We had a super fun night here seeing improv comedy! The atmosphere is very laid back and fun, and the location is super central near Phrom Pong BTS. The club is located above the Royal Oak Pub so we could have a drink in the bar before and after the show (but they also serve drinks in the comedy club as well). The show was great and very funny!

I was in Bangkok and was lucky enough to catch the Magners Comedy Competition. The crowd at CCB is so lively and into the show, and the comedians and host were hilarious. Can't wait to be back!

Hidden away in the attic of the Royal Oak on Soi 33/1 (not 33). There is a great atmosphere and live comedy EVERY Friday. Well worth the entry fee. Bit more expensive on the door so advance tickets are good to get from the bar staff downstairs.

This was my second visit to Open Mic/Stand-Up Night at The Bangkok Comedy Club in recent months. For a performance art, still in its relative infancy (for this city), and one, not without teething problems over the years, it is reassuring to report that "the child has legs".

The format of an evening in 2 halves, peppered by first-time, have-a-go-wannabes, and aspiring local (Thai or expat) stand-ups, but significantly, headed by seasoned, "international" comedians works.

Presentation is tight.

Boyish, musclebound host, Chris Wegoda knows how to work the charm, and with his Thai/Chinese girlfriend Natty, constantly challenging his sexual ambiguity, this makes for an endearing, running joke. Since, Natty is as funny, often more so, than any of her male counterparts, the inclusion of her set is refreshing, and never smacks of the nepotism that often comprises couples working in the same field.

Another neat touch (I don't think this was a coincidence), was that the novices closed their set promptly, at the precise moment they had finished their material, dried up, or run out of anything funny to say. Thankfully, the grown-up, ticketed audience, were spared those tedious periods, that demand sympathetic applause for another failed, but well-meaning English teacher.

Whatever your nationality, gender, sexual inclination etc., few are spared the well-intentioned insults, random musings of perverse/scatological behaviour, and the customary vocabulary, associated with "cutting edge" humour.

I appreciated the buzz of anticipation as the auditorium filled up, but my only gripe is that the Show could have started closer to advertised time.

Apart from that, "Thank Satan for Friday Night!"

It had attended many shows and taken several workshops with the bangkok comedy club since they opened up in the city. The initial show I had the pleasure to be at was so fun and filled with great acts that made me very interested to take their workshops. I enjoy both improv and stand up styles. Also they work hard to bring talents from everywhere and for local talents that are growing and progressing each time. Very happy to see such creative and lively venue available in my best city of Bangkok. Artistic impression and plays with much Laughters to share and spread are great value for your money and time to give yourselves and loved ones a chance to enjoy. I definitely will return for more and more laughs.

It was a really good night, and the organisation was very professional. They have a variety of nights, and the one I attended was based on improv. They also have nice lineups of local or international comedians.

I recommend it for a night out.

Comedy is about the joke, the joke teller and environment of the joke telling. The Comedy Club nails it on two of the three. Great jokes told by great joke tellers but a joke of a venue. What I mean is I laughed out-loud and enjoyed myself but the venue is a tough place to enjoy yourself. It is a boarder-line death trap with a lot of people crammed into a small place with a narrow stairway the only exit. I joked to the person next to me - "pray that the next act does not involve of comedy bit including a flare or fire juggling". It is also impossible to get a drink mid show without becoming part of the show as standing up puts you in the middle of everyone's gaze. Finally there are few support poles/columns which (in addition to holding up the roof) block certain seats from a view of the stage. That all said, I laughed (and survived), so we'll call that a win.

For the big acts - get tickets in advance

Almost a year ago I went to see their grand opening above the royal oak and I really saw they had potential. Now, more than a year later, this event has really come into its own. After working all day on Friday it's a great way to relax and forget about the woes of the week. The venue is above cute bar tucked away just a minutes walk from Phrom Pong station. There's probably no more than 60 or so seats which makes it feel more intimate and a stage no more than 5 x 5 wide but the presenters make the most of it with their whit and humour they send you away to laughter land. You can purchase tickets online for a reduced price or at the door for full price but you get a beer with both tickets. There are sometimes give aways at the end. I ended up with two free tickets to the next week show which ensures that I will be going! I would recommend this to anyone who likes comedy and wants to support the local English speaking scene and for 7-9 bucks you can't really go wrong.

I'm from Chennai, India and been here couple of times..Great place to enjoy comedy with some food & drinks downstairs. If you are in Bangkok don't miss this place. They have INTERNATIONAL headliners coming at least once a month and on other nights the line up is really good..
