We popped in during the day when both men and some women were being put through their paces - it certainly looked hard going and taken very seriously - a lot of shouting and encouraging going on. I have seen a real Thai boxing tournament...More

I bought my adult son to Chiang Mai and really wanted to take him to a Muay Thai event. Unfortunately, the more “legitimate” stadium did not have an event that night and we had to leave the next morning, so we kicked down for the...More

We saw a Mui Thai poster at Loco Elvis and decided to give it a go. Booked advanced VIP seats for the following night event at a local ticket vender and hoped we hadn’t got scammed, but sure enough... all was good. We took an...More

We are training Muay Thai boxing and our friends from the gym were fighting. Awesome experience! Not the biggest stadium but good seats wherever you were sitting.

I want with a friend who enjoys Muay Thai fighting and expected to see the fighters go through the motions and be somewhat fake. I was wrong. The fights were quite real and intense. I truly enjoyed the battles which were enjoyable as a spectator....More

Kawila Boxing Stadium - Friday night only? (3 Replies)
Hi guys! We leave for our first trip to Thailand in 10 days (sooo excited!!). Whilst in Chiang Mai we really want to see some genuine Muay Thai fights. I've read that the Kawila Stadium hosts these events on Friday evenings only - is this true? If not, what other nights are the events held? Is there a difference in the quality of the fights on, say, a Saturday night compared to a Friday night? We arrive on Saturday you see, & I'm wondering if it's worth adjusting our flights to arrive on...More

Has anyone personally gone to the Kawila Boxing Stadium? I am hoping to go Friday night but was wondering exactly what time to go there, how to buy tickets, where I should sit (pay extra for better seats?) etc! Thanks!

Went to the match last night and just wanted to give some tips! We went on Friday night and got tickets through our guesthouse (400 baht tickets and we paid 350 baht). We showed up at 9:30pm (even though it started at 8:30pm) and people said when we got there it had just started anyway. We walked from the night market (10 to 15 minutes) and got a bit lost but all the locals know where it is and will help you! We entered on the left doorway and the seats are general admission so we moved...More

Lovetotravel....I realise you posted on the Chiang Mai forum, but I figured if you are coming from the USofA you will more than likely be flying into BKK and probably have a day or two there. Graham.
