Spent half a day with 'A' and the Thai Orchid team learning to cook Thai Style in January 2017.

From responding to emails, collection from our hotel and then a fabulous morning cooking & at the market we had a great time.

My wife doesn't really cook yet she was enthused because of the structured and organised way everything was taught to try even at home! You can cook from a selection of popular dishes and you felt that although the course has been run 100's of times they have learnt each time so felt effortless from us as participants.

Great fun. Don't think about it just book it. Happy to answer any q's you may have.

We had a really enjoyable day with A and Kong - both of whom are so lovely - learning how to cook our Thai favourites at home. The day was incredibly educational and we really enjoyed the cooking and eating parts! We learnt how to make 5 different dishes (appetiser, soup, curry, main and pudding). To offer some positive criticism - this was quite a lot for us and, as there were 2 of us from the same household, we could have learnt perhaps either an appetiser or soup each, then a curry or main each and then both have learnt how to make a pudding, and that would have been enough for us to take home the skills for all 5 dishes but we understand that perhaps not everyone is visiting from the same household. We enjoyed cooking but it was a long day of rich foods so more than we expected. We didn't eat anything for 24 hours afterwards! That said, we are very happy to know how to make all the dishes at home, but it would have been good if perhaps the day was a little shorter. Thoroughly enjoyable and we thank A and Kong again for their kindness and for sharing their cooking skills! We wish them all the best and do recommend that you visit them, especially if you enjoy eating Thai food!

After 6 weeks in Thailand, my partner and I couldn't return home without being able to reproduce some of the amazing food we had sampled during our trip and Thai Orchid Cooking School is definitely the place to learn!
A and her husband are friendly, funny, welcoming & exceptional teachers and the whole day was brilliantly organised. We were picked up by A and driven to the school with 2 other guys in the class. When we arrived we were given a slip of paper to select the dishes we wanted to cook. The rest of the class arrived (I think there was 11 of us in total) and we began cooking!
The cooking stations were clean and prepared with our ingredients and all of the demonstrations and instructions were clear and easy to follow and if you forgot anything, A was on hand to remind you what to do!
We liked how the demonstrations varied: for some dishes the class split into groups of what we had chosen to cook and shown what to do and for other dishes (e.g. the curries) we sat in the classroom and watched A or her husband cook the dishes (which we got to sample!) then returned to our cooking stations to do it ourselves!
The visit to the market was very informative and at the end of the class we got to try some fruits we hadn't sampled yet, e.g. durian!
The day was a highlight of our trip and definitely worth the price- we didn't stop eating! A and her husband clearly work very hard and deserve all of the excellent reviews they receive- I can't recommend it enough!

This is my first time it Thailand and I am here with my 12 year old son. I told him we would do some stuff for him and som for me... Everyone said you must do a Thai cooking course and Chiang Mai would be best for this. I read the reviews and Thai Orchid cookery school seemed fab. They were really helpful answering any queries before I arrived and it was easy to book.

The course is ran by A and Kong in their home. You start by choosing what you are going to cook that day. Josh, my son, chose differently to me and ended up in a different group - at first I was concerned he wouldn't be ok cooking on his own but A and Kong were fabulous. They were so helpful and kind - he settled in straight away and loved every minute.

There were 8-10 people on our course which was great - the environment was really clean and tidy and peaceful. The food was amazing and it teaches you what's in the curries you'll be eating so recommend doing it at the beginning of your trip. You will be eating all day so make sure you are hungry.

We also got taken to a food market and taught about local produce and saw the food we were cooking with. It really was educational and now I am in the south I know what a lot more fruit is than I would have if I didn't go on the course.

We have eaten lots of local food since arriving in Thailand but the food we cooked at Thai Orchid Cookery was without doubt the best - and the best part is you have a cook book to take away with you.

A and Kong really did make this a thoroughly enjoyable day too, I have never met such a lovely, kind, happy couple in my life. If I ever go back to Chiang Mai again I will 100% go and see them and do another course. It was not only my best day in Chaing Mai, but also probably Thailand (and I wouldn't have said that I am a cook/ normally prefer the Islands etc) but also this was my 12 years olds sons favourite day too.....

Do not miss out, we did this in mid Feb 2015! Absolutely brilliant, thank you A and Kong

We have been to a number of cooking schools and Thai Orchid has been the best.

- pick up from your hotel in a comfortable van
- you select the dishes you want to cook from a menu. But during the course you will see how all the dishes are prepared and you will get to sample everything.
- nice environment and everything is well organized.
- mid-way thru the course is a tour to the local market. Very informative.
- interacted with all the guests. Lots of fun!
- food is great, and we ate way-to-much.
- and, the hosts were great!

The course is ~6hrs. Baht 1200.

Great experience and a strong recommendation!

This was a good value, really well run experience that involved cooking four different dishes and visiting the local market for a tour. The facilities were spotless and very professional, with three helpers available at any point. Our guide spoke English very well and was very friendly. Overall, a great morning that I would recommend highly. Tip: don't eat before your class!

We had the best time learning to cook Thai food with Kong. There were only 8 people total in our group, making it very personal, and we each had our own station and burner. They have a great set up and we learned so much! Kong is a great host and also very entertaining. Definitely one of our highlights on the trip!

My husband and I had a blast!! Absolutely loved all the courses as well as the local market tour. Chef Kong was a great instructor as well as A. They were helpful throughout the entire process.

We had a great class as well which made it quite fun. Good balance of instruction, hands on, and eating! Would definitely recommend!

Hong was our great teacher. Very knowledgeable and patient. As a group of friends we all had a great time learning new thai dishes and general cooking skills. I've already made two dishes since I've been back (which is only a week). High recommend this if visiting Chiang Mai.

We had an absolute blast on our cookery course! It was great fun, we learnt so much (you realise how quick and easy Thai us to make, you just need the right ingredients) and the food was delicious! Make sure you only have a light breakfast as you'll be eating all day :) we each chose a starter, soup, curry, main and pudding to cook (and eat) and also visited a local food market to learn more about our ingredients. A must book in Chiang Mai!
