We went on an excellent, and very unique, tour in Chiang Mai - called the Mind and Soul tour. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and really explained a lot to us, and made it a very memorable experience. We first went to a market where all the locals go, and saw all of the interesting and unusual dishes and foods that they make and sell. Then we gave food to monks to 'make merit' and then proceeded to their temple/sanctuary to see their morning ritual and chanting before eating. It was such a different experience, unlike anything we had seen before. After that we toured the monk's sanctuary and the beautiful grounds, and got to see where they learn as well as take pictures of ancient Buddhist buildings. Then we went on to an ornate Buddhist temple, with a giant golden Buddha. After that, our excellent guide took us to a local Thai restaurant where the food was really good. It was such a great tour, our guide made us feel like we were a part of the local community, and we really learned a lot about Buddhism and the local area from her. I'd highly recommend the tour - it's something you won't forget.

My friend and I took the Mae Ping River Experience tour. We absolutely LOVED it, and our tour guide Fah was so informative. Fah taught us so much about the history and culture- definitely do this tour with her!

We had a great half a day in Chiang Mai together with our tour guide Amy.
Starting at a buddhist temple facing the river where we've experience the real ritual of offering goods to the monks.
Taking a moment for ourselves, being not just tourist but travellers we've prayed together with the monk we've made the offering to.
We have visited many temples during our stay in northern Thailand but this one will remain in our hearts.
Afterwards we went on a small boat on a river cruise and while our guide was giving us lots of information about the old city and its tradition, we've disembarked further north in a farm-restaurant on the river bank.
We had a delicious Thai lunch with many genuine vegetables farmers grow themselves.
Then we went back on the boat cruising towards the old flower market.
Again our guide has proven to be a very experienced one, we were completely at ease going around the mazeful market and she gave explanation about lots of details we would have completely missed going around on our own.
Overall it has been an unforgettable experience I strongly reccomend when visiting Chiang Mai!! :-)

We did two tours with Urban Adventures in Chiang Mai and they were amongst the best we have ever taken. The emphasis is on everyday Thai life, including seeing Thai spiritual life in action. We were truly moved by the blessing given to us by a monk after we made an offering. Eating a typical Thai breakfast among the locals beat our usual hotel breakfast hands down! All transport used is local - this is a great way to ease into independent exploration of the city.
Our guides, Aon and Thongbang, were friendly and knowledgeable, and happy to discuss various questions that arose during the respective tours.
Highly recommended!

My girlfriend and I did this tour on our first day in Chiang Mai. We got to try some delicious local foods and and visit a handful of temples and learn a bit about the culture. Our guide Suchin was friendly, answered all of our questions and left us with a good impression of Chiang Mai.

Tanya is smart and passionate about her country and we had a fantastic time learning about the culture and people of Thailand! The river boat ride was Peaceful & Beautiful and the lunch at the farm was Delicious! Definitely a great way to learn about Chiang Mai and the lifestyle here!

I took the Chang Mai Mae Ping River Tour. Tanya was an excellent guide - very enthusiastic, knowledgeable and flexible. This is a great way to learn about the area, have a leisurely boat ride and experience some excellent food. The city part prior to the boat was also interesting, experiencing the Chinese market and some temples, but it seemed a little rushed - might work better if it was an hour longer.

Booked as way to spend our last 1/2 day, and did not disappoint. Guide Payou (Fah) was fabulous - local knowledge, chatted just enough but also left time to chill an relax on the boat. Nice lunch, in setting with medicinal herb garden and arranged offering to and blessing by monk at the end. Also met us at hotel, arranged transport back - all in all just what we wanted.

Tanya was my guide on this early morning tour. We first went to the almsgiving before heading to the market, Wat Umong and Wat Suan Dok. Very few people were at the temples and we had time to reflect and meditate. Tanya was an excellent guide. She provided all sorts of background of the sites we visited. She has a tremendous passion for her city and her culture.

As your mentioned of senior on the trip, are they OK to walk and little active? Please see more trip info. on our web. intrepidtravel and search for trip Chiangmai. There are a few options for Hilltribe visit and trekking there. More comfortable Chiangmai & Golden Triangle tour (TTAG) $582 per person (twin share). More active travel to Chiang Mai and trek through northern Thailand to discover hilltribe culture, village life and local experiences on this hilltribe trek (TTAX) $420 per person. Thank you so much.
