THB650 well spent: hotel pick-up / drop-off, a two-hour relaxing cruise in a motorboat with a roof so you’re protected from the hot sun, a guide who speaks good English, topped off with a pitstop at a “farmer’s house” where you get to enjoy a sumptuous lunch of local staple Khao Soy (curry noodle), fruit platter, water and herbal tea... The Mae Ping river cruise is a glorious way to spend a couple of hours as you casually glide up the Ping River. There isn't an enormous amount for the Captain/tour guide to point out although some of the homes of the 'very rich people', were impressive. The organic farm at the end of the journey was interesting and the... More

Enjoyed a two hour trip on the Ping river on a long tail boat, the river trip was not very special with no bird life or any other wildlife to be seen which was Disappointing. We spent half an hour at a "Farmhouse" which was not seen instead we were shown various trees and shrubs around a bar type building... More

We took a delightful short trip with Mae Ping River Cruise to the old city of Wiang Kum Kam. We were the only two passengers at 4.00 pm in late January, but were collected from our hotel, having booked that morning, welcomed, and sailed slowly downriver to the ruins of the old town, which predates Chiang Mai. We are elderly,... More

To start, the tour is 550 baht. That's absurdly expensive for Thailand. The dock is broken. They throw down a 2x4 for you to cross getting into the boat. The "farm" they take you to is a dirty small shack where they have some chickens and pigs in tiny cages. It's a bit depressing. Then they give you some pineapple... More

We chose this cruise for something to do for a couple of hours. It takes you to the supposedly Farmers House' well I've got a pretty good idea of what a farmers house looks like but to be honest I've seen bigger farmers houses on somebody's balcony in London. We were shown a few plants that supposedly cure every disease... More

The cruise takes about 2 hours 15 minutes. You cruise up the river & then stop & have a drink & some fruit to eat. It really is a nice way to spend a bit of time. Very scenic, very relaxing. Cost is 550b per person.

The cruise along the Ping River is very pleasant and featured an informative commentary. The farm visit was a highlight - animals and produce on display with a refreshing fruit plate. Chiang Mai offers plenty for the adrenalin-junkie but few slower-paced relaxing activities like this.

Do not waste your money on this. Forget any notions of a romantic dinner cruise. The food is terrible. Loads of vegetables in the sweet and sour but no pork or chicken in it. The spring rolls were cold. There is nothing to see. No wats or lit up monuments on the way. The trip was supposed to last 2... More

Awful trip. The dinner boat cruise lasted barely an hour - not the 90-120 minutes on the Mae Ping leaflet. We spent more time getting from the Old Town to the boat with the shuttle service provided. The food was below average, the savoury dishes were all served at the same time and were already cold when they arrived. The... More
