We took a songthaew for 100 baht out from the old town to visit the artists village on a Sunday morning. Pleasant experience wandering around the little artists’ units in the dappled sunshine.
Not much for us to buy to be honest but plenty of cute photo opportunities if that’s what you want and we had a nice coffee in one of the cafes. Various foods available too.

Because we have a friend who lives in Chiang Mai, we were able to experience this lovely, very interesting and lively art village. It feels like a private place given its location among trees, excellent natural landscaping, and small studios, tiny restaurants and vendors of various crafts.
There were no Western visitors when we went and that was at three different times and days. If fact, our very knowledgeable guide was unaware of Baan Kang Wat.

The variety is of places to see is dazzling and yet, as I stated, it feels intimately private in a way. I only wish we'd have had time to take advantage of the watercolor lesson that was offered at one of the many art shops.

I highly recommend spending some of your precious time here.

Small village build and decor with local materials that make the tourist WOW!!! but for Thai people can’t make them feel like that.

Good for the people who like to take a photo. Different decor zone like old home decor, coffee shop or agricultural area. Middle of the area have a big space that is a nice place to take a photo.

One of recommended place for tourism.

At first, l planned to go to kill time. But, it's better then I Thought. A small villa has coffee shops, craft workshops, and miniature kitchen garden. There are shady tree as a place to rest when you don't know where to go. Anyway, I spent hours there looking for people, relaxed, and played with the cat. I recommended the place for all ages.

Bann Kang Wat is fairly out of the way from Chiang Mai's main attractions so you would probably have to make a special trip just to get there. The place is simply a number of quirky shops selling handmade items such as clothing, jewelry, bags, accessories and other items. Each artisan or shop stands by itself and one can happily wander through the narrow, leafy pathways to discover pretty creations. As with all handmade items, the things are not cheap and we watched many people come and go empty handed. Many young people were just there to take very instagrammable photographs. I would say go only if you are into unique, quirky handmade items.

Everyone expects tigers, elephants, temples and markets in CM. This little "village" is very pretty with little shops and cafés in narrow little walkways. Some moaned about the food being expensive but it was less than half of what you would pay in Sydney and the cuisine was superb. The craft shops were beautiful and after writing this review will look to buy something.

I would rate this as a must visit if you have more then three days in CM

Interesting little compound with artists having their own little space. Cool set up with some nice style, but art was not that impressive to me. Some shops just had some kitschy things. The best was the jeweler with some nice brass and plated handmade things with cool style and nice lines. I wouldn't go out of your way to come here unless ur in the area. With that said, if your into spending some money to support local independent artists eventho u may not need/like their work, this would b a good place to support.

visited on a sunday, loved the market, the setting and the ambience. it is not a traditional thai tourist spot, more for the local hip and arty folks. has a few cafes and the market has food and drinks stalls too.

Fantastic creative space to spend a few hours relaxing. Very nicely done. Not very big but definitely worth taking the team to visit.

People can take pictures with lovely houses and art works which look great on instagram. Some spots require 10B to photograph.
There were studios/shops of clothes, bags, pottery, jewelry and drinks. It also offered a lot of workshops. Things sold there was not very impressive. Some shops at the Nimman road and some stalls at the Sunday walking street got equal or better products.
It was 10-minute car ride from Ninmman road. In conclusion, if you are not interested in taking Instagram pictures, stopping by is not recommended.
