There are a number of night markets in Chiang Mai, and this one is located along Bumrung Buri Road, starting at the Chiang Mai Gate of the Old City and spreading out for about two blocks in multiple directions (it's somewhat difficult to clearly define the limits of the market as I'm told the number of participating vendors can vary).

It's actually one of the smaller events in Chiang Mai, but it remains a wonderful place to sample a wide variety of street foods, local crafts and other wares. We were focused on the food aspect of our nocturnal excursion, and in this regard were very happy with the eats to be had.

This is the kind of place and environment that the late, great Anthony Bourdain would satiate his regular cravings for all kinds of pork-related goodness, but there's a expansive selection of beef, chicken, fruits and veggies at hand as well. There's no set sequence to how you go about exploring the many stalls- just pick a direction, start walking and stop to munch when the mood strikes you. The prices are incredibly inexpensive for those used to food inflation in the US, and the quality of food is excellent (and very often prepared right in front of you as you anxiously await to taste the proverbial rainbow of flavors and textures: sweet, spicy, salty, chewy and always delicious. Our family of four ate our fill (which was a lot, I would otherwise be embarrassed to admit outside the confines of this review) for approximately 50 USD.

There were a few stalls that seemed to have a reputation for good eats, as the waiting line for these vendors was always long. The dedicated foodie draws upon whatever reserves of gastronomic patience they have and tries to suppress the desire to exclaim "take my money!". There was one particular gentleman selling BBQ pork ribs to a long line of customers...

Yes, it was worth the wait.

Excellent place to walk around if looking to sample lots of different street foods for a very low price. Be sure to get a fresh smoothie for practically nothing, and stop at the man selling the plates of pork, rice and vegetables. A filling lunch for just a couple dollars.

Street Food stalls to be found on both sides of the road. Everything from traditional Thai food to more western types. We ate fried rice/pork, (45bhat)and sat on the informal seating directly behind the vendor (each street vendor supplies their own clients seating and are very particular about only their clients sitting there). We had a mango/pineapple iced smoothie (25 Bhat) and finished it off with a banana /Nutella roti (55 Bhat). All our food was great tasting and neither of us were ill. Have cash as no one takes card/electronic payments.

The Night Market in Chiang Mai is a must-visit destination for travelers who enjoy shopping and experiencing local culture. The market opens every evening and offers a wide range of products such as clothing, accessories, souvenirs, and handicrafts. Visitors can also find an abundance of food stalls selling local delicacies and snacks. The market is vibrant and lively, with numerous street performers and musicians adding to the ambiance. While it can get crowded, especially on weekends, the atmosphere is generally relaxed and friendly.
Overall, the Night Market in Chiang Mai is an excellent place to shop, eat, and soak up the local culture. Visitors should be prepared to haggle for the best prices and take their time exploring the many stalls and attractions.

This is a good smaller night market in Old City. Easy walking distance from most hotels. My must haves are Gyoza, mango sticky rice and Roti. Roti is dough they fry that you put toppings in. I get banana, nutella and milk. Most vendors can understand English. You can tell if they have their menus posted in both Thai and English words. There are places to sit but they are owned by the vendors so they will tell you where to sit. If you want alcohol you need to go to the 7-11 right on the market street. There is a vendor that sells fried chicken on a stick and spring rolls that are delicious! You must have the Gyoza and that is the name on the stand. I prefer to eat local markets. You need baht, try to pay in smaller amounts as they may struggle to change large bills.

I visited this market with a friend three nights in a row and we enjoyed delicious food each night at very reasonable prices. The wide variety of stalls means that you are guaranteed to find something that you like, and everyone is very friendly. It is lovely to sit eating on the tables in the middle between the stalls, the atmosphere is relaxed but authentic. Would definitely visit again!

Walked by a fake watch stall on Night Market Bazzar and the owner/employee was very rude. Asked how much the costs of his fake Rolexs etc. and was asked how much can I afford. Told him his watches were not of good quality and then he told me I have no money anyways to buy the better ones. Asked him to show me the better ones but he was rude saying you Chinese always want to bargain. I'm American Chinese though he looked down on people of Asian descent. I am just writing this review because I felt angry he treated customers this way.

The market sets up just outside the Chang Phuek Gate or the North Gate of the Old City. Many vendors offer a range of authentic northern Thai dishes. The food is tasty and economical. You can either eat it there or take away. For a truly authentic experience, pull up a tiny plastic chair and order your food so that you can enjoy the food there. Our favorite Thai street foods are Vegan Pad Thai and Mango with Sticky Rice .

This is one of the best night market in Chiang Mai. Great vendors and stalls selling many different foods. The stalls on the canal have tables and chairs set up so you can sit down and enjoy your meals.

The night market is a local favorite, many come, stop by and get their food for dinner here. It's very vibrant and lively, great atmosphere.

We were fortunate enough to be taken to the Chiang Mai Gate Night Market by a guide and we were so happy she did (we returned again a couple of nights later). This place doesn't exist during the day and comes to life at night. The choice and quality of food is exceptional. Our favourites were definitely the Khao Soi, Thai Sausage, the Banana Roti (with chocolate of course) and especially the Khanom Krok (Thai Coconut Pudding) - if you have a sweet tooth this is to die for.
