who knew this little gem of paradise, orchids, and butterflies were there. We were transported there by the most amazing local named Nui (+66918595554) who know the area like the back of his hand. We could not get enough, the flowers, the sent of the flower. The butterflies were just magnificent. How beautifully the garden was laid out. I honestly was not really keen on going but once you get there and see the beauty you will want to go back. They also have a little tea garden where you can get snacks and something to drink. Very much recommended.

Lots of beautiful flowers here, and if you are a fan of orchids or just pretty things, you can buy the jewelry here made from real flowers and leaves, they are pretty. Remember to bring your camera to capture the flowers and butterflies flying around.

I did capture beautiful pictures of butterflies here, do visit http://hanmadewithlove.blogspot.com/2014/09/chiang-mai-land-of-smile-day-2.html

Its Ok to take 2 or 3 pictures and thats it, in my opinion, if you are not a great fan of flowers. I went here as part of a tour, part I would had miss gladly, taking to account the hundreds of amazing things that you can do in Chiang Mai

Before leaving we had some time left and the Mae Sa Orchid Farm is easy to reach. If you like orchids this is a place to go... I have never seen so many different orchids, I didn´t even know that there exist so many different types of... the butterfly house was disappointing though, there was only one butterfly... there were only about ten tourists in there, entrance was ok (100 Baht per person).
And what a surprise to see some oldtimers around the corner!

There is a lot of beautyfull and colorful orchids to see. Some of them even has a fragrange. You can buy jewelry made from the flowers. There also is a cave with butterflies. Not many - or they were hiding that day. If you are only going to see the orchid farm, I find that it is a long way from Chiang Mai. Almost 50 km., so it is a goog idea, to go visit other atractions nearby. E.g. the Mae Sae Elephant Camp.

This orchid farm, really small, has some beautiful and colorful orchids, but the place is very small, The butterflies aviary is ridiculous and has no interest. Of course, there is a (large) restaurant, with no customers, and a shop, with quite no customers too...
If you have a very short time, you can visit this farm on the way of Maesa Elephant Camp.
Otherwise there is an other, great, location : the Queen Sirikit Botanical Garden.

Went here as part of another tour on the way back to hotel. Didnt really see the point of it. From what I could see it was just an orchid garden centre, you see stalls at the side of the roads in Chiang Mai selling similar stuff. The only consolation is that it is not very expensive to visit and if you are in the Mae Sa area visiting the tiger kingdom or crocodiles or something you can go to have a look while you are in the area.
Would I go again, no, did I feel ripped off no, would I make a special trip, no.

This was on the way back from the tigers and thought we would go in to have a look.
It's an orchid farm and that's all there is to it. Do you need to go? Probably not.
