We went to the Thaphae boxing stadium on a Saturday in mid 2024, every fight was exciting and the view from most seats was really good. Each fight was great with both opponents going at it, there seemed to be only one dodgy fight, which was the first one of the evening, but even they were pummelling each other for the first two rounds. Halfway through there was some entertainment with four people blindfolded in the ring fighting, this was more of a show, with the participants flinging themselves around. Not up my street but some of the crowd seemed to enjoy it. Overall the night was better than what a lot of other reviews indicate, however this may be because we went on a Saturday night so the quality was improved compared to weekday cards.

I’m not a fan of boxing as I don’t enjoy watching people being beaten to a pulp, but I desperately wanted to watch a Muay Thai match for the experience. I was in the standard seating area and it’s hot, basically whatever the weather was outside. Staff are on hand to show you to your seat and they give you a sheet of paper with the match-ups.
Overall, I enjoyed Muay Thai much more than I thought I would. Virtually all the knock-outs were from kicks to the leg area and the opponent couldn’t take anymore. The only thing I did not like was the first, which looked like a couple of kids and even worse the loser was badly hurt.

We went out to see Muay Thai on a Saturday night, figuring it'd be better than a Tuesday. Although, in retrospect, probably every day is a good day for Muay Thai.
We did hear that the "local" stadium is more authentic, but thought "screw it, this one is right in the old town and it's fun to party with tourists anyways". We were right.
The box office is right near the Thapae Gate, so we took a songtaew to the gate and walked from there. We bough our tickets at the office, and were shown a sheet with the min price 500 baht. Had we bought online we could have gotten our tickets for 400 baht, but what the heck it was too late for that.
The fights "start" at 9pm, but they really start a little later so you can arrive right at 9 and you won't miss anything. When you arrive, you'll be seated so you don't have to worry about it being a free-for-all.
This isn't a stadium like with angled seating or anything, it's basically a giant warehouse with long tables and plastic chairs (unless you get the padded VIP seating that is). But it's small enough that every seat is a good seat, and there's not really much advantage to being ringside (in my opinion). We were in the second-last row and had a great view.
Before the fighting begins, a server hands you an English menu and you can order a beer, cocktail, soft drink, or a juice. Prices are OK.
While you wait, there's an instructional video about Muay Thai, showing the moves and where to hit, and some guys training. It's subtitled, and it's actually pretty informative (and cheesy which was awesome).
You'll know when the fighting is about to start when they play - wait for it - the Final Countdown.
The fights themselves are like other reviewers said - they start out with beginners and then get more ferocious as the night wears on. I saw 3 knockouts which was exciting, and the "lady fighters" are pretty hard core. I saw some of the moves from the video at the beginning which was pretty cool. Tons of impressive high kicks.
Bathrooms are free, but be prepared for a squatter and no T.P. (pretty typical for Thailand).
After it's over, the fighters walk around the stadium, so if you ever wanted a selfie with a real Muay Thai fighter, this is your chance.
Fighting finished up around 11pm, and there were plenty of tuk-tuks and songtaews to take us home.
All in all, a fun way to spend a Saturday night, some people got really into cheering for the fighters, and some of the fights (especially the last two) were really exciting.
If you found this review helpful, give it a thumbs up and help other travelers find it!

Every fight is fake and fixed. It's a complete waste of money and a mockery to Muy Thai. The bookies work the crowd to see if they can find drunk tourists to bet on fixed fights. Don't go here.

Terible experience. No real fight. Just few kids playing around, at the first punch they go to the ground and stop fighting even if nothing happened.
All flight took less than 5 min, but around 1h with all the songs and comments.
Not Worth. TOURIST TRAP

The worst experience in thailande i have done!!! 6 fight 5ko in the first minute (one after 10seconde). If it was due to good level it would be ok but it wasnt. The fighter look like 14 15 years old and everytime they got hit its over. I didnt saw any good punch. Really don't go there !!! Even for free i would move the stadium after the second fight !!!

Entry is 600,000 for the standard seats. Would recommend these over the more expensive seats as the view really isn’t anything different. The VIP area is also behind some not very clean window so your view is impaired. Standard tickets are best.
The boxing itself was really good fun and it was great for a first time experience. There are 7 fights in total, some of which are international fights. Overall would absolutely recommend coming here for a fun night of boxing.
NB don’t place a bet with the people who offer you bets, as they will always choose the winner.

I didn’t listen to all of the negative reviews thinking “I’m just a tourist, what do I care or even know if it’s bad quality muay thai right?”. But no, this was actually so bad it could qualify as a scam. They last second cancelled the main fight of the night. And even all of the other fights were actual preteens and teens under 150 pounds, it was literally like watching middle school wrestling. I kept thinking these must just be the opening acts but it didn’t get any better. This is actually such poor and embarrassing quality for being one of the main stadiums in Chiang Mai. Save yourself money, and spend ur evening anywhere else.

We really enjoyed the Muay Thai fight. The Arena itself is not much but there really are no bad seats as the ring is raised. There were six fights the night we went and the fights are one after the other with no break in between, Nonstop Action. Tickets are advertised for 500 baht but can be found for 400 Baht All Around The Old City. It is advertised from 9 p.m. to midnight But we were out of there just after 11.

First of all... This IS a tourist trap. Some locals, but not too many. They're likely there just to bet (take advantage) of tourists. The fighters are very lackluster... Most of them are just children! Some older lady fights... Blind folded fights with several "boxers" in the ring. Maybe one decent fight with adult aged men.
Now, that doesn't mean you can't have fun! I sat ring side (definitely negotiate a STRONG discount if you're into it). With enough Chang, anything is fun. They have decent prices on the big ones. Honestly, I didn't find any real Muay Thai in Chiang Mai. Hit up the Channel 7 Boxing Stadium in Bangkok for a more authentic experience.

I believe they have fights every day of the week. Check for the posters around town or stop into one of the ticket vendors.
