We go to Thailand since 2000. Jomtien Beach for accommodation is convenient because on the one hand, not far from the center, 20 minutes on a tuk-tuk, 10 baht per person, and on the other, a quieter, calmer atmosphere and water in the sea a...More
This is a real shame, I really liked the beach but the beach hawkers ruined my experience. They even tap you and pull at you while you're eyes closed, sunbathing. Something needs to be done here or visiters will be driven away. The services of...More
A relaxed version of Pattaya main beach. Strong Russian presence and if walking towards Pattya a pleasant beach as well..although it is a gay beach.
The water here is not as polluted and les crowded. It is laid back and as a rule of thumb...More
It's not the cleanest of beaches I have visited in Thailand, but maybe I am spoilt living on Koh Samui.
The nice thing is that it's quiet, there are no bars pumping out music, you can sit and relax, read a book or just enjoy...More
The place is better than Pattaya but is full of Russians. Didn't see any cockroaches here but not saying there aren't any. Didn't see any rats here either but again not saying there aren't any, saw lots of rats in Pattaya which is filthy, smelly...More
Despite all the good things we heard about this beach, unfortunately the water does not look very attractive. I have to admit that it is better than Pattaya beach, as the number of boats and jet skis is smaller - yet being very close to...More

Hi, this is Jan!
I am in Jomtien since five years, staying always at the same hotel (about 80 nights a year: Poseidon - not the cheapest one but very good in my eyes; but there are cheaper options nearby) and never felt boring. I only go to Pattaya for shopping or playing badminton or so. Otherwise Pattaya is too touristic for me. Please make sure you stay close to Dongtan Beach - then you are more or less in the heart of Jomtien. The gay area here (if you looking for that) is even bigger and better than in Pattaya. Anyway: Do not expect lovely beaches here like in the Thailand-Brochures. The beaches are ok, but not like in some Thailand advertisements.
If you have further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me here.
Best regards and have fun in the country of smile!

Avoid Nong Nooch due to the animal abuse there.

Anyone any info on 2010's tournament taking place again this year. Think it was start of nov last year. 4 or 5 day event. Great spectacle. Teams from England Germany Holland Thailand Sweden Finland Ireland etc. Not a brilliant standard of footy but good craic. Well organised, Thai cheerleaders and stands for spectators. Hopefully it'll be on again when i arrive for 23 days on nov 5th.

You do see tourists with with children staying in cheaper hotels. Maybe that is the best they can afford, but they probably love their kids as much as you. How much do you do you want to spend on this "BEST child friendly hotel?" A few places show up when you use the forum search. Are you looking for a baby sitter? Sample forum search below.: tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g293919-i9439-k586… I think most any hotel will be okay for you. You may have to pay for a roll out bed for the...More
