The site is about 30 minutes drive from Chiang Mai. There is a shop and a small museum as well as an area where you can paint a small plaster elephant. There some books to act as inspiration and the lady in the shop will help with some technique but it is best to go with an idea or plan of what you want to paint as inspiration may not come on the day.…

Our trip to Elephant parade land was an enjoyable one. We arrived at 3.30pm which gave us just enough time to have a tour of the museum and paint our elephant. If you aren’t going to paint an elephant it’s probably not worth the visit due to the distance from the city, and the museum consists of one room and a 5 minute video. Once our elephant was completed we had a tour of how the professionals paint the elephants (I’m not expecting any job offers any time soon). …

During our recent trip to Chiang Mai, we stumbled upon the boutique Elephant Parade....As we were just beginning our trip, we hesitated in buying one, in fear of it breaking during the following weeks. My husband and I always bring back a piece of art that touches us emotionally and helps us remember the good souvenir. Once we got to Bangok, we discovered the boutique, and without hesitation chose a beautiful elephant to remember us of our incredible time at the elephant sanctuary we had visited. The fact that our gift to us was also a gift forward was a huge influencer for us and we have now become defenders of friends going to Thailand and recommending good sanctuaries that really take care of these incredible animals. Elephant Parades are everywhere in Thailand but this one has a museum, workshop and shop. Displayed outside are large elephants painted by different artists and celebrities. Inside you can either paint your own smaller elephant or buy a replica from the collection and 20% goes towards elephant welfare and conservation. I have two elephants now and love them. This is worth a visit.…
