First and foremost the Police are corrupt, Be very careful renting vehicles or scooters because if any “accidents” are to happen you will be at fault no matter what (being a tourist). Training the traditional Muay Thai sport was a blast and the food was very good as well. Driving around the city’s can be hectic as it’s basically every man/ woman for themselves. The drivers are reckless as ever. Sure cost of living is affordable but ultimately Phuket has left a sour taste in my mouth after our 3 week experience. I encourage all future travellers to be careful and I truly hope the Thai embassy does something about their not so honest Police. As a female I was almost held hostage while my boyfriend was told to drive to our hotel to basically pay the police to release us because of a scratch on a rental scooter. I’m sure you can imagine where this could have gone if my boyfriend agreed to going. Thankfully he persisted and did not leave me alone. I would recommend walking around with a go pro or something that records day to day living. You could always save yourself the hassle and not travel here either.. disappointed with how we were treated and will NEVER return to this so called land of smiles…

If you're Australian, early 20s and not with a group of people don't go! This is not a safe place to be. Many locals overcharged exorbitant prices and were rude. They're only after your money and to rip you off and all the good locals must stay in other areas. Bartenders also spike your drinks. Police plant drugs on you and force you to pay fines or go to jail. Police were pulling foreigners over in their tuktuks late at night and forcing them to pay fines or risk going to jail... the fine had to be paid and left on the ground under a rock and they wouldn't take it in hand and risk being videod.. I was pulled over and they said I had sleeping pills which were illegal but are available without a prescription from the local chemist and fined $1,000 AUD which I had to drop on the floor under a rock or risk getting taken to jail. They took all my stuff ransom while I went to my hotels ATM.. Being alone with 6 officers in uniform forcing you to pay money or go to jail leaves you with little choice and my fight was the next morning and I couldn't risk it. Way to ruin a trip that was already lackluster and it's no wonder they're so corrupt.. taking my money and the other foreigners that night would've made them a killing and i lost all respect for this country. DO NOT GO!!!

Don't go here if you want to see thailand. This is is worst of the worst places I went to in thailand. Nothing authentic. Dirty, over built and over populated with tourists some seeking the sleezy side of thailand. Traffic is worse than bangkok plus you need to add in the idiot tourists on motorbikes. There is nothing left of this once beautiful island. Go to ao nang krabi instead or visit pang nga near Phuket which has waterfalls, Caves, jungle adventure and you can hire your own long-tail boat from the bay for 1500 Baht and visit the islands

I wish I didn't spend my hard earned money and time off on coming to this garbage infested place. Really, everywhere we went we found piles of trash. The beaches are horrible, plastic and rubbish scattered around for the length of the beach. Every beach. We tried to find a clean one and e couldn't. It's painful to see aside from the fact that it takes away every shred of vacation mood you might have. SHAME on whomever is running this place!!! It is a disgusting place nobody should consider vacationing in. I want my money back.

Phuket 🇹🇭 was our first trip and it really won our hearts. The people are humble and kind, the beautiful beaches, mountains, many adventures and not forgetting the food and night life. Recommended for all the people who want to have a phenomenal gateway, will definitely return to Thailand, big love!!
