182 reviews
See the gleaming golden spire and elaborate sculptures of Wat Phra That Doi Suthep in peace and quiet on this serene sunrise tour. Watch the light spill across northern Thailand from one of the region’s highest points, and witness a morning alms-giving ceremony that most visitors miss. Your guide is a former monk, so you'll get first-hand insight into temple life and the Buddhist faith. A delicious Thai breakfast is also included.

Wow, what a privilege this experience was. In the past, like many, I have fell into the tourist trap of elephant “sanctuaries” where the promise of happy well kept animals is the tag line - with the reality being somewhat different but this experience was on a whole new level. No rides, no chains, no cages and no shows makes this a truly intimate and unique experience. The Elephant Rescue Park is a lush and expansive landscape where the elephants get to enjoy freedom and above all else around the clock care, love and attention. It was truly amazing to be able to walk alongside and interact with these wonderful animals whilst they went about their everyday life. This beautiful habitat rescues elephants from various backgrounds including logging, riding and circus industries and gives them a place to live their life surrounded by everything they enjoy. The carers were amazing with a clear and special bond between them and the animal and it was a joy to watch the interaction. UK based volunteers Julie and Steve were very knowledgeable, super inviting and a pleasure to be in the company of. They looked after us during our time at the park and made us feel welcome at every opportunity - thank you! If you are looking for a truly special experience and have a love for elephants then this is the place for you, don’t even consider other attractions no matter how many bells and whistles they may offer. I will definitely be making another trip here given the opportunity, it was incredible. Thank you Elephant Rescue Park, Steve & Julie and everyone else for an unforgettable experience. 🙏🏻🙏🏻

Elephant Rescue Park is truly a paradise for elephants. They are being cared of in an excellent way. The elephants were so gentle, and we could feel that they were happy. They live in natural surroundings without being chained up. They get to eat good and healthy food, and walk in the mountains. We could interact with them in the most natural way. We wished we could stay there longer. I'm missing these happy and gentle elephants already. We will definitely be back here once we go to Chiang Mai again. I would recommend this place to everyone, to feel the true elephant experience.

We had a great time at the elephant rescue park.It was a pleasant and peaceful environment. It was informative and enjoyable. It was good to see the elephants so content and happy in their natural habitation .The volunteers ,Julie and Steve did an excellent job in leading our adventure and introducing us to the situation and goals of the park and the habits and needs of the elephants. It was an educational experience for us as well as refreshing and relaxing. It was especially rewarding to see how this park has sought to rescue and restore elephants that have not had a good past ,been mistreated or abused. We would recommend this park to those who have a passion for animals happy ,healthy and treated in the best way possible in their own environment ,to learn more about elephants and have a hands on experience with them.

We visited the Elephant Rescue Park for a half day tour with our 2 children (aged 3 and 5). We were warmly greeted at our hotel by the fantastic volunteers - Julie and Steve. We then travelled by minibus to the park. We sat with coffee for a short time while Steve and Julie taught us more about Elephants and they were great at involving and engaging our children. After changing into the clothes provided we fed 3 of the Elephants and then went on a short walk through the jungle. We had an opportunity to bath the Elephants with the support of their carers. We finished the tour with a lovely homemade meal before heading back to our hotel. There was also an option to pay a small fee for photos to be taken throughout the trip. I would highly recommend this tour if you want to support the park and learn more about Elephants.

My family and I spent half a day at Elephant Rescue Park. It was a very special and memorable experience for all of us. Our children (age 8 and 5 years old) loved every minute at the Park especially their walk with the elephants. We were very lucky to have a private tour with Khun Kid (the founder/owner) and his staff. We can feel a genuine passion and dedication of Khun Kid and his team. We felt a strong connection between the elephants and their care takers. The entire experience was very authentic, natural and very safe in the beautiful surrounding of the Park. If you are nature lovers and would like to discover the local wisdom, we would strongly encourage you to visit this place. It is also very family friendly. We have learned so much from Khun Kid’s unique perspective and deep insights are very valuable. We are very thankful for this amazing experience that he has shared with us and would definitely love to come back and visit again. We hope more and more Thai people will be able to come to visit this place and appreciate what a true gem we have had here in Chiangmai!

Thank you so much for your review. We are delighted you had a very special and memorable experience at Elephant Rescue Park and your children loved every minute - as you mention, we are very family friendly and it is a great experience for children of all ages. It was my pleasure to be your personal guide and look after you. As you witnessed our whole team is passionate and dedicated to rescuing elephants that need our help and to provide them with a natural, safe forever home in beautiful surroundings. A key part of what we do at Elephant Rescue Park, and which is truly loved by our team, is to educate our visitors and provide an insight into the plight of the Asian elephant. It is so satisfying when our visitors value this and leave the Park both happy and better informed. Thank you for your recommendation, we hope to see you again soon.
