You will experience the real heart of true elephant caretakers who do not view the elephants as a job but as part of the family. The elephants you will meet have been raised in our village and are accustomed to kind human interaction unlike wild elephants who must be strictly controlled.

Our group (2 families) enjoyed the overnight experience on the recommendation of a friend. We were so happy we did! It was incredible to "live" with the tribe and elephants for a day. You can tell that the elephants have a close bond with the trainers and Sun's family. The elephants were at ease; the kids were at ease. It's clear that they are well loved and cared for! We experienced a huge range of caring for the elephants, from feeding and bathing to making medicine and harvesting food. In addition, the Karen Tribe took us in and showed us every aspect of *their* life, which are a whole set of experiences that our kids treasure now and we never planned for. The food was beyond our expectations, both in quality and presentation, which was great especially because they had to accommodate my son's allergies. Overall, it was truly a unique, high quality experience which everyone in the group LOVED. I recommend them without reservation to anyone!

This was THE best experience of our entire Thailand trip. It was incredibly unique, and you couldn't get this experience anywhere else. If you're going to Chiang Mai, make sure you spend the day here. Everyone is super friendly, and you get a very personalized experience because you're taking care and learning about the unique elephants here. Extraordinarily ethical ESPECIALLY when compared to a lot of the other elephant tourism locations.

If you are trying to find the best and most ethical elephant sanctuary in possibly all of Thailand, look no further! What better way to support the community than by visiting an indigenous tribe who have been caring for these elephants for generations? This is the most authentic experience you can have with elephants- for the day, you become the caretakers of these majestic creatures and understand the lifestyle of the Karen people. This is the only elephant sanctuary that makes sure their elephants are not overworked- they have proper rest days and are truly just living their lives! It is such a beautiful and intimate experience- if you care about the ethical aspect of an elephant sanctuary, this is the place to go. The round trip transport is comfortable, and the provided lunch is made with so much love! I cannot recommend this experience enough. Thank you to Sun and the team for this unforgettable opportunity.

The Karen Tribe Native Elephants was the highlight of our tour in Thailand. The elephants are their family and they are treated with so much love and care. We learnt a lot about elephants, their care, food, exercise, vitamins and even got to chop off a banana tree! The whole village comes together to care for them. We each got an elephant and took care of them like how the Karen people do on a daily basis. My elephant was Marie and she’s such a sweetheart 🥰Lunch was a feast and delicious with local food and fruits. Will definitely come back again! Sun and his team are amazing! Their village is beautiful and serene. Highly recommend it to people who love elephants and want to learn about them in an ethical way!

We had an amazing day with the Karen Tribe Native Elephants family! From learning how to make elephant medicine to experiencing firsthand how they care for these majestic animals, every moment was unforgettable. The delicious lunch they provided was a bonus, and the elephant bath at the end was a perfect way to conclude our day. It was a genuine and educational experience, and we left with a newfound appreciation for elephant care and Karen culture. Highly recommend this authentic and heartwarming experience!

I truely recommend this experience over any other in Chiang Mai. Each individual person gets their own elephant to care for the day.
The most authentic, educational, humbled experience. The view on the way to the village was breathtaking.
Awaiting in the village were smiling faces and a spread of delicious lunch with stir-fried rice, pad thai, Thai dessert wrapped in banna leaves and exotic fruits. More than enough for a family of 4 (we were 3 people).
The trainers were amazing with us and our 3 year old. They were patient and gentle with us and the elephants 🐘. We can sense the care and love in everything they do for the wellbeing of the elephants. The tribe's people are the true care takers of these gentle giants going back 8 generations.
A must go!

This was everything I had hoped for and more! They pick you up for a 2 hr ride into the forests where the elephants live. The English-speaking staff caring for the elephants are very educated and work with the university to provide the best care for these majestic healthy animals. I fell even deeper in love! I would recommend Karen's Tribe to anyone

Dear Kendra Thank you for your visit and support for the Karen Tribe Native Elephant experience. These elephants used to work in elephant camp in Chiangmai. They had worked near by city for many years. We now return them back to the village where they were born. It is located in the village. We believe that healthy and happy elephants need to in a good environment. Thank you for sharing your experience across tripadvisor. Hope you enjoy the rest of your holiday. Best Regards Karen Tribe team

I went with my daughter and it was amazing. They take very good care of the elephants. Much much better then all thr big Elephant camps ( I have visited before) It is on a small scale. They have 6 elephants and a baby Elephant 2 people take care of 1 elephant that is it. You really got to know your elephant. Absolutely recommend to go to this place.

This was by far one of the best experiences of my life.
It was so lovely and heartwarming to see how well the elephants were looked after by Sun and the team.
They educated us about the elephants. We spent so much quality time with the elephants, fed them, bathed them and made vitamin for them. They did a huge food spread which was delicious and beautiful. They have a small group which makes the experience so special.
You will get the full experience and so much more. If you are in Thailand make a trip to Chiang Mai and definitely experience this. We did and would definitely do this again.

Fantastic Ross took us to Karen Tribe 🐘 area and we had close contact to the 🐘 because of Sun and his caretakers. All the explanations and hints were given in such a friendly way.

We felt for a short time part of the family, the clothes made the whole group becoming a team and the tasteful lunch was prepared in a lovely way.
