Authentic Muay Thai boxing training
Nov 2019
I was on vacation in Chiang Mai when I happened to find this gym near my hotel. It exceeded my expectations in every regard! Great trainers who will push you and joke with you. They will tailor their training based on your experience. Relaxed yet serious training with a great couple of guys. Highly recommend not only doing the group training but also a private lesson with Kru Sith. Can't wait to come back!

Good place

Good place to practise muay thai in Chiang Mai, kru sith is very good. Went in lowseason, think its more suited for beginner since groups were small and no fighters or thai people came to training.

I spent one week at Silaphai and learnt a lot even though i was already doing muay thai in France!
The coaches really take the time to correct you and i really appreciated!
I brought with me my mother who can’t speak English and they were all very careful with her especially when we all went to the stadium for muay thai fights, we had so much fun!
My only regret is that i only stayed one week, but I’ll be back for sure!
Thanks again to the Silsphai team!!

My son Olly and I took a 1.5 hour private lesson, which was really memorable. Olly is 15 and experienced at karate, I'm 60, and had a bit of regular boxing training about 20 years ago.

But none of this mattered in the slightest, as Muay Thai is very different to both disciplines. All you need to enjoy this is be reasonably fit.

We were both expertly bandaged, warmed up, and then taken through the moves.

Our trainer was skilful, highly attentive and very encouraging. His English was limited, but given that 'jab, cross, hook, uppercut, kick, knee and elbow' is all that's really required, it made the experience seem all the more authentic.

After we got some kind of grip on the basics we then got into the ring in turns. While our trainer worked one of us on the pads, the other was practising on the bag next to the ring. So we each ended up with three rounds of what felt like a real, up-close experience of this incredible martial art.

Gym was clean, kit was decent and transfers were quick and painless.

Cost was 900B each, which given the high level of personal attention was good value. Highly recommended.

I did a week training, class was twice a day. The trainers were the best. I learnt a lot in the small time i was there. We trained hard but also had a lot of laughs and fun times. My best experience in Thailand! Nice opened air gym, prepare to sweat a lot! Will be back for sure! Miss you guys

Enjoy the authentic Muay Thai experience and welcome to the family!

Traveling solo and coming from zero training background of any sport, the one month commitment to Muay Thai was a huge challenge. However, Por Silaphai Gym was the kind of gym where a month of training would leave you wanting for more. I initially came to train for a month but ended up staying for 2. This still wasn’t enough because every single training sessions left you with some areas to work on and the gym has grown to be my family.

The trainers are very observant, each of them would pick up on different aspects of Muay Thai (technical and mental) and help you work through them everyday. They stressed the mentality of a Muay Thai fighter, guard up, eyes open, move forward and to be FEARLESS. If you want a more in depth technical training, I highly recommend taking private lessons with a trainer of your choice.

A round of pad work during the group training with Khruu Sit will make you realize every move that you’ve been doing wrong. This is overwhelming at first but it is what makes this gym great, because Khruu Sit would not miss them. A simple twist, footwork or guard he focuses on makes all the difference to your Muay Thai. He would break down the techniques in detail and also explain why we need to move in a certain way. The reasons he gave us were logical, considering the opponents moves.
He focused on the importance of making planned, calculative attacks. These are all technical details that would save you and add more power to your Muay Thai. It was an honor to be learning from Khruu Sit and his team.

The trainers here makes everyone feel welcomed. The trainers here have strong family like bond and happily lets us be a part of them. Khruu Sit will remind us that we are a family even within during our group trainings, motivating us even more. What seemed to be the key to have a successful Muay Thai training here was to be open minded, the people who improved drastically were the ones that can respect the traditions of Muay Thai and the trainers and to realize it is completely different to boxing. Students must have the willingness to listen, observe and learn from the trainers who have had years of experience training and fighting in Thailand since they were young. Por Silaphai Gym wants us to “feel” and “understand” Muay Thai.

Considering the quality or the training, the experienced trainers, the atmosphere and the convenient location of the gym and accommodation, the training here was definitely worth it. And you sure will be well looked after as well! I learnt a lot about myself and was able to push myself to be better and stronger.

Thank you for teaching us the Art of Muay Thai and for all the wisdom that comes with the years of fighting experience. Will be back in 5 months!

A real Muay Thai Boxing Experience - Try it and feel it!
Mar 2018 • Solo
I trained 2 weeks in the por silaphai Gym and and during this time I also lived in their accomadation. The accomadation is 2 or 3 minutes from the Gym away - that is really great. It was the first time for me to try material art, i never tried before, so I was really nervos. Nevertheless the nervosität was as soon over as I arrived there because the trainer were so friendly and the also showed you everything step by step. The training is really intense and tough (just the first day when the show you everything is a little bit relaxed (;) but that's why you learn the most in a short time. What I really love at the Gym is that you come here and your not just a number who train here and bring money - you are a student who wants to learn about muay thai training and if you want you can always hang out with the trainers after the boxing. It feels there like home like family - in my opinion I don't think that there is a better place to experience muay thai boxing! The Gym is an outdoor Gym and the Trainers are really authentic and the not only want that you know how to box,, they also want that you understand muay thai boxing!
I also made there really good friends!
I really love this place and I just can recommend this place for everyone - it doesn't matter for how long.
If you are in Chiang mai this is the place to be!

Awesome teachers and wonderful training
Jun 2018 • Solo
The 3 weeks I trained here were amazing. The trainers treated me like family. They genuinely cared about my progress and helped me when I got hurt or got sore. They not only taught me about Muay Thai but they shared their culture with me, including their food, normal day to day practices and culture in Muay Thai as a sport. Amazing experience and I would recommend it to anyone. This is a great place for beginners and people who have trained before. The trainers teach each person as an individual and at that persons skill level. I loved my time here and would love to come back!
