You don’t need a great deal of time to wander around this museum but it is certainly worth visiting. You don’t have to pay if you only want to see the ground floor but dual pricing applies for the full building. There’s no point in taking it out on the staff…they don’t make the rules! Dual pricing operates across Thailand so you either pay it or miss out on many many experiences.
The staff are very helpful , some being students at the University and it is really is a fascinating place to visit. Combine it by also visiting the adjacent temple to make a good visitor experience.

Stunningly restored building and exhibition has been nicely curated. However, there’s not much information in there for what you pay. Instead of having a guide, it would be nicer to bulk up the information displayed.

60 Baht entrance to the traditional Lanna house. Guide or without a guide its up to you. Tour takes about 15mins. Small house but you will know more about the history of traditional Lanna house. Nice tiny coffee shop inside the compound. Toiet available at the back but shoes not allowed, you have to change into their provider rubber slippers.

Racist place, they charged me double the price because I am not Thai.
Instead of paying 60baht like everyone they tried to charge me 120bht because I am not Thai people.
Disgusting racist behavior.

This single building 'museum' charges more than double for foriegners than Thais, even though its part of Chiang Mai University which just recieved $250,000 from the US government for just such places. Go to the Lanna park just a bit further much better with a 20 baht price for all.

The Lanna Architecture Center is a nice, quiet spot in the middle of Chiang Mai's old city center. If you walk by, stop for a visit. The entrance is for free, they fill you in on some interesting facts about old houses around the city. Plus, there's a cute cafe and a small shop where you can buy beautiful souvenirs.

A refreshing and beautiful break from the hot Chiangmai weather. The tea changes color when you add lemon juice like a magical chemistry experiment.

Lanna Architecture centre is a faculty of Chiang Mai university. We learned about the renovation of the khum chao burirat house which was awarded historic building preservation award of the year in 2005. It is surround by the Chiang Mai city arts and cultural centre, 3 kings monument, Wat Duang Dee, Wat Chidi Luang and Wat Phra Singh Woranahaviharn. Spend 30 minutes looking round at least.

Came across this place on the way to Wat Chedi Luang - essentially right across the road and round the corner. Free entry but worth a donation.
Beautiful building built for Chiang Mai royalty before it was disestablished. Fascinating to read about. Worth the 30-45 minutes it takes to have a look. Go there be because you're going to visit Chedi Luang anyway, right?

This old Thai house in the centre of the old town is being renovated by the University's architecture department. It has a few rooms of exhibits about the history of this building and about different styles of Lanna architecture. The information is given in Thai and English in professional looking displays and with model buildings. We found the information about wats and chedis and the significance of their layout to be illuminating as we have visited quite a few in the area. Entry is free, most of the exhibits are upstairs.
