Great Activity
Oct 2021
Thai Farm Cooking School offered us an inspiring view in the Thai kitchen.
We could visit a local food market to get some of our ingredients, afterwards we'd had some time to look around. Our guide and cooking instructor Wass could explain everything we wanted to know.
On their farm we got to know the property and collected some fresh ingredients.
The cooking class is for every skill level, in total we all prepared our own curry paste, one soup, spring rolls, two main dishes and one desert. Furthermore we got to know how to prepare a papaya salad and could taste it as well.
I would recommend skipping your breakfast to save enough appetite for the six dishes you will eat within the six hours at the farm. Otherwise you're allowed to take away your food; water and lemongrass tea is available all the time.
At the end you'll get a receipt book with all the explanations and even more then just the meals you prepared, so you can bring the Thai kitchen back to your home country ;)

Organic Thai farm is the best thing we’ve done in Thailand!
Sep 2021 • Couples
I cannot stress enough how amazing our time at Thai Farm was. Communication was great from the start and everything was taken care of for us. The farm is adorable and has many fruit trees, we got to pick our own mangos for our dessert! We also got to pick peppers, herbs, beans and flowers that we used in our cooking. Wass, our teacher, was amazing. She was so positive and friendly and her instructions were really easy to follow. I feel like I understand and appreciate Thai food in a new way now and I wish we would have done this class at the start of our trip! I was SO full at the end too! It was just all amazing from start to finish.

Fantastic day activity in Chiang Mai
Nov 2019
I cannot emphasize how great of a class this was! It takes up almost a whole day (approximately 8am-5pm), so plan appropriately. However, it was definitely one of the highlights of our trip - and we were hesitant to do this in the beginning because we only had 3 days in Chiang Mai.

You start out with a trip to the local market and spend the rest of the day at the farm cooking. The food was delicious and those skills are definitely something you'll want to bring back as a forever souvenir. The speed and timing of the class was perfectly paced so that the experienced chefs-to-be (like my husband) weren't bored and that the less-experienced cooks (such as myself) could follow along without getting lost. I felt there was sufficient breaks for rest, water/tea, touring the farm, and of course, enjoying the fruits of your labor.

Obviously it helped that we had an engaging group. But what really made the experience magical was our guide/host - Gift. She was funny, approachable, knowledgeable and just a genuinely great person. If she worked with another cooking school, we'd probably sign up for that one if she was in charge of it because we know we'd have a blast and good food.

Also, tips at the end are highly appreciated. It's not mandatory, but she and the Thai farm Cooking School team just spent 8+ hours teaching and entertaining you, so keep that into consideration!

PS: This was from May 2018 (long overdue review, I know) and things may be different in the age of covid.

I'm glad I decided to join this activity. I enjoyed and learned a lot and I feel I am more confident now to buy produce from local market and cook my own Thai dishes when I come back to Bangkok. Fah is an amazing teacher, very kind and always ready to answer questions. The dishes we made taste so good. Highly recommend.

Cooking class with Kim
Jul 2020 • Couples
As expected during the easing of COVID 19 lockdown in Thailand, this trip out of the city and to the farm had some small adjustments to ensure hygiene was kept to high standards and close contact was kept to a minimum. We were taken to the local market, one of the cleaner and quieter markets around and then were taught by our instructor for the day, Kim, about Thai herbs and ingredients. At the farm and cooking school, we were shown around the farm, encouraged to taste the fresh fruit and veg they grow and collected some items we would need to cook our 4 different meals. Kim was a patient and thoughtful teacher who has excellent English skills. Would highly recommend this must do trip whilst in Chiang Mai.

We had a lovely day with Thai Farm Cooking School! They picked us up promptly from our hotel, then took us to a local market before driving out to their organic farm outside Chiang Mai. You get a tour of the farm and lots of opportunities to taste fruits, herbs, vegetables, etc. Then comes the cooking! Our chef, Wass, was really friendly and explained everything step by step, including how to make curry paste from scratch. Honestly well worth the money for a lovely day of cooking and relaxing outside the city.

Reopened and teaching us how to make delicious Thai meals!
Jul 2020 • Friends
The Thai Farm cooking school is reopened (post-lockdown) and is still an amazing class! Includes a guided market trip and an amazing cooking class, using ingredients from their beautiful garden to make five glorious Thai dishes 😍❤️. I highly recommend this cooking experience. I've now added some yummy Thai meals I can cook at home. Pick up/drop off from accomodation. Friendly, helpful staff. Clean and safe facilities.
