This is a well known massage venue that features visually impaired masseuses. The rooms vary in size from one bed in single room to many floor mattresses in larger rooms. Reservations for popular staff are recommended, but "drop in" guests will find several available. All staff speak English well, are courtious, and responsive to individual massage needs. This reviewer has had massages in shops from one end of Pattaya to Jomtien, but once he discovered the TMBI, in the Jomtien Complex, he has remained a steady client. Moreover, it is across the busy street from the condo in which he has lived for 18 years.

Totally terrific 2hr Thai massage. Be prepared to either wear your undies or street clothes (your choice). Very large Russian contingent of customers. Some of the masseuse were even speaking Russian with their clients. Environment is not fancy. The price is right and the massages very good.

The TBMI is located in the Jomtien Complex nearly next to the Ganymede Resort & Spa, and 5 minutes walk from Jomtien Beach. My first attempt to get a massage was not successful as it was booked out, so a booking is recommended. You can select who you want for the massage from a notice board full of photos, however I said I would have whoever was available. There is a price list which is cheaper than nearby massage places (i.e. under 200B per hour, or slightly more for oil). I chose to have an oil massage. My massuer was in a curtained off area waitng for me when I arrived. He gestured to a hook to hang my clothes. I was a bit surprised when he indicated that everything should come off, however as he was blind there didnt seem any reason for false modesty. The massage itself was superb. Not surprisingly he was most intuitive, and gave a strong, deep massage which I would rank as one of the best I have ever had. I could hear 2 Russian women next to me who were having a great time laughing and groaning (with pleasure). They had a masseuse. I think that this place serves 2 obvious purposes---it provides a facility for a fantastic massage, and also provides emplyment for the very skilled staff working there. I highly recommend having a massage at the TBMI. One curious thing---at the end of ther massage the massuer disappeared. I wanted to tip him and had to go and look for him. I eventually found him at an area at the back of the ground floor where the masseurs rest after a massage. I have been told by friends that they also had to search for their masseur. I look forward to going there next time I am in Pattaya/Jomtien.

I have had a couple of massages in Thailand now.. some on more or less good streets and some in massage schools like What Po. This was by far the best i have ever had and the cheapest. If you're in Jomtien or Pattaya it's worth the trip.
And it's a good cause providing work to blind people.

Be aware that not all the staff are blind.
We just had a massage my female partner got a lovely lady who gave a nice massage to her, she had obviously impaired vision and she was friendly and did a great job.
I got a masseur and I have no issue at all with that, however throughout the entire massage he could not stop looking at my partner and got particularly interested in her when she turned over. She is fairly well-endowed in the chest department and safe to say this "blind" masseur got a really great look at her whilst trying, and failing, to appear blind.
It made the whole experience very awkward for us both and would definitely advise any couples to insist upon to female massage therapists.
We did not mind that not all the therapists are blind but to have them try to pretend to be blind whilst staring at a woman's breast seems like a fairly poor business practice.

Enjoy an excellent oil massage, or Thai style massage, in clean, fan cooled or air-conditioned rooms. And provide employment for blind Thais !
Advise the receptionist which type of massage you require, how long (1 to 2 hours) and whether you want a strong or gentle massage.
The costs are no more than you will pay for a massage on the sand at the beach.
And when you finish, they offer you a complimentary tea or coffee on the front porch.
The TBMI is in the middle of the Jontiem Complex. Ask your accommodation provider or locals, who should be able to give you directions.

Knowing what the place is and what it does and how it employs the blind folks to employment it’s very hard to honest about the reality of this place but I shall. From the moment you walk into the reception the staff are not very friendly or welcoming. I had a thai 1 hour dry massage. I was led into a room which had 4 customers in there having there massages. Note not all the staff are blind. The staff that did my massage was rude, making fun of me, the masseuses were talking and I could tell they were making fun of my weight (I have an average chunky European body) the massage itself was very painful and it was difficult to tell her even though at the reception I did say to them I want a medium pressure massage. Would I recommend this place NO! Even though it’s a great idea they have GOOD practices that they need to implement into this place before it can become a place worth going to!

If you get the right one then they can fix issues you have had for years. And some you didn't know you had. I have 2 hours to give them time to find and fix all the problems. I have been going there for over 10 years and all is good and 360 baht for 2 hours is hard to beat

I've heard that the blind give a better massage as they are supposed to have a better understanding of the body than someone who can see. Not so sure about that. I had three full body massages and one foot massage. It was therapeutic, but once they get started they don't respect your threshold for pain, nor do they care, so be very clear with the reception when you ask for a massage what your needs are. Let them know you want a light, medium or deep massage. I asked the blind masseur that worked on me to go easier during the massage and sadly he became angry. This happened on two occasions. His demeanor and anger really ruined if for me. The idea of supporting the blind is a beautiful one, but i got the feeling these blind people are overworked and probably underpaid. As for the facility, I'm certain they aren't changing sheets in between massages but it didn't seem dirty to me. There's probably no regulation of this industry. So I always went first thing in the morning because it appeared the sheets were clean. I had 2 Thai body massages and a third that was stopped because the masseur Mr. Rot became angry at my request to ease up. I had a foot massage that was super painful even though i asked during the massage for it to be done a little easier. He just continued on. Overall, it was an ok massage. As i said earlier you'll be wise to tell them the kind of massage you want.

I continue to return here every time I visit Jomtien. With over 30 massage therapists to choose from - there truly is someone for everyone's taste. They have both male and female therapists, and you can request someone who is skilled at soft, medium or strong touch. Traditional Thai massages are done in larger more communal type rooms, and the oil massages are offered in more private settings. There is a "menu" of therapies the offer and varying lengths.
