We did the evening foodie tour and met our tour guide outside of the Warorot Market where she showed us around and arranged for some tasty treats before going to the flower market. Afterwards she drove us to a neighborhood spot for some great dishes - lots of food to try, plus it was nice to see different areas from where we had been staying. After our dinner we went to the beautiful Wat Chedi Luang built in the 13th Century - lovely temple, especially at night. We then drove to another night market and had some more delicious hand-picked street food. Our guide was friendly, knowledgeable and gave helpful tips on other places to try near our hotel. Overall, great food your and way to see a different part of Chiang Mai!

My husband and I had a half day tour visiting various tourist spots and we had the best time with our guides. They were super nice and friendly and very accommodating with the activities we wanted to do and how we wanted it to fit into our schedule. I would definitely recommend going with them!

When I first heard about Chiang Mai Foodie Tours, I thought we were only going to eat. Instead, I was pleasantly surprised when we would go to historical temples around Chiang Mai in addition to eating some amazing food. We learned about the history of the food that we ate in the context of the city's history. Knowing a bit more about the culture and history somehow made the food more delicious. Going on this tour was like finding a hidden gem. You get so much more than what is described. Also, the spots that we went to were all spots the locals eat at with not many, if any, tourists. Our group was pretty much the only tourist group at the restaurant or market. Noot and her tour guides all speak excellent English and are always willing to share more about Thai culture and history as well as give any food recommendations. Another big plus is that we were driven to almost all of the locations. This was great since my friends and I were there at the beginning of the hot season and it was so nice to sit in a van with A/C instead of walking to all the food locations like some other tours. The whole tour lasted 4 hours and we left with full stomachs and learned some cool facts about Chiang Mai. If you're ever in Chiang Mai for short time and want to maximize your experience there I would highly recommend Chiang Mai Foodie Tours. The value that you get is well worth the price that you pay. They have tours in the morning and evening so you have options! I will 100% use this when I am back in Chiang Mai with friends or family.

This tour is a hidden gem of Chiang Mai! Full disclosure – I don’t particularly like going on museum/local site tours, but I found the inclusion of historical backgrounds and stories of the tour to be the surprisingly pleasant value that came along with the amazing food I was introduced to during the tour.

It was recommended to me by a local friend who has been living in Chiang Mai for a few years, and even he found the tour to be informative and refreshing of new aspects of the city that he had previously not known about. What differentiates this tour from other options is that it emphasizes the combination of food PLUS history – yes you’re getting great food as the locals would eat it, but it’s all within the context of the city’s history. Thai food is delicious by itself, but when the details of each dishes story accompany the food, it somehow becomes even more tasty and fulfilling.

The tour highlighted main Thai foods such as mango sticky rice, Thai iced tea, boiled & fried chicken over rice, and a few other local delicacies. For khao soi, we even went to the restaurant that invented the dish! As a foreigner who didn’t speak any Thai, I was grateful for the tour guides’ expertise in maneuvering the city streets and market alleys– I would not have been able (or would have known) to walk/travel to the places we went if I solely relied on Google Maps to get around by myself.
I especially appreciated the walking parts of the tour, since it allowed for natural breaks in eating and greater exposure to Chiang Mai. Our guides, Noot and Deng, were extremely knowledgeable, accommodating, and friendly to constantly ask us how we were doing throughout the entire tour. They were caring but not overbearing, and their English was excellent for storytelling as well as answering any questions the groups’ participants had.

I highly recommend touring with this group. The value is well worth the price, and as tourists it really does open up the city in a way that reflects the authentic local experience.

We went on the evening version of this tour, which runs from 4pm to 8pm starting at Yarowot Market. Pondtip had already purchased and held onto a desert that sells out earlier in the day, which she offered us, followed by two fresh deserts and a Thai Tea. These deserts were not something I would have tried on my own. This was followed by a trip to a restaurant, where we had the best pork leg I've ever had (khao ka moo) accompanied by butterfly pea tea (a local specialty), laarb, sticky rice, and mango salad, all of which were excellent. We weren't even able to finish all three dishes, so we were worried about the rest of the tour, but fortunately our next stop was a temple where Pondtip shared some local history with us as we walked off our meal.
Finally, we went to a different night market where we had more delicious street food including pork & rice and more deserts.

We were immensely satisfied with this tour - there's no way we would have found this market on our own - it definitely caters to locals. Tripadvisor and Google are bloated with so many restaurants of middling quality that it is nice to find advice from a local. The food was absolutely delicious, and we just went back to the same market for dinner tonight.

In terms of price - $30 per person is certainly more than the food costed, but still cheaper than eating in the states. If you are trying to save every Baht you can, or you prefer to do extensive research on an area and be your own tour guide, this is obviously not for you. But if you don't mind spending as much as an average meal back home and want to try everything Chaing Mai has to offer, definitely book this tour!

My guide PT was fantastic. We toured the Warorot market and tasted so many fantastic foods and then went to an authentic Northern Thai restaurant. Her guiding was insightful and chocked full of history and understanding of Chiang Mai area. Definitely worth the expenditure. The most bang for your buck.

I do not have much to add to the positive comments made elsewhere. A well organised operation gave us an excellent food tour - walk round local market discussing local foodstuff (yawwwn, but my wife loved it), tasted Northern (spicy) and Eastern sausages, and local fruits: three dishes in a local restaurant: two fantastic dishes in a street market: two desserts in a nearby market - with a charming, knowledgeable guide who spoke perfect English. Reasonable price. Loved it.

We joined a Chiang Mai Foodie Tour on our last day in the city, and we had a fantastic time! Our guides Pondtip and Daeng were amazing; they were funny, knowledgeable, and eager to share their food and culture with us. My family thoroughly enjoyed not only trying the food, but learning about some of the history and meaning behind it. They also shared a lot with us about Thai culture and history as we walked through some temples. Even though we had already spent 4 days in Chiang Mai before doing this tour, many of the food stops we made were new to us; a tour like this is truly a great way to eat like locals do. Our only regret was not doing this tour sooner in our trip! Would highly recommend as a first stop for anyone arriving in Chiang Mai!

Delicious and fascinating! This tour was highly recommended by our friend who has lived in Chiang Mai for 12 years. We would highly recommend doing this tour near the beginning of your visit to help you become oriented.

Daeng was our very friendly and knowledgable tour guide. She speaks very good English and is an excellent driver. Daeng started by driving us around the old town, pointing out important landmarks and describing the origins and some of the history of this 721 year old city. Our 4-hour morning tour included stops at the Three Kings monument, two Wats (temples), a fruit market, another large general market, a cultural museum and assorted small restaurants and market stands all around the city. The emphasis is on learning and eating like the locals eat (which pleased us). We sampled 13 different delicious entrees/desserts/beverages, and your guide can customize the choices based on your preferences, food allergies, level of spiciness desired, etc. Pace yourself eating, it is a lot of food, and we ended up taking a couple leftovers home with us because we were so full at the last two stops. Throughout the tour, Daeng explained many aspects of Thai culture, and was so patient answering our many questions.

Everything above is included in the tour's cost. There is also a little time for shopping at the markets if you wish to purchase something extra. We really felt we got our money's worth.
