    100% worth it!
So many great reviews here already - I think what I can add is that it's definitely a great beginners course and the way that Wass (our teacher) explained the different courses was really helpful because she related each dish option to the others, so we can see what makes one dish unique but also similar. Top tip I would have is to bring a little notebook and take notes as you like. I think that the teachers slightly modify the recipes from the book to cook "freestyle" so if you want to remember something specific, the notebook is handy. I think the full day is worth it because it is so much food, the extra time gives you the chance to digest and just take in the surroundings. Great value for your money and way to spend the day.

    Amazing! (Best instructor = Was!)
This was one of the best things we did in Thailand! The whole experience was fantastic. We learned how to make delicious soup, Pad Thai, spring rolls, curries, and mango sticky rice, all on a beautiful farm with a brilliant, high-energy instructor named Was. If you can request the class with Was, it’s well worth it—she’s a great cook and a fun, helpful instructor! Plus, you don’t need any prior cooking experience. They do hotel pick up and drop off and get you back to your hotel by 2/2:30, which makes for the perfect half-day experience.

One of my favorite things during a month in Thailand!
June 2023 Wass was an amazing, engaging guide and teacher! Getting to visit the market and the farm grounds to see and gain insight into the ingredients we'd be later cooking with made the experience so much more memorable! Great menu selections to choose from and tremendous service. If you're in Chiang Mai and enjoy Thai Food, this will be one of your top highlights. Would do it again in a heartbeat!

Great fun day and your own cooking might surprise you
It was a lot of fun. I went into it with a little trepidation as I’m horrible in the kitchen. But the pacing and format of the class was very approachable and was actually very fun. It began with a tour of the garden to know some of the common Thai herbs and ingredients. Then we proceeded to cook. Having a lot of the ingredients measured out and prepped definitely helped. All you really needed to do was cut some basic ingredients, combine them and turn on the heat… and I was quite surprised how my Thai food turned out pretty tasty. My teacher was Garnet. She was very animated, funny and chatty. She definitely made the day a great experience. Try to request for her for your class. I will definitely recommend it as a fun thing to do with your loved ones and friends.

One of my favorite travel experiences ever!
Me and my 2 teens had a fantastic experience and learned so much. They were right on time to pick us up in a nice van. The drive to the market and farm were beautiful. I loved how our teacher Waas gave us so much information about Thai ingredients and how they are grown. I have a masters degree in nutrition and food systems and I learned so much. We were guided step by step on how to make 5 dishes of our choice. Each was delicious. Can’t wait to use the cookbook at home. My teens loved it too.

Fun, Great experience, Lots of learning, Worth every penny
You get some great Info about all the ingredients, learn to Cook hands on under great instruction of a skilled teacher, get to eat your food afterwards (or take it home if your full). Pick Up and drop Off at your Hotel is included (at least for the full-day course). Possible for vegans, vegetarians, and mostly everybody else (idk about gluten free). Generally, if you enjoy cooking, or want to learn to enjoy cooking, this course is worth every penny. I can only recommend everybody staying in Chiang Mai for a couple of days to take this opportunity. Booking isn't too complicated as well, but only possible through their website. Make sure you have the right one, as there are a lot of fakes.

Great thing to do alone, with friends or family in Chiang Mai
Such a great, fun, educational and inspiring class! We were picked up and enjoyed a visit to a local market then around their organic farm for ingredients. We had a blast with all 10 participants and LOVED making our meals with Thai Farms guidance and expertise! Highly RECOMMEND this class! We stayed in Chiang Mai foor 6 days and it was a highlight!

    Very worthwhile experience
What a fantastic experience. I cannot believe what I cooked in my half day class. Soup.. spring rolls.. curry and dessert. Wass proved to be an excellent guide to the market and the organic garden. And then she taught us to cook. Wow she was amazing and her spoken English made it very easy for our lovely mixed group.. Thank you so much for introducing us to Thai cuisine. My husband and I looking forward to trying it at home in Ireland

    Great experience
The chef has been great. She showed us all the plants for the food we cooked and did also advise on replacements when we cook Thai food at home. I thought that we would buy ingredients for the cooking at the market, but we just have been shown around. It has been nice to see it though. Anyway, it is much nicer the cooking school grows their own fruits and vegetables to use in classes.

This was such a pleasant surprise. Oil was our instructor and she was so courteous. I had such a great time making these dishes, there was plenty to eat for sure. The day went by so fast but making homemade green curry paste by hand was something I’ll never forget! Highly recommend to get out and away from the city and into an open air kitchen cooking Thai food!

We did a half day cooking class, so our time was limited. The drive to the farm takes about an hour (depending on where people have to be picked up). After ~half an hour there is a short stop at a market, which is okay, but didn't provide any great insides imo. When we arrived at the farm we first did a tour around the farm to see many vegetables and plants we would use. That was part was very interesting.
We could pick a type of curry and one of two soups as well as the meat (or veggie).
Together with the class (~10 people) we then prepared and cooked those. In addition we also made Pad Thai and a desert with banana and coconut milk. Our instructor Kim did a good job on explaining everything we needed to know. In the end we ate everything together and I think everyone was satisfied with their result.

The day our family spent at the Thai Farm Cooking School was easily the best experience of our three week trip to Thailand. It "worked" for all ages in our family - from 20 through 76. The layout of the school is unique in that there is an organic farm which you tour to see many of the ingredients for the dishes you will be cooking. Equally nice is the layout of the open air classrooms. The spaces are architecturally traditional and though there are five classes happening at the same time, they are in separate pavilions so you don't hear or see the others. It is just you and your group, at the individual cooking stations. Everyone felt successful making five delicious dishes. Special praise for Kim whose sweet voice, clear instruction and passion for cooking was evident throughout this great experience. Leslie

For beginners or veteran cooks, this class was full of information, fun facts and practical instruction. Gift was able to answer my questions about the farm and also provide me with some supplemental ideas for using produce that I grow. I have taken other courses in my travels and this was by far one of the best experiences I have had. Great staff, good food and lots to learn. Come with a big appetite! Also, I want to give a special commendation to Gift, who was very successful in communicating with a group of mixed language tourists! She made every effort to connect with each member of the group and her language skills were exceptional (and appreciated).

We had a wonderful time at this class. Wass was our instructor and she was amazing from beginning to end. She got to know us, she made jokes, and she knew the food so well she could answer all of our questions. Her English was great and of course everything we ate was amazing. If you have the day, it is worth it. Highly recommended!

This was a truly immersive experience with a lively, smart, and fun cooking teacher named Wass. We began by going to a large Thai food market where she gave us a tour of different ingredients, then arrived at the farm where she showed up all the produce grown there...some of which we picked for our recipes. Then we chose the curry we wanted to cook—green, yellow or red—and she demonstrated the technique and instructed us. We ended up cooking the curries, two soups, spring rolls and sticky rice for dessert. Everything was delicious and made for a fabulous lunch, which also included green papaya salad and mango with sticky rice, that Wass and her assistants cooked.

The morning started with Kim, our guide and cooking facilitator arriving at our hotel on time. She spoke English very well. From our hotel we made a few stops to pick up people from other hotels and went to a local market before heading to the farm. At the market our group was introduced to several types of rice. At least three I have never seen in the USA. The first of my new learning experiences. Once we arrived at the farm I was hit with the big WOW of cooking knowledge. As long as I have been cooking rice I have been doing it incorrectly. Sticky rice and jasmine rice are not cooked using the same method. Next, we took a short tour of the farm and was familiarized with some of the herbs, roots and spices we would use in our cooking. Kim not only gave us the name of the plants, but also its family classification and some dishes in which they are used.

The class itself was so much fun. We prepared five different items. The pepper heat was as mild or as spicy as the cook seasoned the dish. I believe that everyone was satisfied with their creations. It was a lot of food for one person, so I ended up taking enough back to my hotel to have for dinner. We were given very nice cookbooks including recipes we had not prepared. I would definitely recommend this full day class for anyone wanting to learn to cook Thai.

My husband and I did a half day cooking class with Kim at Thai Farm Cooking School and would highly recommend to others in Chiang Mai looking for a cooking class. We wanted an experience that wasn’t just cooking but that took us to the market and through the farm explaining the different ingredients and we got just that. Kim was a wonderful instructor, was incredibly funny, and left us much more knowledgeable than when we arrived. The food was delicious, the cooking area was clean, and the farm was beautiful. Absolutely zero complaints from us on our experience. Even the logistics were flawless and they emailed us the night before and the morning of with an updated pickup time!

Lovely experience to cook some delicious Thai dishes together with our family (including a 4 and 7 year old).
They could really participate and were very proud of their own prepared Thai food. Since they made it themselves, they also liked eating the different curries (we left out the chilies as much as possible) , the pad Thai , the spring rolls and of course the sticky rice with mango.

We booked a private cooking class with our family, because we also have a 1 year old who can be quite energetic.
This turned out to be a great plan, because we could take our time and did not feel like we were ‘harassing’ other people. He enjoyed the food as well and ate several homegrown bananas.

Wass was a very patient and kind teacher and we had a lot of fun, first at the local market and later on the farm. I loved the green surroundings of the farm. This made the already superbe cooking class even better.

We booked a half day evening cooking class super spontaneously and the trip really exceeded our expections! The program was really cool including a stop at a local market, a tour around the organic farm and the cooking of 4 Thai dishes everyone could choose! Moreover our guide Garnet was the most likeable and funny person. She told us so many things about Thai culture and food and made us feel really welcome. Absolute must do while in Chiang Mai!!
