We visited here with our rental car on a 26km circuit from our Kata Beach hotel, 1st stopping at the Karon Viewpoint and Rawai Beach.
We came in the morning, parking in its free lot and walking up to its Phra Phrom Square, a Brahma shrine encircled with elephants. Just beyond is this unusual lighthouse, built in 1996 with a memorial to the King, faces the open sea and is widely known for its sunset crowds.
A bit further up the coastal road is the small triangular Yanui Beach, best seen from the Windmill Viewpoint, which also shows the larger 500m Nai Harn Beach, anchored by its white 5* hotel and the Temple/Monastery of the same name.

If you love taking photos, Promthep is definitely a great place to go. The view is amazing! You should go early morning before 9.30am to avoid the tourist crowd and not too hot to walk around. We've been there 3 times and it's windy most of the time so be careful of your hats/caps flying away lol. We had our pre-wedding photos taken there and the outcome is Amazingly gorgeous.

Another must see landmark when you visit Phuket! Very, very busy at Sunset but the view is terrific. The colour of the water is extraordinary.

This is at a edge of the island. Many people visit this place. You have walk a bit along garve road to reach the sea.

We didn’t get to see the sunset as it was a cloudy day but still got to see the amazing views from the top near the light house.
It will always be a hit or miss but would be worth it if you got to see the sunset.

We had visited the Promthep Cape during our sightseeing in Phuket and this old Lighthouse is located here. This place is very well maintained with a monument and naval exhibits. The cape area offers breathtaking views of blue sea dotted with white yachts.

This is one of the best viewpoints of Phuket. You get to enjoy the beautiful colours of the turquoise ocean perfectly from here. There are comfortable stairs to access the hill top. From here you can visit the lighthouse and look around the beautiful Promthep Cape.

The place and view is awesome, long view of blue sea, with little rock islands. Gets little hot if you be there in noon time, but otherwise a must-go place

It takes about 45-60 minutes on a scooter from Patong depending on your speed and halts on the way. The road from Patong to Promthep is absilutely scenic and a few beaches are on the way. Once you get to the cape, the view is absolutely stunning. If the sky is clear, the water appears absolutely blue and beautiful. Make sure you don't get to the end of the cliff nor it could result in a major accident. Mother nature can be dangerous some times. Make sure you carry water, sunglasses, a hat and some sunscreen as the place it's quite hot. There are many Japanese tourists buses and the place can be flooded with them. Make sure you carry coins so you can use the telescope placed on the cape. There is no entry charge. Smoking and drinking is strictly prohibited and attracts a 2000 Bahts fine.

By the time we reached Promthep Cape, car park lots are almost full and there are a lot of tourists. The ledge is filled with tourists taking photos and it is hard to find a perfect spot for the photo taking. The scenery and windy make up for it though. Although filled with tourists, it is a definitely must go places in phuket as it offered stunning view of the sea and island. Highly recommended.
