In this age of concern for animal welfare, especially when those animals are in confinement, this place falls well short of the mark. It is cheap to enter (THB180 for foreigners, THB50 for citizens), but even then it is not worth the money. Most of the exhibits were small tanks with a few fake rocks and almost no vegetation. One tank (about 1m3) contained some sort of ray with no vegetation, no fake rocks, nothing. Just water. If you are concerned about animal welfare, show your support for the animals by stirring clear of this place. The Shedd Aquarium it is not!

This is a great little aquarium with interesting exhibits big and small, really informative boards by the tanks explaining all about them, the highlight was the feeding time when a diver with a bucket of fish appeared and fed the sting ray, shark and assorted relations to each other. The groupers were enormous too! I wouldn't necessarily recommend driving across the island to visit here, but if you are local and it's a bit overcast then well worth a visit. You can also walk outside to see the turtle tanks.
They highlighted the environmental concerns of plastics but then had plastic stirrers and plastic water bottles in the shop!

This aquarium has quite a lot of construction and will be pretty great in a few years. We saw lots of things we don’t see at home( which was neat) but some tanks were kind of pathetic. Too big fish in too small tanks. I’m happy they have the turtle and soon Dugong rescue program, but they need to upgrade some of those small tanks for the big fish. Nice area to sit out back on the patio, nice ocean walk around Panwa lookout, not much to eat nearby, take water it’s hot and humid.

I went there last week and didn't venture past the ticket booth.
Why?
Because, as a 'Farang' (foreigner) I was required to pay 100% more for my ticket than a Thai visitor. The Thai fees were written in Thai so foreigners do not realise they are being discriminated against.
Even foreigner children have to pay more than Thai children.

So I had a polite discussion with the lady manager.
She stated, predictably, there was nothing she could do about the discrimination as it was a decision by The Board.

WELL BOARD; SHAME ON YOU ALL FOR INSULTING YOUR FOREIGN VISITORS WITH YOUR DISGRACEFUL DISCRIMINATION.

This is a widespread practice throughout all of Thailand and it's about time Teddy and Trixy Tourist did something about it. Thais themselves won't change the status quo as they see no moral issues with the discrimination. So just do a U-turn whenever you see such discrimination; money talks here.

Oh, and if The Board is still reading this; put your 'Complaints Form' near the ticket booth rather than hidden away near your lousy souvenirs shop.

We usually visit the Aquarium if the weather is unsettled, it's very interesting and educational .
My one downside to the aquarium is, if you take the Nature Walk around the back of the main building you are confronted with tons of rubbish,I appreciate that the sea brings in a lot of debris ,but when you have signs telling you how long certain items take to degrade and take litter home it seems rather pointless .
If this area was cleaned up and more bins made available then it would be a more pleasant experience .

Small. We went to see 🐢 but that part wasnt open for some reason. Poss seasonal. The aquarium is right on the beach. A school trip came down and cleared the beach or trash. Which made our day. Nick nack shop on site.

This is a small aquarium with a very short tunnel tank (it would take about five paces to walk through it, the photos are deceptive about its length) with some interesting fish. It took me half an hour to see everything inside the building. I didn't understand how some other reviewers had spent 2 hours there until I got home and discovered there is a Nature Trail outside the main building which leads to the Hatchery, the Sea Turtle Pool and a Marine endangered Species Museum among other things. I did not see anything inside the aquarium building itself that indicated the presence of these features and the only sign outside pointed to Nature Trail without any further indication of what that meant. So if you go to the aquarium make sure you see everything there is to see! Apparenty you can watch divers feed the sharks at 11am et the weekends.

Only 100 Baht entrance fee, many colorful fishes, moraines, crabs, small sharks, turtles and a small exhibition about the tsunami. We think it is worth it, especially regarding the low entrance fee. Good choice for a rainy day but not a most have to do.

If you are happy to pay over 100% more because you are a foreigner,Then go and enjoy.
But if you do not agree with the duel pricing in Thailand give it a wide berth and take your atm somewhere else.

It's a nice aquarium in Cape Panwa, Phuket. Not very new and not luxurious. But the admission fee is very reasonable and you can find a lot of pretty and rare fishes there, including sharks. If you have time or if you stay in Cape Panwa area or visit Cape Panwa, I would recommend you to drop by. Spare at least 40 minutes there. But if you have 1 - 2 hours, it would be perfect.
