My Japanese friend and I took a private cooking class. It was just like I wanted. Hands-on, authentic ways of cooking, and tasty! Mr. Arm is professionally trained cook and his recipe has nice details and not simplified. All the dishes are so delicious. Mr. Arm is very kind and patient. I loved every minute of his class! If I go back to Chiang Mai, I will take another course with him and expand my Thai cooking repertoire!

If you are looking to have an intimate, cosy cooking experience that allows you to cook healthy delicious thai food, chat with a local to under the city and country more, you find the right place. Arm accommodate to our requests (of switching the menu a bit to dishes we like to cook n allowing to ask this and that throughout the market), our pace in cooking food. There were so much laughters and discussions. Arm is the real charm, a very patient, nice and humorous guy and show us how nice Thai people are. Really highly recommend to go with this private cooking class!!! My apology for not writing this review earlier!

Was a small group so we had individual attention too. We met up and went down to the market to source all our fresh ingredients and came back to cook our 4 chosen dishes! What a delight and so organised and relaxed. Thank you for the pleasure of learning the Thai style of cooking.

My partner and I highly recommend Arm's private cooking class. We looked into a few different options but settled on this class as we wanted to be a bit more adventurous than we figured a standard group class would allow. Arm picked us up from our accommodation and took us to his local market that he buys his food from, next he drove us to his own home where we spent the entire day cooking in his backyard and kitchen. We made four dishes in total (all of our own choosing) and we all sat down together after each one to try our dishes and chat. The day was lovely and relaxed but also fun and we learnt a lot. Even if you think you already know a lot about cooking and Thai food, you'll learn some new tricks, techniques and flavours.

We spent hours online researching different cooking class options and were finally lucky enough to stumble onto Arm's classes! It didn't show up very well on tripadvisor because it was technically listed outside of Chiang Mai (his other reviews are under Small House). However rest assured that the logistics are completely painless. Arm is very responsive to emails and is also the nicest guy. He came and picked us up from our hotel (we stayed at the Anantara) and took us to the market. In reading a lot of reviews for other cooking schools it seems they might take you to markets populated by tourists -- this market had literally no tourists other than us! We wanted to avoid large scale cooking classes where the attention of the instructor would be more impersonal and where someone in the class might be a distraction. We booked a private class for just the two of us and cooked four dishes -- khao soi, pad thai, coconut chicken soup and the Chiang Mai sausage. They were all excellent and Arm was really patient and helpful in explaining every step of the way. The food we cooked was delicious and it really made us appreciate our trip more -- we were studying how the technique of the people cooking at the street market later that night differed :) Would definitely recommend this to anyone!
