My experiences of travel to Ko Chang via the airport a/c bus have been OK, at 900b including bus, ferry and songtaew to the hotel it has to be a bargain. The timings; leave the airport at 7.50, there are other leaving times, and arrive at mainland ferry port around 5 hours later, including 25 min stop at overpriced and inadequate stop over "restaurant". Ferry across; a wait of approximately 20 mins then 35 mins over. Songtaew to the hotel depends on where you are going but in my case 20 mins to Klong Prao, total travel time 6 hours 15 mins. Return about the same. Never been on the plane but I think it probably matches it bearing in mind check-in times and taxi from Trat to the ferry, also much more expensive.

very long trip

We took this bus and tht happened.
For a departure on April 30th, all travel agents told me the Burapha Bus was going to be a 11:20 pick up from my guesthouse in Klong Prao and the travel to the airport would last 8 hours. I couldnt understand why it should be so long and argued and tried to book the other bus for 13:30 departure, but impossible, they told me that it didnt run and this was the only option. No minivan service could be booked on that day for some strange reason.

On the day of departure, a taxi (minivan) showed up to pick us up at 11:00 sharp, we had to hurry to close our suitcases. We made a short stop at Klong son to check our tickets and were brought to the pier;

On the way to the pier we saw over 200 cars lining up to take the ferry, so finally we were almost happy to discover that the taxi was not going onto the ferry but we had to shlep our suitcases and take it as individual passengers (were given tickets and stickers).

Arriving on the other side at 12:30, we were told to wait there until the Burapha airport express bus arrives at 13:30 ! So another wait.

The good thing is there was a decent waiting area with food stalls and a few Tshirt stores that kept us busy.

The bus arrived (from the airport) at 13:30 .... ahah but first the driver had to rest and eat.
So we left around 14:00

The road was quite busy and it took forever, The driver made another 35 minutes stop at an overpriced restaurant on the road. Nobody bought anything because it was a rip off.

And we drove and drove in the trafic getting close to the capital and we finally arrived at BKK airport shortly before 20:00 ! Having left at 11:00 that was a 9 hours trip !
Total driving time from the guesthouse to Suvarnabhumi: from 11:00 to 20:00 !!!!!
Never again !

Best way to Koh Chang.

Integrated travel from the airport, ferry and delivered to your hotel on the island. 900b gets you a return ticket; the only extra cost is a small charge on the return trip of 50 -100b for the van to collect you from the hotel and take you to the ferry. Tickets are from a stand at the hotel, no online, unfortunately. Approximate 5hour on the air-conditioned coach, wait for the ferry, half an hour crossing then a van to your hotel, depending on where this can add another hour but if Whitesand it is around 20mins. Great value for this very efficient service

Book your ticket at the desk near gate eight at Suvarnabhumi Airport. 900b (approx £20GBP), gets you a seat on the 5.5-hour ride and includes a ferry ticket for the 30 min crossing and also includes a minivan to your hotel/resort once on Ko Chang. There is a small extra cost if your resort is at the other end of the island. The price also includes a collection from your hotel on the return leg, ring them or get your hotel staff to ring 48 hours before you return, at the expense of 100b - 50b depending on location, a free ferry ticket and a seat on the return coach are all included in the 900b. Fantastic value, excellent driver and so well organised. A safe and comfortable way to get to Ko Chang from Suvarnabhumi Airport.

They advertised that minibus take us from the airport to the hotel and from the hotel back to the airport without transfer the car at the ferry. I paid at the airport for 2 way for minibus service, I assume that they should offer me 2 ways ticket by minibus for both round. However, when I called the number in the ticket to book for the return trip, they told me that I need to pay 300 Baht more in order to have pick-up from the hotel. Otherwise, they will not pick-up. I paid, I was not happy but still accepted.

The price for big bus is cheaper than minibus, I paid 900 bath for the mini bus round trip and they use big bus in stead of minibus on my way back from Koh Chang to the airport without telling me before. I expected to put my luggage to the minibus and they will take me to the airport together with my luggage. However, I had to carry my big luggage to the ferry and carry it to a mini car and then carry it again from the mini car to a big bus. I consider it as cheating.

The behavior of the driver and the receptionist at Koh Chang is very very rude. They treated you like you are using their service for free as a charity. When I complained on why they committed for the minibus at the time I booked but they offer my the big bus instead, the receptionist at Koh Chang shouted at me.
