Lomprayah took us from Bangkok to Koh Tao and later from Koh Tao to Koh Phangan. The Bangkok-Koh Tao journey was really good and convinient the bus had A/C and we were well on time. Also the boat transfer from Chumphon to Koh Tao was good. After exiting the bus we were in the boat within the next 30 minutes. Weather was really good and it was a nice 1 hour and 45 minute trip. However, when we went from Koh Tao to Koh Phangan four days later weather conditions were rough. I think we were actually in the middle of a storm and it felt as if the captain was going through it full speed. It was extremely scary and I would never do that again. People were lying on the floor vomiting into the distributed red sick bags even some of the staff members did so! People were screaming and the catamaran crashed from one wave into another. I felt really unsafe! Overall I can really recommend this service when the weather is good, especially the bus, it is really uncomplicated!

Unless you feel totally safe at sea and are somewhat adventurous I would really not advise you to go on that boat when weather is bad... it was honestly one of the three most scariest moments in my life ...

First of all, I want to start by saying that I am fully aware given these COVID times companies have had to make changes quickly. Lack of customers has caused many to adjust their services and cut costs where they can. But I just traveled from Bangkok to Koh Phangan with Lomprayah and it was not as I expected and thought people should be aware of what they are getting into. For 1350 Baht, what was advertised to me was a one-way ticket in a large luxury bus and then a high-speed catamaran...what should have been a relatively comfortable overnight trip done in 12-13 hours. What I got was a shuttle and a small, packed speed boat and a trip that took 18 hours. No one informed me of any changes beforehand, which could have given me the opportunity to change my plans. I would have flown instead! And it would have cost relatively the same amount! I appreciate the many staff who I met along the way who were very kind and understanding, which is why I gave 2 stars. But buyer beware...right now the trip is nothing like what they advertise. And until things get back to normal, I won’t be traveling with Lomprayah again. You can get the same trip they offer for much cheaper.

We used Lomprayah to get from Ao Nang, Krabi to Koh phangyan, then from KPY to Koh Tao and again from KT to Koh Samui.
All tickets were booked with 12goasia. We booked in advance as we wanted to include some of the the pick up and drop offs to hotels.
It probably is cheaper to book at the ticket office, and many people do this. I like to be super organised.
Yes, there are over 100 people using the service, yes you feel like cattle, yes they do bark orders, but they have times to be boarded by and to leave by. They are organised and if you do as your told, it goes to plan! We kept our backpacks on us and took into the main cabin instead of putting on the front of the ferry.

The mini van and bus from Ao Nang / Krabi to Surat thani were comfortable and quick! We also received a drink and a biscuit snack.
VIP room is payable - which has air con, and the staff do check if you have paid for it!

Booked transport package from Koh Phangan to Phi Phi Islands, consisting of a ferry then minibus then speedboat. Extremely well organised - from the first pier you are instructed by the many staff on which queue to be in and which boat or bus to board. The speedboat over to phi phi was a pretty choppy ride but it was super fun. Recommend.

As we arrived 1h earlier to complete the COVID formalities before boarding the ferry, we could see the morning ferry coming back to the pier. As expected, this was the legendary catamaran sending the tourists back to the main shore.

However, as our turn to board the ferry came, we were surprised not to be led to the wide catamaran which had just returned, but to a much smaller speedboat instead.

As it turned out, all 75 passengers were crammed in such small area, no social distancing whatsoever, a horrendous heat under the rubber roof top and side panels, and no view at all on the outside scenery. Trapped!!!

The trip lasted way more than 2hrs, notably because of repeated engine failures.

The relief once arrived was more then spoiled knowing we will have to endure the same at the return trip.

My wife and I have sailed from koh phangan to don sak pier. We had a very bad experience! I am I sailer by heart, I have sailed all over world. The company did ignore most safety protocols. This company did nothing to accommodate safety. We where told that we where going to sail by ferry, but no. We had to go by speedboat. The maximum of people allow on board was 70. We were 73 people and a lot of goods and luggage. So the boat was clearly overpacked.

The weather was rainy and the wind about 8-10 meters per second. Which is too much when sailing a small speedboat. After 30 minutes of sailing we hit big wave, so big that the stern and the parts of the cockpit was submerged in water. So all the luggage and us got completely soaked! The crew are clearly not educated for this task. They even hit stuff in the water even though it was high tide.

When entering the Lomprayah boat we had to leave our bags in the front of the cabin where a pile of luggages of the in coming customers was being built. This same pile of bags was later; during the crossing, used by some of the crew to sit or to lean on.
So luggage wasn‘t handled carefully here.
It was even worse for the suitcases that were kept outside the cabin under a tarpaulin not good enough to protect the luggages from the waves or the rain.
On arrival at Ko Tao, we had to return to the front of the cabin to take our luggage from the pile and then go in the back again to the rear exit.
This was very uncomfortable as everybody going to Ko Tao was doing the same and everybody bumped with his bag into other customers who were obstructing the aisle because they had to queue up to get their luggage.
The handling of luggage could certainly be organised in a responsable, intelligent and professional manner.
To make it worse, during the crossing the French man sitting in the row behind us decided to stretch his legs and lent his feet onto the side window in front of him, just 5 centimers far from my face and became aggressive when I asked him to be polite enough to remove his feet from my face.

The checkin process is simple and efficent. Boarding can take about 45 mins on a busy departure and being on early gives you a chance to pick your seat. Indoor seating is available for 100BHT per person if you fancy upgrading but also be aware that you could get moved to the indoor seated area if the boat is full and the aisles are blocked. travel was calm and being someone that suffers from travel sickenss i was worried, but i didnt need to be. even on the return journey that was rougher the boat was fast and smoothe with only minor undulation. All in, a good experiance and one i would do again. You do wonder how they control all the baggage to make sure who gets what is right but it does happen as you would want. Good job!!

Disorganised, overpriced and overbooked. The most shocking transport service. Paid 1600 for transfers from Koh Phangan to Krabi. At the pier was told to board a tiny boat that did not have a proper roof. The rain leaked the entire journey and at times I feared for my life.

I wouldn’t wish my worst enemy to experience these.

I’ve traveled on several boats and buses in SE Asia and this was a really pleasant surprise. We paid the small extra amount to have them pick us up at our hotel and it was very worth it. The boat only left Koh Samui 10-15 minutes late so we got in almost on time. It was kind of cramped and not enough seats inside but a super quick ride.

When we got to the mainland pier, the buses were extremely organized and it was well communicated where to go depending on your destination. We were headed to Krabi and the bus was relatively empty. Made it to the station on time and opted to pay to take one of their shuttles to the hotel as it was cheaper than a cab.

Overall it was one of the better travel experiences I’ve had in Thailand and would recommend it.
