We stayed at the Ping Nakara hotel for 5 nights this past February. I contacted Mr. Noom at Lanna Boutique Travel ahead of our trip to coordinate 3 days of private excursions in and around Chiang Mai. He was very responsive and had many packages to choose from. Nes was our private tour guide for the 3 days. She did an excellent job and was very knowledgeable about the area, history and culture. Thanks to Lanna Travel, our trip to Chiang Mai was a very memorable one!

My 14 year old daughter and I spent three days in CHIANG Mai and Mr. Noom designed a private tour that went above and beyond. I emailed in advance and he promptly responded to all our questions and individual interests. We did the usual amazing experiences, elephant sanctuary, hill tribes, Mountian hiking, city temples, but he gave unique details, spoke the local languages, had relationships with the hill tribes, was patient and very knowledgeable. Afterwards he helped us find unique places to eat and see on our own. I have no complaints, highly recommend. We will return and do the ten day Golden Triangle tour with him.

Last year after spending a few days in Chiang Mai, I knew I had to come back and explore further. It wasn’t a holiday I was looking for, rather an adventure experiencing the authentic history, culture and spirituality of the Lanna Kingdom. My nearly four week sojourn surpassed all my expectations! Mr Noom and I had met on my previous trip and knew that I could trust him to provide exactly what I wanted. I emailed him with a list of things I love to do, my budget and requested that he come up with a plan. I wanted to surrender control and be a surprised by life so I asked Noom to make all the arrangements and not to send me an itinerary or any details, other than my flight. We (Noom, driver and myself) started from Chiang Mai and headed to Doi Inthanon. There we hiked through the jungle to Tiger Head mountain with local guide Yor who had packed a beautiful Thai picnic with the food wrapped up in leaves. We returned to Yor’s mountain village and spent time with the hill tribe people and children. Learning about the Karen tribe’s way of life was life changing and I could quite happily have stayed there forever. We continued through the windy mountains to Mae Hong Son, a lovely town near the Myanmar border. The eco lodge Fern Resort where I stayed was so beautiful and I loved that it provided employment to local hill tribe people. Hippy dippy town Pai had a totally different, but equally charming vibe. A boat ride across a man-made lake (dam) and I found myself staying in a floating wooden hut watching the sunset and then sunrise over the water. Water activities, cocktails and dinner in the floating restaurant were a highlight. From Thaton we travelled to the Golden Triangle and then Chiang Rai visiting the famed White temple and equally beautiful Quan Yin temple. Other activities included relaxing in the natural hot springs that cover the landscape of Northern Thailand, mud spa, tea plantation, monkey temple, caves and dress-ups at the Chinese and Japanese gardens. After a brief rest in Chiang Mai, we headed south to the historically significant sites of Sri Satchanalai, Sukhothai and Phitsanulok. Getting around by bicycle we visited ancient temples and Buddhas that rival those at Angkor Wat. Back in Chiang Mai, I learnt how to cook traditional Thai dishes, played with happy elephants at an ethical camp, traditional dancing at the cultural show and visited the beautiful Blue temple and meditation centre. Noom was truely wonderful. He is intelligent, a great conversationalist and can discuss absolutely everything and anything. He was always so kind, caring and respectful, constantly solicitous about my well being and happiness. The food was wonderful and Noom provided me with the opportunity to sample the best of Northern cuisine and ensured that everything was cooked fresh and at a spice level I could handle. Traveling as a single female I never felt unsafe, concerned or even the slightest bit apprehensive, as Noom had taken care of everything. I can’t thank Noom and Lanna Boutique Travel enough for providing me with such an amazing adventure and memories that will last a life time.
