I've stayed near this market several times. However, I rarely shopped here due to sky-high prices of mostly fruit and vegetables.(A lot of fruit is around double and veg' triple the price found at other markets, e.g. tomatoes 60 bt per kilo). Cheaper to shop in the supermarket for many items especially fresh produce. Some cheap clothes outlets and good... More

A great place to buy fresh fruits and vegetables, and inexpensive Thai food. A bee-hive of activity, especially from 4-6 pm. Other shops sell shoes, clothing, cosmetics, etc. includes a bakery as well.

I love Thanin market. It is my go to place for the best food in Chiang Mai. An excellent selection of local produce where Thais go to shop. I especially love the hot food displayed in large wok shaped pots and scooped into plastic bags so you take home to your home or hotel. Prices are the same as other... More

Expensive for non local. If we could not speak the local language, they will charge super expensive (im thai but not local). Overall the market is clean and verietiess. The food is extremely expensive. The fish in the picture is 100 baht. I used to buy it 20 baht per piece before (same shop) when the owner see that I am... More

Clean fresh market where you can find local thai food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I tried congi with mince pork for breakfast on a cold nice morning on Chang peuk road, opposite Rajchapat University. Fresh meat and vegetable can be found here including fruits. Other shops for many type of things such as shoes, cloths, toys etc. Many student... More

Great place to get a feel for life in Chiang Mai. There are areas with seafood, some with pork, and many with vegetables. Great to walk around and see.

This place is a must see! It was also where the 2012 Masterchef finalists had to cook if memory serves me correctly. I review this place in full with pictures along with some of my other favourite street food hot spots here: http://floandelle.blogspot.co.uk/2014/06/a-homage-to-chiang-mai-street-food.html

This is a food market thai style , you can find almost anything eaten in everyday Thai cooking here . Both Raw and prepared . Hygienically it "appears" to be a cut above some of the others I've seen . There is an entire building with an endless selection of Thai street food delicacies . If your an expat or... More

As probably stated by other reviewers, this is not the normal run of the mill tourist market, but it is the real deal. Having just returned I think we were the only non-Thais there, which made it all the better. There is a huge fresh meat and sea food area next to a food hall which seems to have every... More
