things, but they weren’t on the other beach.i have yet to find out their name but if you are going here ,be careful

So absolutely blessed to be able to take a private catamaran out today and see the islands. Snorkeled and jumped into the Andaman sea and fished on the way back.
Double bonus as Phuket have our tourism and money and we get to have the best of holidays . It’s been a fabulous time and it’s so lovely to see the Thai people so pleased to see tourists after so long. The one thing they can thank Covid for is they have their clean, beautiful beaches back and we got to see Phuket without the crowds 🙏

I took the Racha Island / Coral day tour via speedboat. After snorkeling at Racha we came to Coral for buffet lunch.
The beach is not very busy…one can easily get a beach deck chair and relax whilst having a cocktail (Long Island is my choice).
I also did parasailing here for 800 baath. Was a lot of fun. Just be warned ….they strap the harness pretty tight ( one could say if they quit this job …they could easily get another job at Olga’s House of pain).
One can also rent glass boats to paddle in the specified areas, as well as take a ride on the banana boat. Can also do sea walk and a few other things.

Great way to escape Patong’s hustle and bustle and just enjoy the island life. Clean waters, cool breeze, sun shining. Sand is soft.
Tour guide from Nikorn Marine provides excellent service!
Tip: buy beach shoes to wear into the water as there are a lot of coral that you do not want to step on. Buy the shoes at the pier for only 100 baht. On the island it’s 350 baht for the same thing.

Don’t believe the photo I put up or the others.
Even though when you look out into the sea in front of you, you see beauty. It’s what’s in the water that disappoints.
We were having a beautiful time snorkeling and for some reason the crew we went with were in a rush to get us here. We got here and it was anything but the write up.
The water was full of rubbish (disgusting), the beach had rubbish on it, there were cigarette buts around the chairs.
Unless they clean up the beach and the water I would never recommend coming here

Dear all,
I am planning to go to Pattaya , so can you please suggest if I can visit Coral island on my own...
I got some quotes from websites but apart from taking us there and activities (on payment basis) nothing else is provided..
Also as I'm vegetarian.. the food review is also bad..
Pls suggest
P.S. same question for James bond, Phi Phi island from Phuket...
Thanks a lot.

You may book the coral Island trip through a travel agent, including transfers, activities and lunch.
If you're vegetarian, you may get some of your eatables to get through the day and of course, lots of fresh fruits are available there. Take a pair of change of clothes as the sand is very smooth and you'll enjoy it a lot.

how to get to the coral island from the phuket by the logtail and how many baths
Written February 1, 2018
You can find longtails just to the right side of Chalong Pier. They cost around 2,000 baht for the return trip for up to 6 passangers.. Be sure they go to Banana Beach.
Alternatively, you can go to Rawai Beach where there are many choices of longtails waiting, similar price. The possible problem with Rawai is the low tides can be a problem on your return which is why I prefer Chalong Pier.
Prices are a guide only.

I want to take my 8 month old to coral island but many of the tour operators state that it's not recommended for babies under 1. How would I go then? Would longtail boats allow it? Or if I just tell the tour operators she's 1?
Written November 17, 2017
We went out on a longtail boat and personally I don't although as 6 adults and a 12 & 13 year old, I don't think I would have felt happy with a 1 year old. We were really drenched, although there may be options to go on a larger boat? When I went years ago I really enjoyed but felt it was crowded and too commercialised this time

Is it safe for 8 month old baby to take coral island..?
Written September 20, 2017
Hi Vishal, Our speedboats are in very good condition and Banana Beach has plenty of shade for young children. Be sure to choose Banana Beach which is cleaner and has fresh water showers for you and the little one. They get quite sandy playing on the beach!

What should be the attire which I should wear while going to coral island. Is it necessary to take footwear suitable for water like slippers etc. Can I get on rent as o have not brought it with me
Written May 21, 2017
Hi, You do not need water foot ware as the sand close to the beach is fine and for further out on our beautiful reef, we do not want any feet on the coral.
Be sure to wear your life jacket (provided) and keep your feet up.
If you have booked the cheap trip to Long Beach, there is no coral to worry about.
If you have chosen the better option to Banana beach, you can stand on the sand in the shallow water before the reef.
Fins are for rent however please make sure you have your tour guide watch you if you go to the deeper water.
