Thai architecture and culture in a day
A huge park with miniature landmarks and architecture of all the regions of Thailand. With the admission fee, you can add either bicycle rental, golf card rental, or a permit for your own car. You can also add headphones and audio rental as well. The place is beautifully kept, with clean coffeeshops and bathrooms, and a few shops selling souvenirs. We ended up buying most of our gifts for friends and family here!

    You could spend days here.
It's a cultural park highlighting architecture of various regions and historic periods of Thailand (Siam). The admission fee I paid included bicycle rental and headphones for an audio guided tour in English. I totally enjoyed my visit.

Wonderful - such a variety of temples and monumets its a great place.
This is somwhere people don't talk about enough. Such a fantastic place and great if you are short on time and want to see some of the temples. Don't be fooled - they might say minature but they are far from small! We rented a golf buggy (highly recommend doing as there is 300 acres to cover) and far too hot in the sun which just added to the experience.

    Good pace to cycle around
A very large park containing replicas of many Thai historic buildings from across the land. The entrance fee includes bike rental and the park is designed to be viewed by bike or shared ride. Too large an area to walk. Be careful where you leave your bike when entering a building as ours were taken by, I assume, other tourists. There is no cost involved as the bikes can not be taken out of the park. It did mean we had to return to the entrance to get new bikes. A good place for cycling, particularly with kids.

    good but mostly bad
some parts were well maintained and some parts had the feeling of old collapsed communism city that have fallen into disrepair. one of the items that is a must see is nothing like the photos you see it is in disrepair yet still being built. prices are high for the quality. map is confusing and not very good. they also need to really enforce and pay attention to vehicles speeding. we were almost taken out by two trucks doing highway speeds in the park.

Shameful treatment of elephants, otherwise OK
This park features replicas of important buildings and temples in Thailand. The park wasn't busy, you can ride around on bikes or golf carts. Some of the buildings are nice and the areas well kept, others are crumbling, unkempt and dated looking. Generally the park is OK, but in need of TLC. The 2 chained elephants though are a different matter altogether. Both of these beautiful creatures are chained to posts, with a maximum of a meter to move. Standing in the same spot for the entire day. How this can be an attraction or even allowed in this day and age is quite unbelievable. Shame on the people who are responsible for running this park! The poor mistreated animals. Disgusting!!

Barely acceptable, equally good and bad sites.
The sites are decent, but they rip you off like people selling watches on the streets of Bangkok. If you wish to rent a golf cart for travel, they will barely have any of the "cheap" 2 seat versions, forcing you to use the x2 price per hour 4 seater. Even if they clearly have more 2 seaters in the garage. Do yourself a favor, use the free tour busses and walk instead if you wish to stay longer. Also alot of trash, the water/river/ponds are rancid and stale and smell accordingly. Also several places still under construction. At the very least, it has a few interesting and beautiful places.

Amazing Thai Ancient City near Bangkok
The ancient City is located on the outskirts of Bangkok. It is an enormous park of over 800 rai and we rented bicycles to tour the areas. Many old temples and interesting Thai buildings created over 70 years ago.

Would be an amazing attraction if it weren't for the elephant rides
This was a really fun and interesting day out, only ruined by driving passed elephants for riding! We were really enjoying the trip and didn't know they offered this until we passed them chained up on our way out, which was very sad to see from somewhere I would have otherwise so highly recommended to anyone visiting Bangkok. I would have scored a 5 if it weren't for this 'attraction' and it should definitely be taken away from this site. It would also have been better if there were more two seater golf buggies so we, as a group of two, didn't have a to pay double to rent a four person one.

    Amazing place
This place is amazing and seems to be a bit of an un-shared gem. It's a huge area of beautiful replica buildings and locations around Thailand, all in one place. Make sure you have about 4 to 6 hours to fully appreciate the place. They have places to buy snacks and drinks. You can hire a golf buggy, electric bikes, pedal bikes, jump on a tram or just walk around (if you have the time and energy). You will not be disappointed by this place. For any James Bond fans, you can find the dojo used in the film 'The man with the golden gun'

The is okay, a lot of work going on, but it’s tarnished by a bunch of elephants having their front legs tightly chained, bouncing constantly and showing obvious signs of stresses. Very sad, especially for the youngest one who was still a baby. Definitely doesn’t worth spending an afternoon there. 😢

The ancient city is a beautiful place. It is full of wonderful architecture and you could spend a whole day exploring the site. Bike hire is included in the ticket price which is a great way to get around in the sunshine. Shops and toilets are everywhere and is very convenient.

The wonderful views were ruined when we found an elephant house, with 5 elephants on incredibly short chains kept in a tiny area. Some elephants had been broken in to be ridden. This is no way to keep elephants, and put a huge dampener on our visit.

Wouldn't revisit unless the elephants were kept and treated with the respect they deserve. A distasteful way to make money.

Getting there: so easy with the new BTS extension!

Take the BTS - Sukhumvit line - to the last stop, Kheha. This took me 45 minutes from Siam out of peak time. Exit the station at exit 3 and at the bottom of the stairs catch the songthaew #36. It costs 10 baht and takes 4-5 minutes to get to the Ancient City. (Thank you to KathrynandDavid for these excellent directions - I was loving you!)

Later when you leave the Ancient City turn left, walk down to the bridge, and catch it on the other side of the road back to the BTS.

Price: 700 baht which includes an audio guide, the use of a bicycle and a two-hour tram tour. It’s absolutely worth it and totally in line with international standards. Even cheap compared to what I’ve paid in some counties for a lot less ‘value’.

If you are on a budget it is half price from 4:00pm to 7:00pm. There is a tram tour that departs at 5:00pm so you can still see a lot.

The tram tour: it doesn’t depart from the ticket office. A golf cart will whisk you a 3 minute drive to the start point but factor that in to your timing. There are four stops (about 20 minutes each) and it loops through the whole property. I would recommend doing the tram tour first and then cycling around to spend more time at the places that caught your eye but where the tram does not stop. The guide speaks mainly Thai but remember you have the audio guide so it’s fine.

Tour times:
10-12
13-15
15-17
17-19

The audio guide: check it at the counter! Is the battery full, can you hear properly or is the headphone cable dodgy. I went through three.

What are you seeing as you meander through this beautiful property with birds singing and trees rustling in the breeze?

Original Thai architectural treasures that have been relocated to the Ancient City. Maybe 5% of what there is to see.

Recreations of buildings that no longer exist. Ayutthaya was destroyed in 1767 so I was thrilled to see a reproduction temple in the Ayutthaya style. Huge amounts of research went into this - not to mention money - so that we can appreciate what a temple would have looked like in the previous capital.

Reproductions of existing buildings in Thailand that have a huge spiritual significance. Also, amazing to see and appreciate.

I spent about five hours there in total and enjoyed every minute!
