Had the best time here! The staff were welcoming and friendly and the elephants were well looked after.. We did the half day morning experience and it was well worth the money.. You get lots of time with the elephants and tons of information. The pictures they take for you are all free to download off there Facebook page which is great as you can get on with enjoying your time there. The actual place is very basic, but that adds to the charm of it all! We were even taught how to cook pad Thai which we had for lunch 😊…

I loved feeding the elephants and bathing them, they are such friendly and intelligent animals and this centre gives you time to be up close with the elephants in a way that is not as stressful for them as riding them. I was in two minds whether to do this activity as I have heard bad things about animal tourism. However, at the Elephant Retirement Centre the animals seem genuinely happy and well fed, are able to spend time with other elephants and I saw no chains or sticks etc (like you have in some other places). The keepers are great and clearly are looking out for the elephants' interests and making sure that the tourists respect them. Overall, I am so glad I did this!…

We spent an afternoon with the elephants. After a brief talk about what we would be doing and why, and an explanation of the parks aims we were taken to meet these lovely animals. We were shown how to feed small bananas to our new friends. We cooked on an open fire the supplementary food they require. Left it to cool whilst we walked into the jungle to bath the elephants, rinse them off, scrub their leathery skin. Then back to the paddock to feed them once again. All this accompanied by an explanation of what we were doing and why. This is an exceptional afternoon or morning and the cost is well worth it, the money going entirely to the upkeep of the sanctuary.…

Whilst it was heartbreaking to learn of the elephants previous lives it was heartlifting to see them recovering in a respectful supportive environment. I had no hesitations purchasing add ons to support these magnificient beings. It was such a joyful experience to scrub and bathe with them, I am so glad I bought the usb stick with all the daily photos, priceless memories.…
