Not what you’d expect....buyer beware!
Apr 2021 • Solo
First of all, I want to start by saying that I am fully aware given these COVID times companies have had to make changes quickly. Lack of customers has caused many to adjust their services and cut costs where they can. But I just traveled from Bangkok to Koh Phangan with Lomprayah and it was not as I expected and thought people should be aware of what they are getting into. For 1350 Baht, what was advertised to me was a one-way ticket in a large luxury bus and then a high-speed catamaran...what should have been a relatively comfortable overnight trip done in 12-13 hours. What I got was a shuttle and a small, packed speed boat and a trip that took 18 hours. No one informed me of any changes beforehand, which could have given me the opportunity to change my plans. I would have flown instead! And it would have cost relatively the same amount! I appreciate the many staff who I met along the way who were very kind and understanding, which is why I gave 2 stars. But buyer beware...right now the trip is nothing like what they advertise. And until things get back to normal, I won’t be traveling with Lomprayah again. You can get the same trip they offer for much cheaper.

Terrible Service
Feb 2021 • Solo
The boat itself is good but the service is terrible. The boat was 30 mins late and all the staff are very rude and refuse to help you with your luggage.

Better to find another boat service.

Careless handling of luggage; rude customers and unprofessional staff
Dec 2019
When entering the Lomprayah boat we had to leave our bags in the front of the cabin where a pile of luggages of the in coming customers was being built. This same pile of bags was later; during the crossing, used by some of the crew to sit or to lean on.
So luggage wasn‘t handled carefully here.
It was even worse for the suitcases that were kept outside the cabin under a tarpaulin not good enough to protect the luggages from the waves or the rain.
On arrival at Ko Tao, we had to return to the front of the cabin to take our luggage from the pile and then go in the back again to the rear exit.
This was very uncomfortable as everybody going to Ko Tao was doing the same and everybody bumped with his bag into other customers who were obstructing the aisle because they had to queue up to get their luggage.
The handling of luggage could certainly be organised in a responsable, intelligent and professional manner.
To make it worse, during the crossing the French man sitting in the row behind us decided to stretch his legs and lent his feet onto the side window in front of him, just 5 centimers far from my face and became aggressive when I asked him to be polite enough to remove his feet from my face.

Disorganised and late. Do not recommend
Jul 2020 • Couples
We were first on the list for our boat at 1300 but we were then told the boat was full so we’re transferred for 20 minutes to another pier to take another later boat, which was late. There was basically zero communication of what was going on through this process. Stressful experience with this company. Use an alternative service if at all possible.

Koh Samui to Koh Tao

The checkin process is simple and efficent. Boarding can take about 45 mins on a busy departure and being on early gives you a chance to pick your seat. Indoor seating is available for 100BHT per person if you fancy upgrading but also be aware that you could get moved to the indoor seated area if the boat is full and the aisles are blocked. travel was calm and being someone that suffers from travel sickenss i was worried, but i didnt need to be. even on the return journey that was rougher the boat was fast and smoothe with only minor undulation. All in, a good experiance and one i would do again. You do wonder how they control all the baggage to make sure who gets what is right but it does happen as you would want. Good job!!

Organized, Comfortable, Effective and Efficient!

Could not have asked for a better experience on a transfer from land to island. The bus to boat experience was extremely efficient in addition to how they handled luggage. Wonderful experience overall.

Phagnan to Samui in 30mins? Not likely

Late. Late. Late. That’s just not good enough for 300thb. Should have booked with Seatran. Try another operator.

Valuable employee!
Feb 2020 • Solo
I'm a regular user of Lomprayah, mostly on the Phangan - Samui route. Recently I've become very aware of the Lomprayah employee, a Thai lady whose name I understand to be Pi Yai.
At the Lomprayah pier on Koh Phangan, she regularly uses a P.A. system, to advise tourists and locals alike, of arrival and departure times, boarding procedures, destinations, and stops en route. She provides an excellent service keeping everyone entertainingly informed. She indeed is a valuable employee. Well done young lady! Keep up the good work!

Do not use this company, they will steal from your luggage.  My husband and I booked the ferry from Koh Samui, which included bus transfer to Surat Thani airport.  When we got off the ferry to get on the bus, we gave our suitcases to the man collecting luggage.  We said that we wanted to hold on to our backpacks, but he told us there was no room on the bus (there was) and that we must put them with the luggage.  The woman taking tickets to board the bus was telling us to hurry and that the bus would leave without us, so we unfortunately handed over our backpacks.  The crew that loads the bags then stayed in the luggage hold for the entire trip.  Luckily we had just counted our cash, so we knew exactly how much we had.  When we arrived at the airport and were given our bags back we immediately counted the money and realized $400 USD was missing.  The guys who stay in the luggage hold clearly go through the bags, which is why they were so insistent that we hand over our backpacks.  My husband confronted the bus driver who asked him to get back on the bus to discuss the situation (we now realize he didn't want us making a scene in front of other passengers so that they too would check their bags).  My husband told him $400 USD was missing and the bus driver gave us 9000 THB (turns out this was only $285) no questions asked and then asked us not to tell anyone what happened.  He clearly knew that the money had been stolen and wanted to shut us up.  I'm sure 9000 THB was nothing compared to what they actually got away with stealing.  We were so upset and in a rush to catch our flight that we just took the money and got the hell out of there.  Once we were inside the airport we went to a money exchange because we were leaving Thailand and had no use for THB, which is when we realized they shorted us $115, plus we had to pay the exchange fee.  We went to the Lomprayah counter in the airport, but of course it was closed.  We decided to go back outside and confront the bus driver, but they were gone.  We have tried contacting them, but no one will respond to us.

I know everyone is saying "don't hand over your valuables," but they will rush you and make it seem like they're going to leave without you if you don't hand over all of your things.  They were also super late, which is why we were in such a hurry.  Please just avoid this company altogether.  We used Seatran for our transportation to Koh Samui and they were amazing, go with them instead of this shady joke of a company.
