15 minutes to only see the place and 40min if you need to clean your mind after a heavy night at the bar if you have committed that!.

This is one of the many Wat (temple) scattered all over Chiang Mai. There are tours offering to take you to them all but If you like walking like I do then I suggest to just explore on your own. Buy or download a map and off you go. You can also rent a bicycle or motorbike for faster transport.

This temple is Lanna style - outside the old city but not too far for walk. The massive chedi was built in 1527.

This Wat has several attractions: huge chedi, pagoda in Lanna style, 3 buildings with male sculptures at the front, etc. I like the tall statues of 2 "monkeys" that seemed to greet us as we entered the wat. There is also a bridge near this Wat which crosses a small creek. Tip: Visit the other Wats located near it. Happy... More

This Wat was among the nicest that I saw. There are lots of other monuments and areas to explore on the grounds of the Wat too.

Beautiful wooden temple with elaborate decorations, with the surrounding wall providing welcome shelter from the road next to it. This gives it a peaceful vibe. There is a brick stupa with statue of budha on top and rope mechanism for worshippers to raise a water in bamboo container to him to give him a shower. Lovely ritual to watch and... More

Wat Lok Molee was declared as National Treasure due to the historical and architectural of the area. It was built over 500 years ago with old Lanna architecture. And when it was renovated, buildings were built to reflect new Lanna (Chiang Mai) era. There are plenty of literature to read about history of the temple and the Kingdom. A must... More

Wat Lok Molee was a wonderful stop while walking the northern part of the old city. Very interesting architecture and nice grounds. Clean restrooms with good signage is also a plus. Very interesting history and a quiet break in a busy city.
