It is a good place to visit if you like to see this sort of thing. It is usually very busy. Behind the buddah there is a nice view of the city scape.

The zipline is approximately 10 minute drive. You can walk to the Pattaya hilltop city park from Big Buddha.

About half hour walk or 10 minutes by motor bike taxi. Taxis are not metres in Pattaya. So you could try the 10 baht bus going up Soi Buakao or walk to baech road and get a baht bus there. Take a baht bus from South Pattaya... More

Thailand Trip/ Early August (2 Replies)
Hi all! I am in the process of booking my honeymoon to Thailand but I am a bit in between which cities to visit from the things I would like to do. I am planning to arrive on Bangkok staying there 2 nights to do tours, then flying to Phuket and staying there 4 nights, lastly I don't know if I should go with Krabi or Chiang Mai or even Phi Phi Islands. These are definitely some of the tours I would like to do: Monkey Hill Big Buddha Floating Market Tiger Kingdom Elephants ...More

If you only have 6 nights then adding a third place would be too much. Stick to Bangkok and do: Floating Market on one day - it's an hour and a half outside Bangkok, so you will need to book a tour which will leave early in the morning and have you back by lunch time. In Phuket you can do all the other things, but not sure if you will be able to fit them all in as you will need a day for James Bond Island and a day for Phi Phi.

Nei Lak Shan Country Trail - impacted by cable car closure? (2 Replies)
Just wanted to check if the Nei Lak Shan Country Trail is still accessible while the Ngong Ping cable car is closed? If anyone has any suggestions on where roughly the best spots on the trail are for viewing the Big Buddha (assuming the trail is still open), that would be greatly appreciated. I'm using Google Earth to help but so far it hasn't been of much use.

I've heard the rescue trail is closed, but that's it. Never walked it, no idea where the best spots are. Use OpenStreetMap with the Cycle layer to get contour lines. That should help a lot. Anyway you'll be pretty far away from the Buddha if you're on that mountain.
Big Buddha and Tai O (4 Replies)
Hello, I am coming to Hong Kong in 3 weeks and really looking forward to it. My flight from the UK lands at 7am and since I won't be able to check into my hotel, I have taken advice from this forum and plan to go to see the Big Buddha and visit tai O first. From reading the forum I know how to get to the cable car, how to get the bus to Tai O and then back again. My question is.... What will be the best way to get back to my hotel - YMCA Salisbury, with my luggage etc. Bearing in mind I...More

If Best doesn't mean cheapest, I'd take a taxi. This will give you a rough idea of the fare. https://www.taxifarefinder.com/main.php?city=Hong-Kong-China&from=Tai+O%2C+Hong+Kong&to=YMCA+OF+HONG+KONG%2C+Salisbury+Road%2C+Hong+Kong&fromCoord=22.2582479,113.85996090000003&toCoord=22.295123,114.17111599999998
