About
The complex is only a 120-kilometre drive from Suvarnabhumi airport and a mere 40 kilometres from Pattaya’s U-Tapao airport. Modern and elegant, the King Power Pattaya Complex is located a few metres away from the Sukhumvit Road, showcasing a beautiful architectural accomplishment at its entrance, and multifunctional piazza-like surroundings available for various activities and uses. The entrance hall and ceiling embellishments likened to the filigree patterns found in traditional Thai design emulate the Rangnam Complex. The interior design also takes influence from Thai handicrafts and glimmers like multifaceted spun fibre, with metal sheets of stainless steel silver interwoven with walls of woven gold. The effect of these surfaces when light meets them is to shimmer and shine with multiple depth and beauty. In addition to its architectural intelligence, the complex was also created to be environmentally friendly, engineered in such a way so as to control the use of resources and energy. As a result, the complex received a gold level certification called the “Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)” from the US Green Building Council (USGBC) in the United States, which is the recognized body of authority in certifying and recognizing energy saving standards globally. In 2014, the King Power Pattaya Complex also won a Thailand Energy Award 2014 for being a green building.

We arrived at the King Power outlet at 10am and we were unaware that it only officially opens at 11am.

The security guard at the entrance road to the property demanded: 1. Where are you going? and then stated 2. Look at sign (opening times) and simply pointed in a dismissive manner.

May I suggest that the management inform their security team staff that a more appropriate customer friendly
response would have been to smile at the potential customer and say in Thai language: 'So sorry Sir/Madam but we are not yet open. The store only opens at 11am.
First impressions still count!

Smallish outlet of duty free items in sukhumvit road, probably the best for high end watches and cosmetics (due to variety, not necessarily prices). Clothes selection is rather poor. Bought Items to pick up at the airport. All in all, not really a good place for shipping for Europeans or Americans, better deals await at home.

Took absolute ages to pay at the cash desk because of the queue of mass tourists who each wanted their individual purchases separated.

Then they could not get my Thai bank card to work....so I had to walk to the other hall to withdraw cash....to be honest not sure if a bank problem. But because my cash withdrawal worked I suspect it was a problem with their checkout desk card authorisation device.

Good selection of items. Less stress than shopping in a rush at the airport.

King Power is the company which controls Duty Free Shopping in Thailand. This Pattaya outlet is just an offspring from the International airport's King Power outlets. As with the King Power Duty Free shops in the airport, you will find mostly everything more expensive here than in regular retail shops in town.

The king power Pattaya is about 10 mins drive from my hotel near the beach road. The shopping complex is huge in size and has some of the best brands to offer. We were mostly attracted to high end brands of duty free cigarettes and alcohol. The store however seemed a little under stocked as there were large gaps from one showcase area to another. Apparels seemed a little under stocked as there were only handful of brands. But who cares about the apparel if you get a JD red label for a third of the price back at hometown. Cheers!

Before we visited, I went on the website and saw a lot of brands that I recognized and love. I was expecting to get some shirts and jeans, also some electronics for me and loved ones. But apparently, there was only at best 40-50% of the brands that they said is there on the website. On top of that, some stores that I liked had a very limited selection to choose from. Despite the duty free discounts that seemed to attracted A LOT of Chinese tourists, the entire place seemed more like a old airport terminal with some severely understocked stores. All in all, if you're looking for some true shopping experience, I HIGHLY recommend you look somewhere else in pattaya, or take the 90 minute drive to Bangkok for some much better places to shop. DO NOT COME HERE!!!!! I REPEAT!!! DO NOT COME HERE!!!

I checked this place out before a coffee meeting over the road.
I must say i wasn't impressed at all. It was uninviting as soon as you walked in.
Big open spaces with nothing.
Go to any of the hundreds of other shopping malls for a better shopping experience at cheaper prices.

This review will be similar to my one for the Bkk airport branch. We bought some clothing here last week and just picked up our items at the airport. The service from start to finish was exceptional.

Yesterday I endured a visit to the Kingpower "duty free" shopping nightmare on Bangkok's Soi Rangnam. I cringed when I arrived and saw at least thirty huge tour buses. As it turned out, the place was packed with Chinese tourists buying everything they could cram into a bus.

I live in Bangkok and travel frequentlly and my "member card" had expired. I obediently followed the instructions in a text message received on my phone to show up in person, renew, and get a 1,000 voucher that could be used at the airport. This is the second time I have had to renew and managed to find my way to the office where this is done--at the very end of a long one-way-in/one-way-out route that leads you through tourist junk, designer "shops," luggage, watches, cosmetics, and eventually electronics.

Several items caught my eye along the way, including a carry-on bag with wheels, a couple of watches, and a couple of electronic items. I had seen similar or identical items in the Emporium shopping complex the weekend before, and Kingpower's prices were all higher. At Suvarnabhumi airport, where Kingpower has a virtual monopoly I have seen bottles of wine that I buy for 249 baht at the the rather-expensive supermarket where I shop selling for about 450 baht!

If you foolishly draw the conclusion that "duty free" means "lower prices," you are throwing away money, and Kingpower takes full advantage.

And my member card? After being scrutinized by a clerk I was sent downstairs to stand in a very long queue. When it was my turn I was asked for my passpsort and work permit (which were not mentioned in the text message), which I did not have, and a 1,000 baht renewal fee which had to be paid in cash. I told them they could keep their card. I will buy my duty free goods in Singapore, Hong Kong, and London, where "duty free" really does mean you save money.
