Had a great experience here at Chinatown.

Went into one of the lane ways because it looked interesting and boy, was it!!!

The place was narrow and packed with all sorts of stuff to try, buy and take in.

It was as if we were thrown back in time.

The people were polite and friendly and never were we in fear or even uncomfortable.

It was a great experience and we went back with interesting stuff we bought and to savor in the next few days.

There are several LZX branches down Yaowarat Road, but the most popular one got to be the branch nearest to T&K Seafood. It was pretty crowded and most of the items were almost out of stock. Went there after dinner to check out and buy the famed Pork Floss snack. The items are pretty expensive for local standards at 160Baht each. They tasted alright, a little dry and rather similar to Singapore's Mei Zhen Xiang pork floss. Good for souvenirs and gifts. The Almond Tullies are not too bad.. Good thing is they will package everything you buy (provided you buy a lot) into a nice box which is easy to transport back home.

Owner is very friendly, the son also. Unlike the others shop, they are the best if you want to find packaged snacks such as pork floss and pork skin to bring home for souvenirs

These hot springs are part of the Ngao Waterfall National Park, although they are accessed via a separate entrance a bit further back towards Ranong from the actual park entrance. The entrance fee paid at either entrance also covers the other one (waterfall/hot springs).

Not the most attractive of sites, and paths etc were not all that well maintained. However, in the site's defence, there was a fair amount of construction work going on when we were there.

The site is on either side of a small rushing stream, with what looked to be only one walking bridge across joining the two. On the left side going in is a single cement pond, where the water is quite hot - probably too hot to go in. But across the bridge are more tepid pools, along with toilet/changing facilities.

It could be spruced up to be much nicer, but if you go to the waterfall you might as well go to the springs as well, and it would be far cheaper than going into town to the Raksawarin ones or those at the Chanson Hotel.

We came up from Khao Lak for the day for this and basically, you would not do that just for the springs but, combined with the waterfall, it was a worthwhile day trip.

Nowhere nearby ecited for lunch so we skipped that and drove back to Khao Lak for an early dinner. The trip is over 300 kms return, and you need your own transport or to hire some if from Khao Lak. No doubt a lot quicker and easier if you are in Ranong town itself.

There is a huge selection of local titbits and snacks. I spent like 2000B over there. Find the snacks getting a little more expensive over the years but well, everyone likes it. They always have interesting new flavours and products all the time. You can even ask them to pack them nicely into boxes for you to fly and check in.
