A well organized tour that covered all activities mentioned in description. The mountain bikes had comfortable saddles, worked well and had appropriate gears for the uphills. We rode on road, off road to some red sand, off road through the jungle and some challenging up-hill inclines on road. There were 3 times when we were presented with choices of if we wanted to be more adventurous or if we needed a bike break and could catch a ride in the van. We loved putting our bikes onto the local boat ferry and traveling upriver about 20 minutes. There were snacks/drinks available just when we needed an extra boost of energy. We loved the 'smoky' coconut water at the finish of the bike ride. We appreciated that time was flexible and we never felt 'rushed', but rather got to rest, chat and pedal at our own pace. The sticky waterfalls were a great place to cool off and be playful. We ate at a local restaurant on the way back to the city (about 4 pm). A full day of adventure and pushing ourselves as well as enjoying the nature of Northern Thailand.

Thank you so much for your detailed and thoughtful review! We’re thrilled to hear that you enjoyed the tour and everything it had to offer, from the comfortable bikes to the variety of terrains and activities. It sounds like the balance of adventure and relaxation was just right for you, and we’re so glad you loved the boat ferry ride and the cooling coconut water at the end. It’s great to know that the flexibility and the ability to rest and enjoy the journey added to the experience. The sticky waterfalls are definitely a fun way to cool off, and we’re glad you had a blast there! Thanks for sharing your experience, and we hope to see you again for more adventures in Northern Thailand!

What a great team!
Our 6 day point to point mountain bike adventure was flawlessly planned, led, and organised by the exceptional Trailheads team. A huge thank you to Dan, Lek, Wi Wi, and Kom. And not to mention the ladies of the office and great Trailheads coffee shop.
The exceptional value of this adventure will be hard to match anywhere else; the riding routes were sublime; your professionalism coupled to that smiling friendliness, remarkable.

I did a 6 day mountain bike tour with Trailhead, and I'm absolutely thrilled with the experience. Lek, Kom, Dan, and Vivi took fantastic care of our group of six, providing delicious meals, local tips, and comfy accommodations. They are amazing people and I cannot praise them highly enough.

The route was an ideal mix of challenge and stunning views, making it truly unforgettable. Their attention to detail, like serving refreshing young coconuts after each ride, was superb. Do yourself a favour and book your adventure with them now!

I booked a private 3 day MTB training camp with Trailhead. Lek, who is an XC and Enduro pro rider, was pacing my up and down some awesome hills and single trails. Some of the best natural trails I have seen in Asia. All natural single trails and jeep tracks to mimic the trails that I need to ride in my next epic Race this summer. It was a truly thrilling experience. Everything you need on a XC mountainlike ride. I cannot recommend Trailhead and Lek more for their dedication to nature, sports and real off the beaten track experience. The professionalism and prompt communication puts you in full confidence. Thank you Dan (Owner of Trailhead) and Lek once again for the truly unforgettable experience you put together for me. Only regret is that I could not stay longer for more trails.

We choose the "Twilight Cycling" for our first visit in Chiang Mai. This is the best way to get to know Chiang Mai! So much fun and so many interesting details about the city, culture, people and typical food while cycling and walking around the best places of this old town. All family-members loved the tour with the two great gudies from Trailhead TK and Nee. Thank you very much for your great commitment to showing us your hometown and letting us taste the wonderful food at markets and in parts of the city which we would never have discovered on our own.

I did the 'numb' MTB tour with these guys. It's rated as double black and certainly lives up to that. Some sections of the trail were as steep, technical and awkward as anything I've seen in the Alps.

Format of the day is fairly straightforward - you're shuttled to the top of Doi Suthep, you ride all the way to the bottom, have lunch and then do it again. There's a posted itinerary, but as with any sensible guiding company they will adjust the route based on conditions and rider ability.

Had a great day on the bike, guided by Lek who was great fun.

Their office doubles as a café and shop and they do a very good cup of coffee as well.

Highly recommended for experienced riders looking to get their MTB fix in Thailand.

Thank you so much for your fantastic review! We’re thrilled to hear that you had an awesome time on the *Numb* MTB tour and that it lived up to its double-black rating! It’s definitely a challenging trail, and we’re glad it offered the steep, technical sections you were looking for, comparable to the Alps! Lek is indeed a fun and knowledgeable guide, so we’re happy you had a great time with him. We also appreciate your kind words about our café and shop – we're glad you enjoyed the coffee too! Thanks for recommending us to experienced riders looking for a thrilling MTB experience in Thailand. We hope to see you back again soon for another adventure!

Absolutely must do experience! We were in Thailand for 2 weeks and touring Doi Inthanon with THIS company (specifically Lak and TK as our guides) was hands down the day we were most happy with. The two of them created an environment that made us feel like we were hanging out with friends, and were amazingly knowledgeable about the area and people. Doi Inthanon itself was drop dead gorgeous, and our package included meals at tucked away local spots which had much better food than the big tourist traps. I would highly recommend this experience to everyone!

I've done other bike tours in Chiang Mai...but Trailhead is the best so far by a long shot. They pick you up from your hotel and provided me with a free ice latte to start the morning. They run small group of 5 people so it makes it easier for tour guide to keep track of everyone. Their bikes are top-notch and in mint working condition. Other tour companies I noticed their bikes are not well maintained and it breaks down every time during the tour.

The Trailhead tour guide took really good care of us...if someone is lagging behind..they would back to check on them. I did their newer tour, the Sticky Waterfall Explorer. It was pretty tough but a huge reward at the end with a beautiful waterfall and delicious lunch. I highly recommend Trailhead if you don't like chaos of other big tour groups. I'm already planning to book another tour with them...something more downhill and less climbing.

Thanks for taking the time to review us on Trip Advisor. We very much appreciate your feedback about Trailhead being the best biking tour in Chiang Mai. We try to go the extra mile to be the best and offer the best bikes in the region which make all the difference. As you mention the Sticky Waterfall Explorer is quite tough and a good physical challenge but the reward is the fantastic waterfall and lunch at the end which makes it worthwhile. Thanks again for joining and we look forward to seeing you again in the near future!

Trailhead tours are some of the best tours I’ve been on abroad. They’re very professional and well planned. I did two different tours with the company - NUMB and Sticky Waterfall Day tour. Both were the highlights of my time in Chiang Mai.

NUMB was as the title says, by the end of the the day you are so tired and pumped out from going downhill all day, which is exactly what you want! If steep runs, roots and rocks is what you love then I highly recommend. The trails were surprisingly challenging and I wouldn’t recommend this tour if you don’t have much experience mountain biking. I think even highly skilled riders will find these trails to offer something. The bikes provided were in good condition and one of the main benefits to doing this tour with trailhead. These trails would be extremely hard to ride if you were to do this on your own - sourcing a full suspension bike in Chiang Mai is very difficult and you need a shuttle to the top. The guides ride these trails so often, their knowledge and guidance is priceless.

The sticky waterfall tour was also an amazing experience. The riding is not technical but does require a good amount of physical fitness, there are some steeper climbs, but the truck will be behind you in case you feel you can’t do any part of the ride. The ride takes you through parts of the jungle that you would never see otherwise and there are many sights to see along the way - lakes, caves, rolling red dirt hills, teak forests. The route is perfectly planned and timed. A banana or sticky rice after a hard climb and ample amounts of water are provided. The sticky waterfall is also a not to be missed attraction and riding there is much more pleasure than riding there in a red truck (in my opinion).

10/10 tour experience with trailhead. If I had the time, I would do every tour they offer!

Thanks for taking the time to review us on Trip Advisor. We very much appreciate your detailed review of our Numb downhill MTB tour, as you mention the trails are certainly a challenge and require good experience to enjoy them at their fullest. We're proud to have won the coveted Gold award from the Tourism Authority of Thailand for our Sticky Waterfall Explorer tour and it's great to know how much you enjoyed the trip. Enjoy the rest of your time in Chiang Mai and hope to see you again in the future.

We were picked up from our hotel in Chiang Mai old town by our driver Chew. We soon learned that Chew would be joining us on the trip along with the delightful TK (our tour guide). A short trip to Trailhead shop in Chew’s lovely air conditioned SUB for a coffee and briefing, we found out we were the only 2 guests so had a ‘private tour’ (so pleased they didn’t cancel!). A 2 hour drive past Elephant Sancturies took us deep into the bush. The 5k hike was fairly energetic and needed some level of fitness, but we had plenty of water and frequent stops. TK had lots of energy drinks and sweets to help her along! Arriving at the Lahu Village we were delighted with our riverside homestead. It was rustic, but adequate toilet facilities and a decent shower (a tad cold!) with private bedroom. Bed was comfortable, warm and a very good mozzie net.
The pack lunch on the hike was delicious (including veggie option) which we actually ate on arrival at the village. We relaxed and swam in the river as the locals built us a bamboo raft. Lahu people were friendly and happy to sell us a few souvenirs. Lots of chickens, dogs with puppies and buffalo wandering around freely.
Supper in the evening was delicious and plentiful. We also bought a few cold Chang’s to wash down the spiciest of dishes! An early night was good as the local cockerels were a good alarm clock at 5am.
Breakfast was great after a coffee brewed on the fire. After donning a life jacket we were soon on our bamboo raft for the incredible 10k trip down river.Safe in the capable hands of our local ‘captain’ as we navigated some small rapids between stretches of tranquil waters.
More food in a local eatery, a coffee stop and a visit to a temple rounded off a great couple of days. Chew and TK were fantastic hosts and it was a lovely trip… thank you Trailhead you were brilliant.

Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We’re thrilled to hear that you had such an amazing experience on your trip with us. It sounds like you had an incredible adventure, from the beautiful Lahu village to the exciting bamboo raft trip. We’re especially glad that Chew and TK made the experience so special — they really know how to take care of our guests and make the journey enjoyable. We’re also happy to hear that you enjoyed the meals, the swim in the river, and all the little details that made your stay memorable. We hope the chilly shower wasn’t too much of a shock after such an action-packed day! Thank you for mentioning the local Lahu community as well; it’s always wonderful to support and interact with the people who make these places so unique. We really appreciate your kind words and are so glad you enjoyed the trip. We hope to see you again for another adventure soon!
