Doi Suthep Temple: Amazing Mountaintop Sunrise Tour and Stunning City Views

182 reviews
See the gleaming golden spire and elaborate sculptures of Wat Phra That Doi Suthep in peace and quiet on this serene sunrise tour. Watch the light spill across northern Thailand from one of the region’s highest points, and witness a morning alms-giving ceremony that most visitors miss. Your guide is a former monk, so you'll get first-hand insight into temple life and the Buddhist faith. A delicious Thai breakfast is also included.

Enter the museum and behold: 2 floors packed with specimens and curiosities that you’ll never see anywhere else in the world. This museum has something for everyone: six+ toed chicken feet, the celebration of scientist’s life work, a mosquito embroidered shirt, art, elephant dung, poetry, and rocks galore. The museum also chronicles Dr Rampa and Manop’s study and categorization of Thailand’s 450 individual mosquito species and their impact to human health. However, mosquitos are just a fraction of what you’ll discover inside this magnificent menagerie and homage to the natural world. Well worth the entry fee for an hour to observe this amazing, mosquito-power couple’s collection.

This museum IS open in the location indicated, it just appears closed unless you stand around waiting at the locked gate long enough for the lady working there to be bothered to show up. She's not very friendly. As for the exhibit, I don't get the lavish praise from a lot of other reviewers. If you you've ever been to a museum before, you gotta say this one is pretty small. Sure, 200 baht each is not a lot of money but, for what you're getting, it's not a bargain. I guess it may be worth a visit when you're exploring the Nimman area (which you should) - if they deign to let you in.

I’ve lived in the Nimman area for more than four years, and the museum has never been open at this location. They’ve moved out to the Samoeng Loop, a few kms out of Mae Rim, and it’s certainly worth a visit that there, if you have transport.

My brother and I really enjoyed this hole in the wall museum. We had the run of the place and it has a lot of great mounted insects from Thailand and around the world. The variety is impressive. Great place to spend some time wondering at the variety of our multi-legged cousins.
