Address
Neighborhood: Silom
Despite the lack of any major tourist attractions, this lively neighborhood is a favorite of many. Whether it's the (somewhat naughty) nightlife of Soi Patpong, the various handicraft night markets or the plethora of dining options that tickle your fancy, a night out in Silom is a must on every itinerary. It's worth a stop during daytime, too: join office workers on a quest to tasty street food during lunch and shop at Silom Complex for a great mix of Thai and international stores. After a day of strolling around the congested sidewalks, a visit to Silom's Lumphini Park, Bangkok's answer to NYC's Central Park, is a welcome change of scenery.

Small, uncomfortable & expensive.

Crowded small place with weak uncomfortable bar stools. Not a place to get together with more than 4 friends. Music was ok, nothing special.

I visited Soul Bar tucked away in a corner of Bangkok near Chinatown recently. A friend was playing there. The place is small but a good vibe and the band was good as ever! It is a little pricey. 320 Baht for a gin and tonic and beer is pricey too. But the band is free and the place is small. Worth a visit and check who is playing in advance.

Watch your money
Sep 2017 • Couples
We were trying out Soul Bar as a place to bring small groups of travelers-looking for the "off the beaten path" spots in Bangkok

Started off fine - small and cozy venue, passable live music, up and coming neighbourhood but it ended on a sour note when paying for drinks. They massively short changed us and claimed we hadn't given them - you get the picture . Rude Barmen who argued - we left our drinks and exited never to go back, never to take our tour groups or guests

Suffice it to say with the many wonderful and quirky venues in Bangkok we won't be back to soul bar. NEVER. We recommend you give it a miss, but if you do go, watch your money as the barmen are robbers

No soul !
May 2017 • Couples
We arrive in this place at 8.00pm, hard to find, it was so quiet. The gig did start at 9.45 which is pretty late to wait with really expensive cocktails and food. Out of price for this bar with no soul just hard chairs and nothing else, no ambiance. To let you know that the beer is double price from other place, if not more. Don't waste time going there, but check out the blues bar 13th st.

Waste of time

I went to this bar based on the reviews which I think are exaggerated because it was not consistent with my visit. Small bar with small wooden stools for seats and small wooden tables, too uncomfortable to stand or sit. Beer is double the price and some drinks are $9, totally out of context even if there's music, which there was not when I was there. They advertise music starts at 9pm, when you get there it's 9:30pm. I left at 9:50; there was no music except what was playing through a sound system which was out of sync with some videos of some 70s jazz artists on a screen at one end of the bar. There were some western guys fooling around with the equipment who I assume where the so called artist because they were wearing Hawaiian shirts and wool hats. There were very few western people there mostly Thai so I don't buy into the previous reviews. In summary I am disgusted at myself for wasting an hour of my life here and paying $4 for draft beer.

Incredible musicianship in the middle of nowhere

Saw 'motherfunky' live at the soul bar this week and they were fantastic. A funky, jazzy trio of what could have easily been top session players, fronted by a cool, soulful Californian singer.
Hats off to the SoulBar for getting musicians in of this calibre 👍🏻

However there was nowhere near enough people to watch this band, perhaps because it seemed to be quite isolated from the usual hustle and bustle of Bangkok. When you go to SoulBar be prepared to not find a restaurant easily near-by, find one on trip advisor before you go the area, it will save a lot of pointless walking around.

I've seen a feel people complain about the bar being too small, but for me, that is part of its charm! When it is full I would imagine the atmosphere would be great...

Drinks are pricey but you have to remember you aren't paying to watch the band.

Will 100% go back and highly recommend.

good music but small space
Aug 2016 • Friends
It was ok to hang out and listen good music but it is too small space to be there with a big group friends. it can receive only 30 people inside there or less than that. Beer is normally price, not too expensive. it doesn't have food there so you need to eat before visit there.

Nice music and atmosphere. Cocktails are expensive for Bangkok like 220 to 240 baht. Beer around 120 Baht. But music was indeed very good. Please ask people around for the right location. The one showed by tripadvisor is wrong!!

Nice place, good beer

It's a bit off the track, but once you found it it's worth to stay.
Very small bar, soul and funk music starts at 9. Good Belgian beer, friendly service. But be sure to have dinner before, no decent eating places around.

Vibe music place off the beaten Bangkok path
Dec 2015 • Couples
We like this small but very atmospheric place as it's a bit off the normal Bangkok nightlife scene. Especially during Friday and Saturday the tiny bar can get crowded as they have great live Jazz and Soul music. So come a bit earlier and have some cool drinks or some easy chat with the friendly staff. Our favorite drink there is Beer Lao and in case you feel hungry there're some basic Chinese Street Kitchens in walking distance. A vibe place which seems to be still an hidden gem to be explored.
