About
A family-run home cooking class established in 2001. We began with a small class size. Even though our business has seen tremendous growth, we have decided that this size maintains the personalization and individual attention that each student deserves. Yui (Siripen Sriyabhaya), Thailand's international TV chef still teaches every dish in every class to guarantee the highest quality of instruction. Her expertise attracts a variety of students such as, TV chefs, executive chefs, culinary school teachers, international Thai cooking instructors, food columnists, cookbook authors, tourists, and food lovers.Yui's unique blend of art and science truly make cooking exciting, fun, and easy to follow. When students cook these delicious dishes in class, they are equipped with the skills and knowledge to be able to recreate these dishes at home.

- adh106London, United Kingdom6 contributionsA fantastic experience, with an amazing chef!We couldn’t have asked for more, from this experience. Yui is not only a brilliant chef, but she’s also a world class host. Her teachings and demonstrations were infused with bits of history, culture, humour, and her own life experiences. The whole day felt very personal, and intimate. This is clearly much more than a business for Yui - it’s a passion, and it shows.Visited October 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten November 4, 2023
- Zoe F5 contributionsBest cooking class in Chiang Mai (maybe the world)Yui is amazing - take this class! Help her implement her plan of Thai food world domination. After a pick up from our hotel in her VW camper we started with a tour around a local food market where Yui taught us about local ingredients and their uses. We then went to the kitchen where we learnt to cook 4 dishes under her patient and expert guidance. After each dish we ate them, my Pad Thai was amazing - thanks to Yui. We were in a group of only 4, I think the maximum is 6, which means you get lots of 1:1 attention and support. The whole day was very well organised, with all the ingredients and equipment prepared for you in advance or whilst you eat. No need to do your own washing up! Yui was inspirational! She is knowledgeable, kind, enthusiastic and interesting. If you are thinking about taking a Thai cooking class in Chiang Mai take this one, it's well worth it and you won't be disappointed. Thank Yui!Visited December 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten January 7, 2024

She patiently answered all our questions, provided explanations on the options and choices she made. She made the class interesting and despite not cooking for over 20 years, my wife thought my Pad Thai was quite good 😂 She was also a veritable source of information on ingredients, techniques, Chiang Mai and Thai culture.Visited January 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten January 18, 2024

Of all the amazing things Thailand has to offer, my husband and I could not have guessed that a cooking class would be our favorite part of our 13 day trip. Yui is a true chef and scientist, and her teaching is a gift. The pad Thai we made was only second to her own pad Thai in our journey throughout Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and Phuket. We are by no means experienced cooks, but she has a way of teaching that is easy to understand and sticks! We bought a wok as soon as we got home and made pad Thai for our friend, who wanted seconds and to learn herself. Thank you, Yui, for sharing your expertise! To any future travelers who take the class, come hungry!

We attended the cooking class today with our three boys, ages 20,19 and 14. We were picked up by Yui’s husband at our hotel and dropped off there at the end also. Yui’s infectious personality adds to the experience. She taught us new techniques and we can’t wait to use what we learned back home in NY!

I think it’s my 3rd or possibly 4th time here over the last 15 years. There are many cooking classes in Chiang Mai, so why come back to this one? The food is fabulous, the setting lovely, quality of ingredients and care for every single details is top notch. But what makes this stand apart from any others is Yui who runs it with her husband Kwan.
There is no better place to learn how to make with ease some iconic Thai dishes. But this is the ONLY place where you also get invaluable understanding of the chemistry and physics of cooking, philosophy of life, and dozens of cooking tips which carry over beyond Thai cuisine. All this while having fun.

If you're looking for a unique cooking class experience in Chiang Mai, don't even think twice: Go straight to Yui, Kwan and Sid's home! Actually, they will come pick you up in their cute VW. I think the food I learned to cook from Yui was one of the best Thai food I had during my trip. Her thorough tour of the Chiang Mai market was also very informative and educational. I can't wait to try the recipes at home! Yui is a great teacher. And you definitely feel the love of their family during the class in their lovely home. You can find out more about their classes at [-----------]! I did the half day course, learned how to make pad thai, tom yam gung, and green curry with chicken. Yummy! If we had time, we would have gone back for a full day course.

Me & hubby enrolled for a class with Yui on 23.1.2007. (We had earlier booked the class by email). We were picked up from the hotel with their cute VW. Yui was great and went to great length to explain the ingredients used in the menu. I especially love the trip to the Nong Hoi market.Highly recomended if you want to be in a small private class with lots of attention from the teacher!

Sorry for leaving a review so late, Yui! Better late than never though :)
I was in Chiang Mai in June and was told by everyone that I needed to take a cooking course. Obviously, being a lover of Thai food, I jumped on it! I was traveling solo so I was able to reserve a spot the night before (thanks!) and was so happy I did.
Yui made the whole experience worthwhile. She truly was a joy to be around and was an excellent instructor and such a delightful human being! She actually picks up the individuals in the class herself, as well as her husband, and that set the tone for the day to come. We chatted about everything from food to friends and life in general - what a pleasure it was. She even informed me of all the opportunities she's been grateful enough to receive as a chef, but being the humble person she is, was happy with her life and work in Thailand. It certainly was great to make a connection as a friend, not just as her student.
The course was great as well, very informative and easy to follow. The class was held at her home which was unique in itself. A true Thai experience if you ask me. The food was soooo good, and I love that we each got to make our own dishes and enjoy them immediately after. She also makes sure that any food allergies or preferences are taken care of from the start. I.e. I don't eat shellfish or seafood, so I was able to substitute chicken. We even visited the local market to learn about the local foods and explore what they had to offer. Pretty neat.
The rest of the class was also great, we all got along just fine and enjoyed several laughs together. I would without a doubt return for another course when in Thailand again. Thanks, Yui, for a truly wonderful experience. Keep on doing your thing, you're such a great chef!

I have been trying to get in touch with Yui via the email listed on the school's website. I have sent 3 emails but have not yet heard back (checked Spam, too)-has anyone else had trouble getting ahold of them to make a reservation? Any tips?
Written August 29, 2016
TA won't let me post the email address I used but I imagine it's the same one that's on the website. I wonder if Yui's out of town or something. It's worth being persistent if you have the time. It's a fabulous class!

We are looking at traveling here in Dec. We will have our 4 children ages 7, 7, 9 & 12. Do you think the 1/2 class would be ok for them?
Thank you!

Yui is very accommodating to different needs. As the others have said I would email and ask for for specifics such as having most of the ingredients precut if you want for the younger ones (most of the ingredients are already, not much cutting neccessary). I think the half day would be a good length to keep the kids attention. You watch Yui demonstrate the dish then go to your station where everything is waiting and prepare yourself with her watching over. Then everyone goes to the table to eat. And repeat for each meal. So you do get breaks from the actual cooking. If it helps the kids focus you could have them write down the steps in notebooks while she is demonstrating. I forgot most steps as soon as it was my turn to cook and wish I had written notes like some people in my class. Tons of fun!

I visited their website and make a reservation on-line.
One day after, I got an email mentioning deposit is necessary (1000/person) in order to hold a space.
I’d like to know if anyone experienced this?
Since international transaction fee involved, I just would like to handle this carefully.
Thank you in advance for sharing your experience.
Cheers,
Lyra

Hello,
We would love to take a half day course. we are two adults and 3 cooking-loving teens.
Is it suitable for young ones?
our first Language is not English, though i speak it fluently. Will it be ok if I translate your English to them simultaniously?

Yui was excellent with our 11 year old child, who had limited cooking skills and experience. I don't think language will be an issue as long as you can translate the basic requirements, as Yui gives a practical demonstration on how to cook each dish. I do think the half day option is a good choice for your situation, as the full day may be a little long from our experience.

I have heard a deposit needs to be made to confirm the reservation. Do you accept paypal? If so, do you pay the fees associated with a paypal transaction?
Written July 1, 2015
As David said, the Paypal fees are on the seller, not the buyer.

hi I am booked at the Baan Ngern Village hotel in Chiang Mai. Are you close to the hotel? How much does it cost for a 1 day cooking school? You have some good reviews on line. Thanks

Andrew. Thank you for reading my review. The cost was 1200baht which included transport to and from hotel.
I advise getting in direct contact as English is excellent and you can get any specific questions answered.
Thanks
