    Buddhism lesson and meditation practice
The teacher speaks really good English and has a lot of knowledge. He's funny and delivers his knowledge in an easy way. It was a fun way to relax and slow down from a fast paced life. Highly recommend!!!

Definitely worth going if you want to learn more about Buddhism and meditation
Attending the 1-day meditation retreat was one of the best things I experienced in Chiang Mai. If you’re open to new ideas and learning new skills, I highly recommend to pay a visit. KK did a fantastic job at explaining the basics of Buddhism as well as meditation specifically. The meditation sessions themselves were good fun. Last but not least, talking to different monk students provided great insight into what their life looks like.

    Highly recommended!
I couldn’t recommend this experience enough to anyone who visits chiang Mai. The opportunity to learn about the basics of Buddhism and meditation from a monk is truly priceless. If you’re looking forward to a different experience, you have to visit Monkchat.

    life changing experience
Great find, meaningful and unqiue experience to learn about culture! Pra K.K.managed to explain a philosophy in a very interesting way , much simplier to understand through his introduction. loved the meditation exercise s which I had chance to practise twice during my one day course. Many atttendees are begginers, it would be good to shorten the waiting time (2 pretty long breaks plus 1.5 hours self arranged lunch), but use it for more an interactive session asking people how do we feel before or after meditation, any problem we face when doing so, that would be highly appreciated!

Phra KK is an animated and intelligent man! His english is fluent, as well Italian and Spanish that he incorporated for certain guests as our group was incredibly diverse! He went over Buddhist philosophy and principles as well as mindful and concentrated mediation techniques. The perfect way to spend a day and crash course these concepts as a beginner!

Monk Chat on Fridays is by far the best thing you can do while visiting northern Thailand.
🎬 Spending a Friday at the Monk Chat in Chiang Mai is the quickest, most fun and intensive way to learn about Buddhism and meditation. This is by far the best thing you can do while visiting northern Thailand. These are small teachings given by a brilliant monk who speaks good English. 🎬 Go on a Fridays if you can, as Phra KK, the founder, runs the introduction to Buddhism (+ free meditations) on Fridays from 9am to 4pm. Best to book online in advance at the Monk Chat Chiang Mai website.

    Monk Chat Meditation
Monk Chat, go to meditate for one full day and walk carefully with a monk. Buy things to present him with the necessities of daily life. It was great. Congratulations to this beautiful temple. Is amazing...

A brilliant day learning out Buddhism & meditation
This was a brilliant day and I learned so much. The monk leading the one day meditation course was excellent. Do not miss this course if you are in Chiang Mai. I’ve been on a number of meditation courses, but this was one of the most enjoyable and interesting.

    Fascinating
This is such an amazing and unique experience, I learned so much about meditation and Buddhism, and also learned about Thai culture and life in Thailand. It didn't feel preachy, and although a half day sounds like a long time, I never felt bored. Plus, it's free, though you should make a donation. Do book online, the course I did seemed to be full

This was a wonderful way to spend a day in Chiang Mai. It shows that travelling does not have to be just about seeing sights and eating different food. The monk who leads the one day meditation retreat, Phra KK, took us through a very clear introduction to Buddhism, including what it is and what it’s not, and the core teachings of the Buddha. We then practised formal sitting meditation for about 30 minutes and had a break for lunch. After lunch we were given a tour of the monastery, and then practised walking and standing meditation, along with some other hand movement meditations to do sitting on a chair. We finished with a discussion and Q and A session. Phra KK can speak multiple languages, and is passionate about helping people reduce the suffering in their lives through morality, meditation and wisdom. He told us a little about the tremendous suffering he himself experienced in his early years, but instead of being crushed by it, it has refined him into a diamond who lives to help others. Phra KK alone is worth going for, never mind all the excellent practical tips on meditation we all came away with. An absolutely worthwhile day if you have the time in Chiang Mai.

I did the one day monk chat with Phra KK and could not have been happier with my decision. I arrived late due to some issues with extending my visa that morning and he was perfectly understanding and accommodating. He provided a detailed history and background on Buddhism followed by a very open-ended non judge mental question and answer session on Buddhism. He showed us around the beautiful royal temple, taught us how to show our respect to the buddha while in the temple, and we then spent the afternoon practicing 5 types of meditation followed by a final Q&A session. The day flew by. KK is unbelievably kind, very well-informed, animated, funny, and competent in a handful of languages. He puts these sessions on for free, paying for taxis from his temple far out of town and covering visitors lunches on site while only asking for donations in return including to the orphanage he supports. I had visited so many temples before during my time in Thailand and felt awkward not understanding the customs or what I was looking at. I now feel like a more informed and slightly more enlightened traveler.

We didn't know what more to do in Chiang Mai and found out about this option. The monk is really nice and smart and teaches you basics about buddhism and the importance of meditation. We did it on Friday, January 3 and it was a great start of the new year. The course itself was free, but we all donated to the orphanage the temple works with. I myslef have anxiety and he talked about it so I'll try meditating every day. That's my new years resolution haha. Definitely a great experience.

Meeting and listening to Phra KK was the absolute highlight of my weeks-stay in Chiang Mai. Happily wearing mask, along with the best eyes’ smile, I spent hours listening to his deep wisdom and endless kindness.
After ‘flirting’ with Buddhism-inspired Thai spirituality for decades, I finally was given the keys to start the “Middle Path”.

Phra KK is the kindest man, an excellent communicator, speaking impeccable English, understanding our “Western” limitations and standards, allowing us to make the jump into their millennium-long philosophy & practices easier.
I couldn’t have wished for a better introduction.
Best time spent in Chiang Mai was without the shadow of a doubt with Phra KK.
I am so happy, and really hope to be back soon if I am welcome 🙏

Many many thanks Phra KK!

Phra KK was a great teacher, very engaging and funny. We did a 1 day meditation retreat and he taught us so much about Buddhism and how to practice meditation. His English was impeccable and he also spoke other languages. We’ve come away from the experience feeling like we have a much better understanding and appreciation of their way of life. There was a mix of ages and cultures in the group which was lovely. Would definitely recommend this to anyone visiting Chiang Mai. Really easy to sign up on the website and the 1 day retreats are on Fridays.

Absolutely amazing experience especialy (but not only) for buddhism novices. We spent all day with Phra KK and his 1-Day meditation retreat and it was one of the best experiences in Chiang Mai.

We have tried 3 types of meditation, got amazing commented temple tour and had a beautiful introduction of Thai culture.

Recommending 1 - day, not only half day.

Totally free, optional donations.

Must TO-DO.

Spending a day learning about meditation and Buddhism with Phra KK is an eye-opening experience. Meeting him alone is truly inspirational. I honestly would attend his class every time I visit Chiang Mai if I had the chance.
