- Mark WilliamBangkok, Thailand49 contributionsExpected more. Needs some maintenance.Solo trip to the garden after living in Samui for 3 months. I have to admit that with 80 baht entrance fee I'd have hoped for a better kept garden. There are buildings full of litter and doors rotting away to nothing. All the paths are completely covered in slime and a lot of the statues are too. Some of the entrance fee should be used to keep the garden well maintained and fix the broken statues and buildings. Some information about the statues would be good too. Pretty overrated in my opinion and mosquito haven!Visited June 2020Traveled soloWritten July 2, 2020
- TaherAlbaghliJulianKuwait City, Kuwait1,982 contributionscool and worth the visitIt is one of the most important landmarks of Koh Samui Island. People visiting Koh Samui Island come to the garden as a part of their day trip or it is included in their tour package. In the garden, you can find numerous figurines in different poses – sitting down, standing, waving, dancing, and playing musical instruments. Besides the statues of gods and goddesses, you can also see animal sculptures in the park such as a bird pulling out a worm from the pond. Note: 1- that you should wear comfortable clothes and athletic shoes and be in good shape because you will need to walk great distances. 2-I advise you to book this trip with a group because most of the drivers are private, taking tourists and asking for large amounts of money. The fee fee of 80 Baht per person.Visited July 2022Written August 8, 2022
- Kendra PThe Netherlands48 contributionsBeautiful to seeVisited on our own. So beautiful to see and experience. Playful garden, everywhere you look you see something different. Turtle sculpture along the water, dancing sculptures, mushroom like umbrella all made of stone or concrete. Not sure how long it too or what his vision was. But a must see. Took a scooter up the mountain. Bit steep at times but really doable.Visited January 2020Traveled as a coupleWritten January 26, 2020
- Merike TEstonia50 contributionsA trip back in timeThat was a really interesting trip, all the statues, little houses, the small waterfall and the dzungel, it made me feel like i have travelled back in time. It was beautiful and our guide told us very interesting stories of the history of this garden. Felt like im in a adventure movie where im discovering a lost city. This place felt very mystical to me!Visited December 2019Written January 4, 2020

Amazing artsy place. Take mosquito repellant. On our way back, The front breaks got too hot and stopped working! We had no water to cool off the disk break, so we waited for 10 minutes. Be extra careful with this potential issue. Must visit though.Visited January 2020Traveled with familyWritten January 4, 2020
- WayneBangkok, Thailand55 contributionsNice for a family visitHard drive up some steep roads but easy to find and GPS is accurate. I'm sure farrang are charged more than Thai but the lady selling tickets would not tell us prices individually. A lovely idea built by 1 man to create a peaceful rest area. Stone statues and Buddha's line a small streamed Waterfall. Great place to get family photo's. 30 minutes was enough to see all and enjoy the calm.Visited April 2021Traveled with familyWritten April 9, 2021
- TamaraK03Laufenburg, Switzerland74 contributionsStunning placeIt is not an easy ride to approach the place but truly worth it. This is the rainy season so the whole place looks like that a former city would sink under a huge amount of water. Of course be careful as moss is everywhere so the rocks are really slippery and use a good mosquito spray before entering ;)Visited October 2022Traveled with familyWritten October 7, 2022
- Beth B24 contributionsA mystical place to visit! One not to be missedSuch a unique thing to visit! A must for anyone who loves exploring and seeing unusual/cultural things. The secret Buddha garden was quiet magical as I was the only person there and had the whole place to myself. It would have been nice to know abit more about it and some history and meanings of the statues, however I enjoyed the mystery around it still. The journey up there is not impossible on a scooter like lots of people state, the road itself is in good condition you just need to be a confident driver as it is steep in some places and not a quick drive up either, took about 15 minutes to get up from the main road still. The cost to visit is 80tbh, there are toilets and refreshments availableVisited February 2022Traveled soloWritten February 4, 2022
- Lauren ADarlington, United Kingdom97 contributionsOk but not a must seeIts drive up into the mountains to the gardens so only accessible by car/scooter unless you are super hikers! We went mid afternoon and it was sooo busy so hard to get good photos and just take time to chill. The statues are great but it wasnt as grand as i imagined. I wouldnt say that its a MUST see but if you have time & want to see every tourist attraction then sure, pay a visit. Its 80baht entry fee & there is a cafe at the beginning.Visited December 2019Traveled as a coupleWritten January 31, 2020

Take a trip to another time and another world - beautiful scenery and well maintained grounds, statues & old school village/buildings. On top of a very small mountain or if you consider it a giant hill of Koh Samui.
Lies a small Secret Buhda Garden, mystical at first sight, as well something out of a classic adventure movie.
How to get to this amazing place is by going up up hill on some sketchy roads (Note: These roads are under construction as well, some sections range from new, old, and just gravel.)
If you uneasy for the trip up under these conditions, then I suggest do not make it.
Caution roads are very turns, as well hilly trust me this might make anyone nervous. Drive the speed limit!
But for me personally was worth the trip, the views driving up one of a kind as well the excitement!
Once you reach location, you will find a small parking lot as well a cafe/shop. For foreigners will cost only 80 Baht free for Thai maybe due to Covid.
As you walk down the hill you will get a rush of Adrenalin, and like an spooky feeling. Once you see the wonders down there it will just take your breath away, as you feel uneasy like stepping on holy grounds of sorts. But you see it’s been turned into a amusement park, so you get the feel that this holy soot was tarnished.
History: This place was just a normal water fall, and river. Created by a local fruit farmer who dreamed big, created this small park, and was completed 1976. But due to location, as well no one maintaining the location properly, has gained its eerie feel that what is known now.
Personally feel like there is something more to this location, so respect it like you would a temple. Truly a one of a kind marvel, for any adventurer to enjoy. Caution where you walk can get hurt from things falling apart. Worth the drive up, as crazy drive down.
From this spot you can actually go from one side of the island to the other. So plan your trip to do exactly this!
Be safe, and have fun at this amazing location!

Rent a scooter a ride up the crazy road to the top of the mountain to arrive at this attraction. They have food, drinks and toilets and you’ll only need an hour max to slowly walk through and enjoy the Buddha garden. Great for taking fun and creative pictures, especially on a sunny day!

Fun for the children. They played in the houses and huts and posed with the statues. We tied it in with a day tour which made it worth the visit. At the time it was 80baht to visit and that seems fine for an hour or fun.

I don’t think so, you have to move through arrow placed and stairs, it will be very hard with a infant or a child

We will be staying at a resort near the Lamai Night Market.
How easy is to rent a scooter? Are driving laws easy to learn? We are from the USA and would like to ride a scooter up to the Secret Buddha temple.
Also how easy is it to get to this destination via scooter?

It’s easy to rent a bike, but sometimes they keep your passport under the time and sometimes are the rent expensive so go around and look first.
In Thailand are they driving on the left side, so no. It’s not hard. But it’s much information at one time.
And were helmets, the police checking farangs a lot.
I always drive with a gps on my phone.

Can you hire a 4x4 to get up the last part?
We would get a taxi there but a normal taxi wouldn't make it up the final part would it?
How do people access the garden without booking on a tour?
Thank you

We booked a scooter and was able to drive up the hill easily. There are two routes, one requires a 4x4 the other does not. If you leave the waterfalls and turn right (not left as most people will tell you) you will see a 7-11, turn up the road and follow it. Abnormal car and scooter will get up the hill just fine. We did everything independently. Good luck!
Hi, is it possible to walk up the hill and if so how long will it take? or is a car needed to get to the garden?

No. Definitely wouldn't walk it - need a car or moped. It's pretty steep and no real paths.
