The Ratchaphruek Flower Gardens are a must-see when visiting the Chiang Mai area. The expansive gardens are incredibly picturesque. Bike rentals are available and, for less active travelers, an electric bus is available to take you around.

- NickGiGermany178 contributionsNice park with wonderful flowers and plants!! Must see in Chiang MaiThis is one of the nice sparks I have seen in Thailand. The flowers and fauna is really pretty. A great place to go and it is not crowded and full of!!! Great day out. The temple is also quite amazing.Visited March 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten March 17, 2024
- GabrielleWeston super Mare, United Kingdom39 contributionsA quiet gemA quiet hidden gem in Chiang Mai, about 30 mins by car outside of the city centre (we’ve been using bolt and have been getting super cheap rates). There’s loads to see, and activities for children to do on the way around. Highly recommend getting the bikes, which are for rental on the right as you walk in. We rode around and then just left them on the side of the road/path when you were looking at other parts. This place is so gorgeously quiet that it felt like we had the whole place to ourselves, which added to its charm and beauty.Visited July 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten July 27, 2024
- KiwiWithWings80Auckland Central, New Zealand80 contributionsThis park is a marvel! Don’t take the negative reports seriously!!It’s a tropical garden in a hot climate. Assume you are going to feel the heat! Visitors are well cared for with a frequent free shuttle bus and cycles to hire. Although some areas are under repair or reconstruction, the majority of the gardens are simply breathtaking. Having visited many gardens internationally, I have never been so impressed as I was by the Orchid Pavillion. The garden beds were in perfect condition and beautifully designed. The mature native and exotic trees were magnificent specimens, perfectly sited. The Royal Pavilion is absolutely beautiful, an architectural masterpiece befitting His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great. The tinkling of hundreds of tiny bells produce a heavenly feeling, the interior hall is spectacular. The Royal Park is a quick taxi ride from the city. The entrance fee is THB100. The entrance fee for Kew Gardens in London is over THB990. This garden is an absolute treasure, and I would recommend it without reservation.Visited August 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten August 25, 2024

It is a fairly large and well maintained garden about half an hour away from the city centre. The garden is divided into several sections. I liked the orchid garden, rose garden, gardens of the world and the Royal Pavilion. Better to pay separately for the bus service as it is a large garden and walking the entire area is almost impossible. It would be a good idea to take one round of the entire bus tour and select the portions that you like. You can get off at your chosen destination in the next round. One can easily spend 2-4 hours here.

It’s very sad to see the Royal Flora move in a sad direction affecting foreigner entrance fees.
I have lived 16 years as a retiree in Chiang Mai and they charge the same price as someone visiting on vacation from another country.
If you are a Thai national over age 60 you are afforded a senior discount.
Shame on the management for discriminating against seniors who are retired foreigners like myself who had lived in Chiang Mai for 16 years and are still considered tourists.

It's a little outside the city but please make the effort to visit - take a taxi and agree a time for your return pick up. We only had a couple of hours there but to do it justice, allow double this. The ticket price includes use of the tourist tram with various hop on/hop off stops. The park has gardens of different styles - Englsh rose, Indian, Japanese etc

Amazing place, I have rarely seen such a high quality park. We were expecting some nice flowers but boy was this a pleasant surprise.
The tram which takes you around the park is great and offers a wonderful oversight before you venture out exploring. We could have spent many more hours but unfortunately the park closes early which does not really allow for much walking around due to very high daytime temperatures.
All in all, this was worth every Baht (despite double pricing standards being applied).

We learned about this park this week though we have lived here four years! How incredible a place! Similar to a botanical garden but beyond that. They have a tram which we advise you take to see the entire park, then walk around to take photos. There are food sections, a coffee cafe, numerous toilets, bountiful flower beds, an orchid park, butterfly (bug ) world,
children’s playground, benches all over go relax, a chapel about Rama IX very educational, a small wat, and an area of different countries with their specific garden species of trees, plants, and flowers. We thought we would stay 2 hours, but 4 was not enough so we will go back! Make sure you bring a battery pack for your camera if you take photos of flowers...so vivid. Even with the cooler December weather, the orchids were glorious!
If the Royal Project has food and souvenirs available, take advantage of them! They were in a large orange building.
It makes a perfect first date experience if you are in a new dating experience. Very very romantic for sure!

This park was what we found when were searching for the botanical gardens. It's not what we were looking for, but we enjoyed our time there nonetheless. The park is huge and well kept. There are specialized pavilions, like orchids and bonsai trees. There are also 20-30 international gardens planted by foreign governments or institutions, symboliing their native flora.
There is a free shuttle around the grounds with a recorded explanation.

Perhaps the high point of our Chiang Mai stay. Not too far a trip from the centre, this amazing garden was full of bright floral displays despite the lack of rain. Ambitious gardens; a fascinating orchid area; and many imaginative mini-gardens presented by different countries presenting their national identity in floral form (that of Belgium perhaps an error of judgement). The royal pavilion overlooks the garden. It becomes hot so the free shuttle bus around the park/garden is very welcome. We thought this a more worthwhile visit than the Queen Sirikit Botanic garden, although that is a natural environment so perhaps not really comparable. N.B. You need a taxi to get there and need to pay for them to stay waiting and take you back, which they probably expect to do anyway.

No credit card payments accepted at the ticket counter and the cashier was not pleased with a 1000 Baht bill either.
Very convenient hop-on bus. Some parts of the park very well maintained. No access to the Sky Walk.
Overall, good half day out.

Does anyone know if this place is still open? The last review is from 30 march but that doesnt have to mean these people actually visited on that day.

What is the cost of renting a bicycle in this park, please?
Written November 26, 2018
My sincere apologies for late answer as I have been away on my travels. To be honest I never saw any bicycles in the park or at reception. There is a free shuttle bus running every few minutes which you can hop on and off. You can hire a golf cart but i do not know the cost.

Hi. Me and my husband are planning to go here this week. Is there any entrance fee, if yes how much? Also, are they strict when it comes to clothes? I’ll be wearing jeans and shirt when we go there! Thanks.

Can you get on and off the shuttle bus to visit the various gardens?
How often do the buses go round the park?
Thanks, Arthur
Written May 9, 2018
Sure you can get on and off the shuttl bus any place that attractiveness. Then wait for next shuttle bus to get on and drop next place that interest. Shuttle bus always go around every 20 minite approximately. Hope you will be happy here.
Thank you , Wilasluk Wongwai.
