The communication from the company was great on enquiry and prior to the trip.
We were picked up from our reception - no friendly welcome just hello and get in the bus. Not given any info about journey length/ other pick ups etc which other companies had given on previous trips
Arrived at the base around 11.20. Again, no info given about what would happen etc. we were left hanging around feeling slightly clueless when lunch appeared after about 20 mins. Was very early to eat!
After lunch, again no info about what would happen/when Eventually a private tour guide from another group asked what was happening and then things seemed to get going.
Taken down to river where we had full safety briefing. Rafting was great fun, we felt very safe at all times
Unfortunately the camera had been forgotten so someone took photos on phone and sent them on to us free of charge.
Overall the rafting experience was excellent and the rafting guides were fun and made us feel very safe. However, the experience on the ground before and after was really lacking and at odds with the experience of booking etc.
Would recommend but think some work is needed to improve the overall experience

2020 is a tough one for all, but I already know this will have been the best experience of the year .
I'd been with several other companies in Chiang Mai offering similar activities but my experience with Siam River Adventures was the best among them and by far the best value for money.
The trip organisation, hospitality, accommodation and food was superb and much better than expected.
I see a review mentioning that they really care about the customers having the best time possible...and this is absolutely true.
Nop (sorry if I spell your name wrong) and Max were our instructors and first day on the river they train you (and gauge your level). Both guys are some of the nicest and most patient you're likely to meet. The training is tough but worth it and ultimately rewarding when you hit the rapids.
The stretch of river was fantastic - some sections were too much for me and I was grateful to have rode them on the raft with the skillful navigator, Mr Ping Pong (amazing guy, hilarious), but the sections we did kayak were thrilling. In the quiet sections the scenery is stunning...deep thick green jungle vegetation against a mountain backdrop. Birds and even elephants just randomly grazing along the banks. The guys made sure we were safe every step of the way, their skills on the river are jaw dropping.
In the evening, Nop, our guide, went above and beyond taking us to experience local life in the mountain, enjoy some Karen rice whisky and share a joke or two. With flickering candles melted into the table, the darkness and soundtrack of the jungle behind, the memory is indelible. I'll be forever grateful to Nop for taking such good care of us in downtime and on the river, a kind hearted gent and a true friend. I really do hope to be back very soon to share a drink with you pal.
I did a two day white water river course/run on the Mae Taeng river, I think you'll find the price for that is hard to beat. Overall, 10 out of 10 and highly recommended.

Amazing 1 day Elephant care + Rafting experience !
Elephant care : an ethic way to see elephants that are healthy, unchained, and have never been ridden. It starts by giving them breakfast, and after a quick walk (at elephant speed), it’s bath time : splashing them in the river, and they seem to really enjoy it.
Rafting : a very professional approach of rafting. Very clear instructions before we start, experienced crew, with extra people along the ride with safety lines. Such an amazing and adrenaline experience : a 10K run, with 6 or 7 rapids. The perfect dose of fear but always feeling safe. The crew is joking et pranking each other when it gets slower.
I recommend Siam River Adventure +++

Siam River Adventures offered us an amazing white water kayaking trip.
Our guide Tom was excellent in guiding on the river and teaching us some extra skills to get along easier. The whole team was working perfectly and made us feel very comfortable and safe. There were two extra people just for safety reasons on the land as well as a safety raft and the chief taking fotos. So many nice people and everybody just for us to make it a great experience.
For the hard middle section of the Mae Taeng my wife could switch from the kayak in the raft, which made it easier for her and challenging for me ;)
We both really enjoyed the whole trip and we both could push our limits!
Great experience, definitely recommendable.

We did 4 days of kayaking and spent the nights at the jungle camp. I highly recommend staying in their rooms directly on the river! The place is serene, but not suitable for people, who are afraid of dogs. We had a fantastic experience! The kayak/raft guides are fun and set great safety on the river. Water levels were low (January is dry season) and there are lots of rocks and the paddling is a bit more technical/creeky. I felt safe and well taken care of. My boyfriend did not feel comfortable in a kayak for the middle section (class 3+/4) and instead used the inflatable kayak, which was also super fun. Lunches and dinners were delicious home-cookes Thai food especially prepared for us. The transport to and fro the camp was also super smooth. We definitely want to go back at higher water levels. If you are a kayaker, you might want to bring your own spraydeck. We also did a waterfall hike with a lovely guide and had the best day in the forest. We also did a waterfall hike with a lovely guide and had the best day in the forest.

Great white water rafting and guides. Unfortunately we found one of the staff rude at the end of the day. We thought we were paying for the tour by PayPal (they make you pay the deposit this way) and hadn’t brought cash to pay for the whole experience. We were also charged considerably more (2x times) than others on the trip, which leaves a sour taste and is a shame as the day was otherwise good :). I wouldn’t use these people again.

Went white water rafting with my family in August 22 when the river was fairly high, mainly a grade 4. Given a safety talk on the bank then practiced the drills on the water before hitting the rapids so felt in safe hands. Accompanied by 2 safety kayaks. Our guides were very skilled and enthusiastic. Got off the raft and floated downstream alongside it in the quieter parts. Rafted past bathing elephants - fantastic. Followed by a photographer. Pictures are amazing.
An amazing experience. Very well organised. Great fun. We laughed all the way.
Hotel pick-up from Chiang Mai and a very tasty plentiful lunch and refreshments included. Couldn’t have asked for more.

Siam river Adventures was a fantastic experience. There were three of us which included our 14 year old daughter. The two guides, Nop and Ping Pong, both have 20 years of experience, speak great English and started the tour with a safety briefing to make sure we all got the most out of the tour. Everyone involved with the tour made sure that we had a good time which included lunch, plenty of pictures along the river of us having fun for our memories and a snack at the end.
We would definitely take this tour again. Thanks to you all for a fantastic time.

Such an incredibly fun day!!! The lunch was amazing to start, and then the guides and the rafting were just incredible. You felt in safe hands even in the more treacherous sections, and I couldn’t believe how incredible it was just floating down the river on the calm sections. We even floated past two elephants bathing in the river!! Unbelievable, would highly recommend.

Went in January, and despite not being in the raining season, it was still a fun and challenging experience. Had small inflatable raft boats per 2 + guide. Saw elefants on the way. Food included. Affordable price the total package. Would recommend to anyone

Hi,
Me and my other half are visiting early September. I have been rafting with this company in the past with my family and would love to take my other half. However I'm unsure of the river conditions in September and wondered the likelihood of us being able to do it.
Thank You!

Hello,
It says on the website that rafting is from late May. We will be in Chiang Mai from May 10-13, will we be able to do some rafting??
Thank you!

I'm sure there will be rafting at anytime in Chiang Mai, it's just how strong the river flow will be. I noticed you are only there for a few days. The rafting trip we took was a full day commitment, but worth it, because we got to see some wilderness and greenery. I would recommend the company we went with. (Chiang Mai wasn't quite what I pictured in my head - so it helped to get out to the countryside for an opportunity to appreciate Thailand's beauty)

Hello,
What is the water lever like in late October? Do we expect the boat to tip over often? Will there be rapids above grade 3?
Thanks

I did the trip in July with reasonable water levels and mild water temperature . Slightly low until the rainy season resumes about October onwards. Boats can tip, we had 4 people on our boats and didn’t tip. No rapids above grade 3 unfortunately . If you ever want some really good grade 4&5 rapids definitely do rafting on the Nile in Uganda at Jinja or Zambesi from Zambian side of Vic falls

lonely planet advises that the CM national parks are closed till sept-oct. The recent reviews showed river rafting is still open in july so the weather is still gd to raft in july?
