Neighborhood: Sathorn
Sathorn is Bangkok’s central business district, but here you’ll find much more than international banks and suited-up office workers. Take a stroll along the small alleys between the skyscrapers and you’ll find yourself among Bangkokians living life at a much slower pace. Feast on fantastic Thai food which you can find in the town-house restaurants, office food courts and sidewalk food stalls spread all over the area, especially around St. Louis Hospital. A visit to Sathorn is not complete without a drink at one of the glitzy sky bars perched atop its skyscrapers.

Locked and guarded. Don't waste your time.

I went on the off chance there was a way in, but the restaurants on either side of the entrance are using the dead space before you come to the bolted door. There is a guard sitting on a chair in the adjoining alley to the left when facing building. There are no tours offered.

Able to get to the first floor, but to two stairways both have doors which are both renewed recently, so basically someone needs to drill a hole like last door had one.

Trip advisor should remove
Jan 2020 • Solo
Well I read the previous reviews, but since my hostel was literally a 2 minute scooter ride away, thought I would would check it out.

It is not a thing anymore. In fact, its even updated from the last review. There is no security guard now. No drug addict, no door with 3 padlocks. The whole area is completely sealed off with a sign saying trespassers will be shot. No photos, no videos, no people. The banners looked very new. The only entrance to the compound was sealed off by an 8 foot wall with barbed wire.

Its not possible to enter the area now, let alone the building.

Waste of Time
Nov 2019
Came here in late November after I saw some friends post pictures up there. There is a homeless drug addict living at the 1st floor and he tried scamming us by telling us that the guards were coming and would need 500 Baht per person. Everyone in the group said no and that we wanted to see him open the welded shut door before we even gave him a bribe. Long story short, he kept telling us to wait until the guards with the key showed up for about 2 hours before we decided this was a wasted effort and left. I know it used to be possible to get up there as recently as last March, but it appears that with the rising popularity of the rooftop has made it much more difficult for Westerners to access. Unless you know for a fact a guard will let you through, don't even bother.

*DON'T BOTHER*
Dec 2019
Just tried yesterday (Dec 2019). Snuck into the building but found both doors completely closed; one welded shut and the other has three different padlocks on it.
There is a guy living there but he doesn't speak any English, tried to scam me for 5000 Baht (yes, 5K!) to get up there when he clearly wouldn't have all three keys.
The building is being used for a giant advert (latest iPhone in this case) so someone clearly owns it and is profiting, so they'll have the key.
Save yourself the trouble and go check out all the other cool weird stuff like the penis shrine and husky cafe!

Cannot enter anymore, guard doesn't have the keys
Nov 2019 • Friends
As of November 2019, going up seems impossible. I've been there 2 times so far, and the "guard", who is just a drug addict, pretends that he will open the door for you after you pay, but is actually planning to scam you. He asks for money first and refuses to even show that he can open the door to the staircase unless you give him the money. Other reviews here said that he gives a fake key and runs away. So we didn't take our chances. Beware!

Scam operation. TripAdvisor should take this down.

Waited all day. Guy sign languages to come back later. Went back. Group of 9 people at the gate. Eventually got let in the fence. He takes the cash and leaves (suspiciously). You’re in. BUT the stairways are locked locked with three heavy padlocks.. and he gave you no keys. In 20 min the police come. Everyone scrambles. Shortly after, they leave so you can run back. Only way to get to 2nd floor is to scale 3in-long, 3/8” diameter rebars sticking out of the concrete on the far side of the building. Unless you have the physical ability to do this... its not possible to get up there. And if you do, it is certainly not safe. As for getting down, very luckily, found a long electrical cord on the 3rd floor and rappelled down the elevator shaft. Otherwise, its a 30ft high ceiling-jump onto concrete littered with glass and metal. The police and neighbors have clearly gotten very salty. It would appear the good times are over.. But nothing is impossible.

Apparently another time I’ll go upstairs
Mar 2019
I was in Bangkok in the month of February 2019 and could not get into the Tower. It seemed to me that the guards at the gates to the stairs were alarmed by something, as if before that one of the tourists had misplaced. The tower is a good reason to return to Thailand.

Locked out
Oct 2019 • Friends
Dude took our 500TB and left us with keys which didn’t open the stairway lock...
A few of us transcended to the second floor to bypass the locked door to the stairway a “non traditional way” (metal reo sticking out of the concrete on the far wall) we lowered a rope for the remaining adventurers, but by then a local had called police (the guy who owns a shop on the main road with a back door opening to the tower, he stuck his head out his back door looking our way on a phone, about the third shop from the lane way) and police arrived on motorbike smack on 5pm... not sure if this was a planned scam or we simply didn’t understand instructions, either way the “security guy” walked away with 4000TB and none of our 4pm crew were able to make it to the top🙈👮‍♀️
If you go and pay, ensure you get up the stairs before giving money, maybe be also get out by 5pm? Well worth the effort if you’re able to get up! Good luck, may the force be always with you!

Creepy, exciting, probably not leagal
Aug 2019
I did a lot of reading about this place. It doesn't seem legal, but it seems like a group of people have figured they could monetize this urban exploration site. I went around 5PM, and I have to say, going alone is SUPER creepy. at one point, I had to use the light from my phone to climb the stairwell, and I actually scared myself with the shadows the light produced in the pitch black stairwell. The view from the top (which is some 40 something flights of stairs) is incredible. The steps are not always completely formed and kinda worn down, which makes it a little treacherous to climb, as well as the fact that it's exhausting to walk up all those flights of stairs. The graffiti is a little off putting, just knowing people thought it would be fun or cool to leave their mark on the site, but getting past that it was a lot of fun to explore. It costs about 500 bhat to pay off the people to let you in, and it is a bit thrilling; just be safe if you go to check it out and the people actually let you in.
