June Bahtra day cruise was one of the most fun and relaxing experiences I had on my trip to Thailand. The cruise on the sail boat lasted about 2 hours after which we boarded a long boat which took us to Sam Chong Nuea Village. I was afforded the opportunity to learn how to tie die a handkerchief. During our visit we learned about village life from local villagers. We learned how local tea leaves are used and processed to make soap, medicine, etc. Village craftmanship was an awesome sight to see - so creative in how they use natural resources which are at their fingertips. We left the village via the long boat to James Bone Island. The crystal clear water and rock formations created a wonderful backdrop of scenery while we cruised along back to the sail boat. Swimming was an option but the wind blew in making it a little choppy so the staff recommended staying on board. We returned to the sail boat and headed back to the marina. A variety of snacks, Thai desserts, tropical fruit and drinks were available to cruise guests. The total number of guests on the cruise I went on was 10. The sail boat is larger enough to accommodate more than 10 comfortably. The marina and cruise ship staff were very friendly and wanted to ensure that we had an good time - which we all did.

I went for the trip in December end 2014 and it was perfect. You get the transfer from your hotel from most of the places in Phuket. upon reaching he Pier. They will take you through the Cruise or speed boat (your option but cruise was better).

Staff and Cruise:
The ship and the cruise were great. The cruise was very professional, courteous and helpful. They were very polite and mixed easily with the group. The cruise was also in good condition. The cruise takes approx 35 people on board.

The trip:
They take you t the James bond island from the pier which takes almost an hour to reach but you can enjoy the scenic beauty and take many pictures as you pass through the standing rocks in the sea. You can enjoy and buy from the James bond island. Next they take you to Honk island where you can do swimming and canoeing for half an hour. Next they take you to another island for canoeing for half and hour. Last in the Lawa beach where you hae an hour to spend and you can do swimming, self canoeing or relax on beach.

Food:
The buffet lunch provided on the cruise is good and have fruits, biscuits, water and cold drink available all the time till the cruise ends.

All in all a fantastic trip and MUST GO.

All inclusive tour. We were picked up on time at the hotel. We stayed at Karon Beach area so it took us about 1hr30mins to the peer. But it was worth a trip. After we got on a boat, we were well looked after. The guide was very knowledgeable; he answered my small questions professionally. He kept on checking up all passengers if we needed anything. There were small kids on board the guide and other crew members paid attention to them at all time. The scenery from the boat was unforgettable - a crew threw some meat to the sea so we will see sea birds will fly around our boat. James Bond island was the highlight of the tour although it is a bit overcrowded to my liking. There were some shops on the island too. Some souvenirs are only available on the island so I suggest you take cash before you get on the long tail boat. Muslim village was something different. I personally enjoyed the trip thanks to the knowledgable guide, who kept us informed. Then we had fantastic lunch on board which was cooked on the ship! I usually do not eat anything on board or plane but I could not resist the yummy food! In summary, I highly recommend this trip for adults. (it is along journey so kids seemed bored half way)

This is a tacky tourist attraction. The receptionist at the marina is rude and aggressive and very unlike the rest of the people you meet in Thailand. The brochures found everywhere in Phuket advertise 4 free glasses of wine, which they point out was printed in 2009, so no longer eligibleine but still distribute. This is not an inexpensive event so charge a few baht more and seem generous. There is no description of where you are or what you are seeing and the food is frankly shocking and doesn't seem at all fresh. I can't imagine what the daytime event in the heat must be like I am thinking Somalia pirates/hostage situation. The company needs to up the ante and do a bit better for the price!

Dear sir, Thank you for your comment. First of all, we would like to apologize for your unpleasant experience with our service and the dinner cruise. It is never our intention to mislead our customers about what we offer on the cruise. The special offer of free wine expired two years ago but may still be used by some agents. We will make sure to ask our agents to inform their customers about the beverages when the reservation is made. We are sorry that you are disappointed with the food. Indeed, the dishes are cooked on board. However, we will keep working to improve the quality of the food as well as its presentation. To help us improve the quality of service, it would be appreciated if you can give us your name and travel date. Sincerely yours, June Bahtra

We enjoyed our Sunset Cruise but this was only because there were 10 of us and we all loved eachothers company. The scenery was lovely but what spoiled this trip was that the tour organisers - Phuket-Trips.com (Andamanda Travel) and June Bahtra all say that you get drinks provided - included in the price of the tour. So, when we all jumped on board we asked for a beer each and were told that it cost THB70. I pulled out my booking form and the advertisement and showed the captain (who was doubling as our waiter) and he said that we would have to pay and I said, no, it says here that we each get a drink, and after much staring blankely at me he said to contact who we booked through for a refund. So, I did this and all they keep telling me is that I should have read the terms and condiditons as they are allowed to change the tour or what is included in the tour "due to local conditions". I am still waitiing on what local conditions they are talking about because the weather was beautiful!! The tour operator is blaming the booking agent and vice verca. I know I'm not going to get a refund as they are now refusing to reply to my emails but just wanted to warn others as this is not acceptable. Its not a great deal of money at the end of the day it's the principle and the fact that they blame eachother and ignore your requests for further explanations - and get away with it - that bothers me.

Dear dissapointed guest. As I represent the company and DOS I take the liberty to reply your review. Firstly, I'm sorry that the problems regarding the drinks ruined what should have been a nice experience, now to be viewed as a scam. Next I will point out that we at June Bahtra have no responsibility that the agent, with whom you purchased your tour are not updating the informations that we are providing them. Drinks have been included previously but this was change and notice was given to our partners by August 2009 with effect from 1st of November 2009. Truely regretting though that you have not received a satisfying answer. I can be reached at soren@asian-oasis.com.

We went on a Sunset cruise on the June Bahtra. We went a little way out from the dock, stopped and then turned round and went back in again. No sunset, just planes going out from the airport. The food was the worst we have ever had on 7 trips to Phuket. We shouted our parents for their anniversary and were most embarrassed and felt ripped off. It is definitely overpriced.

The June Bathra, as well as her sister boats, are large Chinese Junk boats that go to Phang-Nga bay from Phuket's Yacht Haven Marina, located on the northeastern side of the island. They all belong to Asian Oasis.
We booked a day tour for 3700 baht per adult and 2700 baht per child. Children up to 4 years are free of charge.
The organization of the whole trip was meticulous. We were picked up on time, the boat arrived on time, we were met by a long tail boat to shuttle us around, as soon as we arrived at the meeting point me we returned to the Marina on time as well.
The guide spoke English and German fluently and the whole crew was very friendly and attentive.
Soft drinks and lunch (nothing special) are part of the package. Beer and wine can be bought for a reasonable price.
The scenery is really beautiful and tranquil, while cruising along on this comfortable vessel.
However, the sails on the boat are just for decoration and were just put up for about 5 minutes, so we could take some photos.
The island one can visit (James Bond, Muslim village) are the same every other boat arriving to this National Park visits, so it was immensely crowded. The swim stop was somewhere on the way back to the Marina, and unfortunately not in some kind of romanticized, secluded bay.
During the whole trip we also felt hurried to get from one point to the next and found that the guide did not give us more detailed information, unless we specifically asked him.
All in all, having been to the bay before on a self-organized trip on a long tail boat, costing us 2000 baht in total, seeing and doing exactly the same things, minus lunch and soft drinks, we felt a bit ripped off by the immense price difference.

My wife and I went to Phuket for our honeymoon. We booked a honeymoon package and this was included in it. We were quite excited for ti and even checked in with our hotel and some street vendors for more info on the cruise.

Unfortunately, this was a horrible experience from the get go.

1) The pickup van showed up 20 minutes early and yelled at us when we were not ready
2) The can driver drove recklessly throughout the entire drive. I have traveled all over the world and never seen such reckless driving
3) The boat host was truly rude
4) We were told there was coke light and when we asked if there were, the hostess laughed and walked away (not a big deal but it all adds up)
5) We were told dinner was with wine and their was none on the boat.
6) Food was cold... would be decent if they served it rather than keep it covered and wait for each thing to be ready

This was not a good experience. Is not near anything and not worth a single baht.

Dear sir, Thank you for your comments on the sunset cruise. We were truly sorry about your unimpressive experiences. After an investigation, we found that there was some misunderstanding about a pick-up time and a type of beverages provided during the excursion. The special offer of free wine was included in the tour for a short period of time a few years ago and already expired. We will reach out to our travel agents to ask them to give an updated information about the tour to their customers. Regarding the food, our staff reported that there was a problem with the cooking stove, causing a delay in the cooking process. We are also sorry about the service from our staff and will continue to work on the issues to ensure an enjoyable experience for our clients. Sincerely yours, June Bahtra

Dec 2012 • Friends
Through years I made some fine "two days / one night" cruises (HALONG BAY for example on VALENTINE junk or MEKONG on BASSAC ship). I made, also, very enjoyable day cruises in PHANG NGA bay (lot of times from 1994 to 2011 and, specialy, on former wonderful MARGARET LEE from LE MERIDIEN).

On last December 2012, I was with family and friends in PHUKET and KHAO LAK. I looked after a sunset cruise as we did not want to be a whole day on PHANG NGA bay. I booked (Internet) the sunset cruise of JUNE BAHTRA which I paid 12 500 Bath (some 435 $) for 5 persons. I wished a non shared van (as we were 5 guests) and I asked for it. I paid (for this "private" van) and extra 800 Bath (some 30 $). So, the total cost was of the sunset cruise was about 465 $ (5 passengers).

Official schedule was : pick up at 3:30 pm at hotel. We were in LE MERIDIEN (south west part of PHUKET island) and we had to go to the pier where was anchored the junk. The JUNE BAHTRA pier is in north east part of PHUKET island. It takes (along with traffic jam) some 45 to 60 minutes. Scheduled was to be by 4:30 / 4:45 at pier of the junk. The sunset cruise was supposed to board at 5:00 pm.

The van was fine (the only thing which appears to be fine in fact). It was on time at hotel (3:30 pm) and the driver was very careful. We arrived at office of the JUNE BATHRA on the pier by 4:30 pm. We were told that cruise will be late from 10 to 15 minutes but in fact it was 35 minutes (waiting for other customers !). In office there was not enough seats for 5 persons and the staff did not offer us even a glass of water during the hour we had to wait. At 5:35 pm (35 minutes late) we board the junk. We were 13 people on board. The first thing we were told was that the junk has to be back by 8:30 pm as the staff live on it (we did not understand very well the purpose of this explanation). The lady (one of the JUNE BAHTRA company) who was the "guide" was nice but she spoke (in english) in a high manner (not very easy to understand).

Weather was not fine and thunderstorms were in sight (very close) on north part of PHANG NGA bay. By 6:15 pm night was coming full and thuderstorm too with winds and rain. Staff changed place trying to anchor twice with some difficulties. Rain began to be more heavy with gusty winds. Plastic curtains were deployed from the roof by the crew of the junk but water was pouring on bankets.

By 6:45 pm, some passengers began to say we should have better to head back to the pier. The young lady answered in a not friendly manner and did not want the Junk return to pier. With plastic curtains closing the small space where we were confined, dark night, and rain showers with gusty winds, we were like in a sauna on the junk. The (Thai) buffet was average but it did not worth the price paid. There were on board soft drinks (free of charge) and beer (70 Bath) but no wine.

We (passengers including some not too young people) were not satisfied according to these unconfortable situation (rain, wind, and so on). Some of us asked again to head back to the pier. The young lady (with her mobile phone) called her boss (I think). She told us that the cruise will not head back to pier because of one or two (sic) passengers ask for it. She explained that there will be a poll (may be she thought that some of us may wish to go on this cruise). 100 % of passengers (13 passengers) raised their hand and wanted to return to the pier.

This was a very unpleasant sunset cruise. Of course the JUNE BAHTRA company is not responsible of the (bad) weather. But, as a former pilot, I do think they should have canceled the cruise (or at least head back more quickly to the pier). It would had be less unpleasant to have dinner on board at pier ! According to a complete dark night (because of late departure and thunderstorms with low clouds), heavy rain, gusts, and plastic curtain closing the junk, there was nothing to see anyway ... But (may be) JUNE BAHTRA company did not want to head back sooner to avoid that some passengers may ask for a payback for the cruise ( ? ).

We took a picture (see attachment) of this sunset cruise while crew let the steering wheel blocked with a bar stool and tried to manage some problems while we had to face winds and rain (thunderstorms).

Dear Sir, We appreciate your comments on the sunset cruise, and were truly sorry to learn about the unfortunate sequence of events that spoiled your outing with us. The travelling time between hotels in Phuket and the pier is about 45 minutes, and even up to 60 minutes, depending on the traffic and the number of people to be picked up along the way. It does sometimes happen that we have to wait a few minutes for some passengers. We will, however, try harder to keep to schedule, as regards the departure times of our cruises. Thank you for mentioning the seating at the office, and the lack of service. In fact, we do have a waiting area with seating for more than 15 people. We have instructed our staff to tend properly in future to our guests waiting in the office. It is regrettable, but the unpredictable weather in Thailand does sometimes influence our cruises. Occasionally, when bad weather sets in, we cancel the cruise ahead of time. In these cases we advise our passengers as soon as possible, and also offer a refund. In the event of strong wind and rain coming up after the cruise has started, safety is our main concern. If our captain decides that it is not advisable to proceed, he will find the best way possible to secure the safety and well-being of everyone on board. From your account, the staff on board clearly did not communicate with passengers well. We are taking steps to prevent a recurrence of this in future. Sincerely yours, June Bahtra
