My husband and I are on our honeymoon and we’ve been looking forward to this cooking school experience! We did a lot of research amongst the various cooking schools and what we liked about this one was an option of going to the farm to learn about the different ingredients used for the dishes.
Indy, our cooking instructor for the day, was very helpful, informative, and funny! She has been teaching for eight years with the company and knows what classical Thai cooking is all about. She answered all of our questions and also added information of common things she gets asked from previous classes.
We were picked up from our hotel and checked into the city location for payment. (1200 Baht per person full day at the farm) We then went on a little tour in the market explaining the different products then a 30-35 minute drive to the farm. The farm location was much bigger than the city location! Much roomier and very beautiful!!!! (Plus free WiFi!)
We chose the seven dishes we were going to make for the day, took a tour in the garden and learned about the different items for our dishes. You will definitely be stuffed at the end of the day! Due to the coronavirus, we were the only students for the day. It was nice to have a private class for the day that we ended a bit earlier (which we didn’t mind since we were so tired after eating all of the yummy food we made!) Indy, did a little recap of the day and gave us a wonderful cool book of everything she talked about for the day. It is a wonderful memento!
Thank you, Indy for such a wonderful experience and it was definitely one of our favorite things to do in Chiang Mai! Thank you Asia Scenic Thai Cooking School for being open during the coronavirus so we can still experience Chiang Mai and Thai cooking!
If you’re wondering what kind of cooking school to sign up with, we highly recommend Asia Scenic Thai Cooking school! An unforgettable experience leaving your stomach happy!

Fantastic experience. Our teacher Noon was very knowledgable, and took the time to describe each step of the cooking along with information about Thai culture. She was also very playful and kept the class lively, even though there was only 3 of us for the evening class. The other staff were also brilliant at clearing away chopping boards, dishes, utensils and woks in between courses (we cooked 5 dishes in total), and magically setting up the next set of cooking tools and ingredients. Very good value course and would recommend anyone interested in thai food to go.

We are a family with three teenage children and did an afternoon cooking class at Asia Scenic Cooking School. It was a highly enjoyable and fun afternoon, even our teenagers got into the cooking and sampling of new dishes. Katty was a brilliant class leader and managed the group seamlessly, despite people choosing different options from the list of meals to cook. She was very funny and her assistant, Fang, was charming and helpful. We went to their herb garden and even to the nearby market with them, which was informative and fun. The dishes were all delicious and we were all very full by the end of the evening. The cooking class was one of the highlights of our trip and we highly recommend it.

Our host was an enthusiastic and passionate cook and this spark jumped over from the first moment. We were together shopping and in the garden and she explained a lot about the ingredients and the cuisine of Thailand. I got also many tips for the kitchen in general, e.g. how to easily (and magically) get rid of the garlic smell on my hands. We did not only cook, but also made the food appear beautiful on the dishes. We worked with flowers for decoration. Our host and the team did everything so that we had a great time. The atmosphere with the other participants was awesome, funny and easy. Ahh, and the result was so delicious (Aroi mak mak). I am very grateful for this day.

Gay’s establishment is 5 stars for a reason. Everyone working there was lovely, I have a cooking background but learnt a lot about Thai cooking technique and ingredients. Fantastic for amateurs and pro’s alike. Hopefully my wife can start cooking me Thai food on a daily basis.
Also the best value package I have seen anywhere in Thailand. Glad we waited for Scenic Cooking School

Thank you for a wonderful day of learning the ingredients and techniques of cooking Thai cuisine. The format for the class was excellent, providing an opportunity to cook (and eat) 5 dishes. Our instructor Da, guided us skillfully and demonstrated the techniques to prepare and enjoy our dishes. Pay the extra few bhat for the full day course and go out to the farm! The drive to the market and the farm enhanced the experience. All of the Asia Scenic instructors and provided excellent instruction in English.

Asia Scenic Thai cooking school is a great experience. They teach you about the natural ingredients, which comes from their own garden, the different levels of spiciness and what meats go best with each meal l, oh and how to eat the dish. It was such a great experience in the way in with they set up the environment, making it welcoming and inviting for everyone to interact naturally and organically. Our instructor Da was kind and helpful.

Absolutely fantastic experience. We were collected on time and taken to a market used by the local Thai people. Here, our cooking instructor Da, took us around and explained about the various types of rice, noodles, produce and seasonings that we would be using in the class. We also had a short time to have a wander and ask questions. When we arrived at the farm, Da explained each menu option and we we each selected our dishes. We did the half day option, so only made 5 dishes. The garden is beautiful. Plenty of plants, paths, swinging hammocks, geese and more. Da walked us around the garden and explained about the herbs and seasonings that were growing and commonly used in Thai coming. She was great at giving us samples to smell or eat and answer our questions. The cooking part was extremely well organised and run at a good pace. My 10 and 15 year old girls had their own wok and cooking station and had plenty of help from Da, so they knew what to do. There was a 30 minute break to let the first two courses settle and have a wander around the garden and relax in the hammocks. The food was delicious and Da’s instruction was superb. At the end we were given a cookbook that included the recipes for all the dishes on the menu, plus useful pictures and info about herbs and seasonings. Da also gave us options for when we returned to our home country and it won’t be practical to use the authentic thing (eg because it need to boil for 5 hours to prepare it). I highly recommend this cooking course.

My husband and I tried this class based on the recommendations from another couple we met while Kayaking.
Indy was our teacher and she was so fun. She kept us laughing and engaged. She was really good about answering questions and helping everyone stay on track and getting done together.
We also really appreciated the fact that it was simple and straight forward. Not too many ingredients or instructions so it will be easy to replicate back home.
They were also super accommodating to everyone's food allergies, sensitivities, and preferences. From vegan to shell fish allergies they were able to switch it up and keep it tasting great.

I'm late to share but my partner and I LOVED this cooking class! We did the half day class back in January and we felt like it was perfect. The class was intimate, our instructor and aide were informative and funny, and we got to choose our own dish to make in each category and then eat it too. I highly recommend doing the class at the farm because they give you a tour of the things they grow to use in the cooking, on top of a tour at a local market.
On an even better note, I took what I learned (and the Asia Scenic cookbook) to make Pad Thai on my own at home! It was a success if I do say so myself.

They’re very accommodating, so I don’t think you’ll have any problems. The dishes I made in the 1/2 day class didn’t contain any dairy - although make sure to ask for eggless tofu (white not yellow) if you don’t eat meat. I don’t think there was any gluten either as they use rice noodles but you’d need to ask them. There may be dairy or gluten in the spring roll wrappers as they’re store bought but you could just skip them.

Hi Laura, there was no dairy in the class as we cooked with homegrown veggies and herbs . There should gluten in the spring roll dough but it's up to you and you can choose not to add prawns or chicken if there is gluten in them.

I need advice on choosing a half day or full day at the cooking school. I'd prefer a full day because I love to cook, but my companion probably wouldn't. I could make her do it LOL, but wondering about the major differences before I do.

Full day was definitely worth it. We went to the farm and the amount of food you make definitely requires a bit of relaxation to let the stomach rest. I also think the full day class lets you get to know the rest of your group on a much more personal level. You don't feel rushed and the food is all amazing. Well organized class, so the amount of time you are away from the city doesn't really seem too long.
