It is a cooperative between members of the Karen hill-tribes who are elephant care takers and Chiang Mai locals who work with tribal people and elephants for many years and concern about elephant’s health and quality of life. At Elephant Rescue National Park, the income from visits, volunteers and donations is used for elephant rescue, food, veterinary care and also management which are lunch, transportation, maintenance and staffs. We work hard to balance between offering the worthy experience to visitors and sharing love to the elephants for good health, freedom and happiness they truly deserve.

The elephants follow a schedule and they are coerced to perform tricks for the tourists. It looks like a sanctuary at first but they are actively breeding elephants when there are many elephants that need rescuing.

Unfortunately, this (and many more) elephants "sanctuaries" are just another business where the elephants are part of a schedule. The animals are NOT free to walk, eat or drink whenever they want. They follow a very strict itinerary, and if they want to do something...More

Great place to see happy and healthy elephants. I was really glad that they are against riding and chaining them-I was actually looking for rescue place for them. It's a bit expensier than other places (the ones that you can ride on elephants) but worth...More

We had a fantastic time here at the sanctuary, and it was clear to see that the keepers treat every elephant with the love care and respect he/she deserves. We did the half-day trip, and got to feed the elephants, bathe with and wash them,...More

First of all, this isn’t a national park, but rather a spot in the middle of the jungle where some elephants that used to be treated cruelly were rescued. We started our day with a two hour ride into the jungle. Once we arrived, we...More

We would recommend this Rescue park to visit. We spent a lot of time with the Elephants, and they seemed well taken care of which was important to us. We were fortunate that the Baby Elephant was there when we were so it was great...More

My young-adult son and I visited these elephants while spending a few days in Chiang Mai. This was one of the coolest things I have ever done, and I have traveled quite a bit. Granted, I am an animal lover, but start to finish, this...More
